Currency exchange, Pamukkale, Hamam
Hello! At the beginning of June we are going to Simena Sun Club. A few questions:
1. Do I need to change dollars to lira (does it make sense)? If yes, where is the best place to do it?
2. We are planning an excursion to Pamukkale. I think that the representative of the travel agency will have the most expensive option. Where do you recommend to buy?
3. Where is the best place to visit the Hamam with procedures?
4. What would you recommend for a shopping place in terms of clothing?
Thanks in advance for your rational advice.

Sergey, hello!
Campaign, you are also going to Turkey for the first time, my husband and I just returned from there.
I answer your questions:
1. It is better to change money at home for dollars or euros. No need for lira. There is no point. They will give you change in lira if you need it. And so they even accept rubles, where they sell them - these are their questions. So my husband and I just brought 5 lira as a keepsake.
2. Pamukkale. Fabulous place! But we weren't there. This tour takes almost a day. At the hotel guide it costs an average of 170-200 dollars for 2. I really wanted to swim in the salt slides (in order to have a baby), but I found out that they have not been allowed to swim there for a long time, only to wet the legs. It's a very long ride, and the tour is given to take 1-1.5 photos. In addition, in the hotel you lose breakfast, lunch, dinner, and there you will have to eat at your own expense that day. And these smart-ass hotel guides will take you to the most expensive places, expensive cafes and restaurants, expensive shops. But if you are still burning with the desire to visit this excursion, then go to the bazaar or market in Kemer, as I understand it, you are going there, and ask how much this excursion costs from the guides standing in the market. And not just one, but 5-10 around

market. By the way, I will answer immediately about the market. We rested 7 km from Alanya, and so the concept of a market in such towns as we have in Russia is missing. For example, in Russia, markets with clothes are concentrated like private rows, shops, and, as a rule, the market occupies decent quarters, in the shape of a square. They don't. They only have a grocery market. And the clothes are sold on a certain street, which can stretch along the entire town. As in Istanbul, there is no market in these towns. Ride or go if such a street with clothes is close, by yourself, or by minibus. Because hotel guides don't take you there or take you for shopping, but to their center and won't let you out of it. Trade well. I have a master in this husband! I was on the sidelines. It traded from $1,800 to $150. That's how it should be. Do not agree for a long time, put your price on clothes, well, approximately, how much the same Chinese fake would cost us. Although they are all firm. My husband and I scored different things: from shoes to outerwear 18 kg. We spent about $700. They say we are the Russian mafia, deceive them, BUT YOU HAVE BARGAINING ALL THE WAY.

We did not go on this particular excursion, but went on many other long ones, including in Turkey. For the first time I hear that the cost of the tour does not include meals (I'm talking only about those purchased from the tour operator). Breakfast is usually given in the morning at the reception in the box. There are a lot of shopping streets in Kemer, we went to Antalya for shopping, a bus runs from the bus station every half an hour, tell the Migros driver, he will drop you off near this shopping center. There are branded boutiques, we purposefully went to Wai-ki-ki (Turkish inexpensive factory-made clothes), there was also a small store in Kemer, but it is difficult to find it and there is a small assortment). Also bought furs and leather at the Alice mall. In general, I recommend that you first walk around the shops of Kemer, ask the price. A separate guide fooled our brains that there are only fakes and affectionate sellers so that they don’t go there, and then they take them to overpriced shops at the survey. We then went abroad for the first time and fell for these fairy tales. Then it turned out that the textiles and outerwear in them are the same, but much cheaper.. In general, there are small travel agencies there, as elsewhere, every 50 meters, and almost all sellers in Kemer speak Russian fluently.

There is also Terra City in Antalya, this shopping center is larger, but it probably takes longer to get to it, it is on the outskirts. In general, these shopping centers have approximately the same assortment, it’s hard to get around everything in a day. And there, of course, it is desirable to speak English. They never paid in rubles, they almost never took cash with them, they withdrawn from ATMs in dollars, lira. Once at the post office, there was the most favorable rate.

AND NOW HAMAM! This tour can also be taken from a hotel guide, because they will not take you anywhere, but you can miss the guides in the market, Hamam can be lousy. Hamam is standard everywhere, but men always wash better than a woman. A woman washed me, and a guy washed my husband, and so he rubbed him for so long that a woman could wash me 3 times during this time. Let the men wash you. And then, when you are given a massage at the end, the standard divorce begins, the massage therapist calls the interpreter and the explanation begins. Like, you have salt deposits, chondrosis, etc. You need a general massage + additional ones for the head, neck, spine, total 150 dollars. If you think that you really need it - bargain well. If not, stubbornly refuse. You will get a simple general body massage. But I decided for myself that I would not go to Hamam anymore, and I went only for the sake of my husband, he is my lover of saunas and baths. And after the massage, I couldn’t wash off the oil of day 3 from my head, I translated half a bottle of Heden Sholders. So for a change, you can go.

So have a good rest!!!
P.S. I would like to take a sightseeing tour on a yacht and diving, but at the beginning of May there were none, yachts only from the middle or end of May. We'll definitely take it next time.

Accurately according to Pamukkale.
No one will allow swimming in the open reservoirs themselves, and you can only walk there without shoes. But there is a paid "Cleopatra's Pool" - warm mineral water. Here you can swim as much as you like.
We went on a tour to Pamukkale twice and both times took a two-day tour. That is, you spend the night in a hotel directly next to Pamukkale. Both times they took from the thesis. About the fact that food at your own expense is written nonsense. Both breakfast, lunch and dinner are included in the price of the tour. The only thing at your own expense is alcoholic drinks. So - be sure to visit Pamukkale, you will not regret it.

There are several programs in Pamukkale, including one-day ones.

For the Kemer region, it makes sense to take some small money. 1 dollar bills, 1 and 2 euro coins.
The fact is that in this region prices for small goods are often set according to the principle "1$ or 1€" or"2$ or 1€". That is, somewhere it is more profitable to pay in dollars, somewhere - in euros. For purchases above $5, this is not critical, you will be recalculated at the rate.
Lira can be withdrawn at any ATM, the above also generally applies to them. In large supermarkets, only lira and cards are accepted.
There is a little trick to the hammam. The fact is that massage can be done either before you start sunbathing, or already when the tanned skin has coarsened. Therefore, on the very first day, you go to the nearest street agency, tell them for a long time how you want to go somewhere every day, but start with a hamam. And with a high probability they will send you to a normal hamam, so that you later want to buy other excursions from them. At the same time, the hammam itself can be on the territory of a 3 * hotel, but with good masseurs and many times cheaper than what is in your hotel. On the following days, you can just go "warm up" in the hammam in your hotel, without massage, this is already included in the price.

Answers:
1. You should not change the currency - in tourist areas everything works on the basis of the dollar
2. In Pammukale, the tour is not dangerous at all, so you can go even with the first company on the street
3. Regarding the hammam, it is better to clarify this option with the guide - firstly, he will make a discount on the hotel hammam - but if you don’t like it, then send it to the city - since the price for such a service is already not high, so you should not save on this here they will bring you and take you and look after you, but it’s still a foreign country
4. Shopping in Turkey is everywhere - the main thing is not to go to it from someone - a guide, a local taxi driver or someone else - because the price immediately increases by his commission. It's best to go to any store yourself and see the difference)))

If you value the time that is lost with a travel agency in Pamukkale, go yourself. From Antalya to Denizli, from the bus station, and from Denizli for half an hour to Pamukkale.
And no one will limit you in time, and will bring in all sorts of wiring for stupid ones.

Thanks for the wishes and information.

In Pamukkale, go yourself, with two overnight stays - cheaper and more interesting, you will find the hotel without any problems (we were at the Alida Hotel). We swam on the upper travertines for about two hours in the evening, though it’s a bit small there, no one made any comments.

Still, as I see, the option of a trip with a car rental. Can you tell me where is the best place to rent a car upon arrival at Simena Sun Club?
аватар believeme
Look at the rental car on the street next to the hotel, you can also in the hotel: compare prices. Remember that gasoline is expensive.
аватар Igor_m
Gasoline will cost you about 80 Euros, rent about 40 Euros / day, hotel from 30 to 40 Euros / day. From Kemer to Pamukkale you will reach in a maximum of 4 hours, the loss of time is only in Antalya and a little in Denizli. Take a navigator with you. , there are no people. You can go to the top by car, there is a parking lot, and from there to Hierapolis and to the travertines, and to the baths of Cleopatra, there is a restaurant there. When there is time, visit Kurzunlu Park near Antalya (37°00'12.0"N 30° 49'04.0"E), 3 hours is enough for you - very beautiful. A car is the best means of transportation!
аватар Igor_m
Regarding shopping, my wife reminded me of outlets between Kemer and Antalya - on the left along the way - prices are 3-4 times lower than in Kiev for jumpers, jeans (real America, though 2008 release). You can visit Demre by car, you will be on the way passing through the city of Kumluca, clothes, shoes are good and cheap, there are no tourists at all.

Good evening!
1. In Kemer, they accept dollars (the exchange rate, if compared with the lira, then 2 lira is one dollar. You can pay in euros or rubles, at the rate.
2. We didn’t go to Pamukkale, but we found out that a trip from a tour operator costs twice as much as if you buy it on the street. The trip is not dangerous, you should not be afraid.
3. We had a hammam in the hotel, the price was $20. Super! There is a hammam on every corner, and everyone praises his own.
4. For things and souvenirs we went to the market in Kemer. Fruit and vegetable on Monday and Wednesday, clothing on Tuesday and Thursday. Stop the bus, tell the driver that you need a bazaar, take you and tell you where to get off. In general, almost everyone there speaks Russian, and there is a feeling that you are at home, just in another city, and not abroad. Everything is calm, understandable, people are very good.
