Dress code
I read in the concept of the hotel that it is advisable not to come to dinner in shorts? I wonder if this is true in practice? It is somehow hard to imagine that in such a heat men would wear trousers and not shorts. I appeal to those who rested there - share your observations, please!

Didn't rest there. But I stayed in hotels with a dress code. In Europe, as a rule, even in fours it is not customary to have dinner in shorts.
We always take linen trousers. All. The trousers are thin, light, with a light T-shirt on top, also linen and light. And my husband is comfortable and looks dignified.

There is a dress code in all hotels, it's just that not everyone observes it, especially "CIS". It all depends on the level of culture of the vacationer. The evening is not as hot as the day.
аватар Viltis
That's not necessary about the CIS. I'm not talking about hotels for "ours", here in Greece in Atlantis, four, there was a strict dress code. "Ours" were .. well, two couples, and another family with children, and that's all. Everyone dressed decently, if anything, the staff (also "ours") made a remark, but the British in shorts were never put up.
аватар votvam
I was unlucky, never saw the British in shorts. And ours are full, especially at lunchtime, immediately from the beach in wet swimming trunks, ignoring the poster with a ban on appearing in beach suits in a restaurant. The young ladies of different caliber in pareo were especially impressive.
аватар Viltis
I just choose hotels where there are almost none of ours. Mostly British, Germans, Italians.
That's why I made a note that I do not take into account the hotels "for ours."

Sorry, I don’t want to offend you, I also try to go to such hotels, but once I was unlucky, and I came across a hotel in Turkey with a complete absence of foreigners, later it became clear that this hotel specializes in receiving compatriots. It was all "fun" I was especially pleased with the inscription on the barrel of wine on the beach - "Please do not pour wine into bottles!" Like this.
аватар Viltis
Oh, how polite you are :-) You didn’t offend me at all, well, what are you. Once I also hit a burning Sheraton, I called it "Artek" :-) There was a nightmare of horror. But we met an Italian manager and dined with the Italians, and not in the "Soviet ghetto", and what could we do ..
But I'm talking about something else: about general norms of behavior and about self-respect. Ours are no worse than "theirs" :-) But if a bunch of outcasts gather .. this is already understandable ..

Completely agree with you. I consider myself an adequate person, and certainly not a homophobe, but last year, in a five-star hotel in Greece, I was shocked by two Germans kissing right in front of everyone in the pool. Okay, adults, pretend that everything is fine, but how can I explain this to my ten-year-old son? It was very awkward.
аватар Viltis
Fu-fu-fu..I'm a homophobe, militant to the same. What an abomination :-(
By the way, when I was in Movenpick, in Taba (review here), I observed a couple of sodomites from Ukraine. What does one of them have to do with the "star of the screen"? For a week my eyes were an eyesore, there were few people at the end of January. And there are hardly any of us.
So there is enough abomination in every nation. At 9 pm, ours wash their feet and rinse under their shorts in the pool right by the bar, and the British went further - they urinate in the pool ..
Before the trip to Europe: "Rome-Paris", I strongly reacted negatively to the dirt in Kyiv, to those who threw cigarette butts right under my feet, it infuriated me. But after Paris .. I became calmer :-) Everywhere there are only people .. everywhere there are educated people and vice versa.
So, that the topicator needs to rephrase the question to: "what is the contingent in this hotel"?
аватар votvam
When they ask me: "Well, how do you like Paris?" I answer - everything is great, only dog poop interferes with walking.
аватар Viltis
:-) My husband intelligently calls the smell of urine "the smell of Paris" :-)
аватар votvam
And it is also the smell of some areas of Amsterdam and Prague.
аватар Viltis
I can't speak for Amsterdam. The whole of Holland made a very strong impression on me, the Dutch themselves are aliens. They work like bees. And tourists .. well, yes, who is going there? Relevant personalities. Over there in the same Budva in Montenegro, the Montenegrins themselves are very clean, but tampaks in the water, cigarette butts and bits are not thrown by them.zh.tourists.
I haven’t been to Prague .. something doesn’t pull anymore :-)
аватар votvam
If you do not pay attention to this lack of attention, Prague is a magnificent city in which you want to return. Especially in autumn, Golden Prague becomes even "golden" from the leaves and the gentle autumn sun. Very nice! Go, you won't regret it!
аватар Viltis
Thank you :-) I will definitely think about it :-)
While I'm in love with Italy :-)
аватар votvam
I haven't been to Italy, I envy you. They planned to travel around Italy this year during the Euro, but they were scared by reports of earthquakes. They postponed the trip.
аватар Viltis
And we managed to return 4 days before the earthquakes. We went to May.

Great! Thank you for the great communication. Good luck on your new travels!

Thank you and good luck too :-)

rested there and about the type of dress code was not at all)))))
they won’t let you into the restaurant in a swimsuit, but it’s normal ......
аватар seelana
Thanks, Tema62 for the only answer on the topic :)!

Indeed, the hotel asks everyone to not come in shorts for dinner. My husband and sons always wore trousers, but they also saw men in shorts who were always let through. This rule is in the nature of an oral recommendation and depends on the personal desire of vacationers. Without a T-shirt, they will definitely not let you into the restaurant for breakfast, lunch, or dinner!)))
аватар 1VIP1
I agree, it is enough to come more or less dressed (not in a bathing suit or swimming trunks). For breakfast, we went in shorts, for lunch, dinner - a sundress, a dress, my husband - in trousers, breeches ... No one said a word

Vitis & votvam reminded me of characters from a fable :)... I also kiss in the pool with my wife, and she sunbathes topless, we are young and beautiful and we are not ashamed, and we do not discuss old flabby women gossiping with each other on the beach. And it’s interesting all the same, how were the pissing Brits determined, mmm?
аватар votvam
Young man, kiss your wife until you pass out, hello!!!!!, BUT IF your wife is female! Get topless! If you don't care that after this, breast cancer may suddenly appear. And we, flabby women, will lie and gossip that in a dozen years, such a simple thing as life experience may visit you.
