I have never been to Tunisia before. I contacted the RENAISSANCE TRAVEL agency in Minsk and received extensive advice both on the flight and in Tunisia from a professional team of employees ready to help at any moment, in particular, agency director Vitaly Boyko and manager Olga. Upon arrival in Tunisia and upon returning to Minsk, the guys did not forget about me, they were constantly interested in Viber, how I flew, how was the hotel, how was my health, is everything in order, do I like everything.
Yes, I liked everything!! ! Tunisia is a great country for relaxation, with snow-white beaches and a clear Mediterranean Sea, and a two-day excursion to the Sahara, camels, dunes, Bedouins, sunset, dawn, oases, African mountain canyons, the amphitheater of the city of El Jem, where the plots of the film "Gladiator" were filmed , it's just another world!
I was satisfied with the chosen budget hotel "Palmyra Beach" 3 *. Designed for about 180 guests and mainly for Russian-speaking tourists (and Tunisia is closed for Russia in 2020), it accommodated 17-20 people with me (all Belarusians and two Germans). You understand that there were no problems with sunbeds on the beach, there were no queues in the dining room. The rooms we all had were the best, perfect, with a sea view and no extra charge. Hamam, peeling, wrapping, massage - everything is on the level. Due to the lack of demand for these services, they also turned out to be inexpensive. They swam in the sea, sunbathed, danced. Never got bored.
The animation of the hotel is great! Ali, Wayo, Napa are just wonderful handsome smart guys! ! They are super! ! I have never seen such incendiary stylish dances of the animation team. Communication with these guys, who speak excellent Russian, English, and French, is a pleasure! I really miss them.
On our own, we went to Sousse, walked around the Medina. In a mask on my face and with a pareo on my head, they took me for a local, asking in Arabic for directions)). Very friendly people in this country! I felt comfortable. This is definitely not my last time in Tunisia.
In the reviews for Tunisia, from among the negative, they mainly talk about garbage along the roads. Yes, this is true, public utilities are weak, they can’t cope, not all locals still have a sense of responsibility to the state. I think it's temporary. Send our Lukashenka to Tunisia for a couple of months to organize several clean-up days)) Not only that they would have removed the garbage along the roads, they would have combed the Sahara with a rake ! !
The room had a cracked shower and water poured in all directions (replaced after 2 days), the toilet did not work. There was also a TV in the room, BUT the remote from the TV had to be taken at the reception for $ 5 against a deposit. I really do not understand who needs a TV remote control brand which I saw for the first time in this hotel. There was air conditioning in the room, but it only started working on June 15th. The set of soap accessories was one for 3 adults and was never replenished. Water in the coolers on site is free, but there was not even a bottle of water in the room (bottled water at the bar for 1 dinar). In the heat of 35 degrees, there is NO REFRIGERATOR in the room (for an additional fee of 5 dinars per day, you can take it at the reception for the entire stay, $ 14 per week).
The beach is a separate issue. Places must be taken at 5 am. At 6.30 there are no places on the beach. Nobody cleans the white sand, they just drag it with a heavy pipe and sort of level the garbage, which the vacationers themselves do not bring to the trash can (there are pigs everywhere! ). Towels for the beach are also under a deposit of $ 5 apiece, but it’s not the problem that they still aren’t there. The beds are old, sagging and moldy. So take towels from home or you can buy bedding on the spot (average price 15 dinars apiece).
Food. They feed for slaughter, but monotonously. Rice, pasta, french fries. Beef, turkey, chicken. There were no fresh vegetables separately, only finely chopped salads. A couple of times there were separate tomatoes. They hit crabs twice (there is no meat, one shell), shrimp and mussels were given once (it was delicious). A big plus of the restaurant is that as soon as something ends, they immediately take out the supplement. You can choose what to eat at any time.
Animation. In my opinion, very stupid and obsessive. For the first time I saw that people were pulled by the hand to participate in animation. Animation starts at 10 o'clock, when it is already hot. Almost everything is in the sun. Water aerobics takes place in the sea in ankle-deep water at 12 o'clock. The music on the beach is monotonous and very loud. I did not like the animators in Russian, they know a couple of words.
Almost everyone with whom we communicated was led by good reviews and were disappointed. The hotel is small, in principle, not bad, but there are a lot of improvements that upset and interfere with a comfortable rest. Wouldn't recommend and won't go again
This year we met several vacationers whom we met on our last visit. Many people come to this hotel not for the first time. price and quality are few where so pleasing). The only negative of this hotel is a small area, in the evening there is nowhere to take a walk.
Excursions bought from your guide. Absolutely delighted with the two-day Sahara, quad bikes and camels). I liked the excursion "Three Capitals", the White-Blue City, the Medina in Monastir - so-so. Independently, by minibus, we went to the port, Sousse and all the shops. The minibus costs 1 dinar per person, to the medina in Sousse 2 dinars. All bus drivers and passengers are very friendly and helpful.
1. Settlement.
We arrived at the hotel at about 7 am.
First of all, we filled out migration cards, I advise you to familiarize yourself with the procedure for filling them out in advance in order to save your time and nerves. After filling in and registration, they put on bracelets and invited us to breakfast.
I noticed that the hotel does not have a guest room, just to change clothes normally and deposit luggage, at first they sent me to the toilet to change clothes, but after our request they allocated a place in the aisle behind the reception desk. We settled at 11 o'clock, the staff at the reception is more or less friendly and adequate.
2. Nutrition.
The first annoyance was the large number of flies and the lack of measures to combat them from the hotel. Flies sit on food, crawl on the table and the body, there was no escape from them. In all likelihood, it is the norm for them to share a meal in the company of annoying and fearless flies. The daughter could not eat calmly, constantly brushing them off. On the 10th day, I got poisoned by something, but I didn’t understand what, I saved myself with activated charcoal and enterosgel, the next day it was already much better. Dirty tables and chairs, greasy tablecloths, more like some budget canteen, but not like a restaurant. Very meager and monotonous children's menu, which was for lunch and dinner: boiled carrots, potatoes and pasta, and one thing for a side dish (fish in breadcrumbs, sausages, turkey). If you come to the end of the dinner, then you can leave the child hungry, since the trays are empty by this time, and no one replenishes them. There are only 3 highchairs for children, and only one of them seems to be in good order, all the highchairs are dirty, greasy and “barely breathe”. The water in the coolers has a salty taste, it is simply disgusting to drink it. The same applies to juices like "yupi". In general, coffee machines do not work for half a day, sometimes they are broken, sometimes they need to be refueled, sometimes there are no dishes, the water also leaves much to be desired. I noticed that during the rest, the children's tables and chairs were never clean, they were not even wiped, so crumbs would be swept away and that's it, take as many antibacterial wipes as possible with you if you travel with children. There were queues for food, but not constantly, depending on the arrival of vacationers, mainly at the beginning of the opening of the "canteen", they tried to come later - the queues are already smaller. We observed another interesting fact - you bring a plate of food to the table, you leave for something else, you come, and the plate is removed - apparently this is how they do it, if there is no one, then you can remove everything, it would be better to keep it clean like that. 30 minutes before closing, they begin to slowly clean everything up, there were cases when people came closer to closing, and there was nothing much to eat, so do not delay, otherwise you will remain hungry. The food, of course, was delicious and very varied, you can not argue here. Every day for dinner they gave delicious ice cream, we also liked sweets, a couple of times they gave fried shrimp, tuna, lamb. There was no late breakfast in the lobby bar as such, at 11 o'clock they took out some pastries from breakfast, dishes, turned on the machine and that's it. Before lunch, it was all eaten and no longer heard, although it is prescribed that it works from 10.00-23.00 hours. There you could just drink tea or, if you were lucky, coffee. We really liked the afternoon snack and the staff who baked pancakes and pizza, they are very friendly and cook deliciously, however, I work only 1.5 hours.
3. Beach.
The beach is of course super, white sand, like flour, but dirty, there is a lot of household garbage in the sand, which you constantly stumble upon. I would say that children play in the sand is not entirely hygienic. Before that, I was in another hotel, also in the top three, and every evening they collected garbage there and “filtered” the sand with a special rake. Of course, there is none here, because the staff themselves throw cigarette butts and garbage into the sand, not having time to carry it to the basket. Sun loungers were often not enough, but we got used to it - we borrowed early. There were also broken beds.
4. Animation.
Animation of course peculiar, but in general not bad. It can be seen that the guys are trying, but again, not for everyone, I think the whole thing is at a young age. They entertain mostly single young girls and women, or those who stick to them and just like them. The guys stupidly automatically perform the learned movements and the perfected program of the day. From 10.00 in the morning the guys begin to entertain the people, these are gymnastics, water aerobics, small dances and various games. We went to the evening program a couple of times and didn’t go anymore - we couldn’t sit through to the end, that’s honestly boring. Children's animation during the day is rather weak, we can say that it simply does not exist. Rarely working children's club, it was not clear how it still works, how you can't pass by everything is closed, there is nothing for children on the beach and by the pool. A couple of times in the morning (in rainy weather) it was even open, the animator girl just sits and is bored, poor thing, she is sad, she doesn’t even take care of the children, they play with their parents in old and dirty toys. The playground is also not very good, broken, dirty children's chairs, a rusty creaky iron rocker, and one seems to have broken down and is now bolted on. In the evening, children are gathered for a mini-disco and dancing with them, this is the only plus of children's animation.
5. Alcohol and bar.
Strong drinks are poured only in the main bar, only beer by the pool, and beer and wine by the beach. We didn't like the small disposable plastic cups that you put alcohol in when you're not drinking at the bar. Strong alcohol is diluted, especially brazenly this is done by the not pleasant bartender Rafik. All bartenders dilute alcohol differently. The beer is good, the wine, to be honest, did not like it. I liked the service of the bartenders on the beach. The main bar also makes cocktails, but very weak ones, we just took extra strong drinks and diluted them.
6. Cleaning.
They clean up for a “C grade”, and when you leave a dinar, they clean up worse than if you don’t leave money, you never know, it’s not clear. The floor was apparently just wiped, because when it dries, you can feel the sand on your feet. There was dust in the corners and under the bed. Bed linen was changed once, a day after arrival and EVERYTHING! The sink was constantly clogged and there was a sewer smell. The cleaning lady kept forgetting to change towels, had to be reminded.
7. The territory of the hotel.
The territory of the hotel is small, not for a walk, but well-groomed and comfortable. You can play table and tennis, swim in a small pool, smoke hookah and drink Tunisian tea. In the evening, there is nothing to do in the hotel and beyond, and besides, it is dirty there. Discos are only twice a week, the evening program, as already mentioned, is boring and lasts until 23.00 hours maximum. On wi-fi, you can’t really count on it to catch in the room, and even more so on the beach. Although everything is relative, we lived in room 016, there was a router nearby, and the Internet almost did not work in the room, but for friends on the second floor, it worked perfectly. There is an Internet (weak) only at the reception or in the corridor near the router. Smoking is almost everywhere, of course there were good people who smoked aside, but most don't care, even during meals. Excursions can only be purchased from hotel guides, I must say right away that they are not cheap.
8. Bottom line.
For the level of the triple, the hotel as a whole corresponds. I went here, according to the reviews in the VK group, but as it turned out, they are very exaggerated and do not correspond to reality, so in no case be guided by this group. Of the pluses, I would single out a gorgeous sea, white sand, sun and delicious food. In general, the rest was a success, we got what we came for - the sun and the sea.
It's great that there are such places surrounded by a bright and kind aura, like this hotel)
Warm sea - very close)
Great staff)
Good kitchen)
Excellent animation, touching treatment of children)
Thank you for a wonderful holiday, Novostar)))
Will definitely come again)
We are tourists who rested in the city of Sousse (Tunisia) hotel "Novostar Palmira" -3 *.
Pros:
1. Room - we lived in a triple room with a sea view (no extra charge) with a large terrace.
2. The sea - a superbly equipped beach, clean, not polluted by animals with FREE sunbeds (a towel for a deposit of 20 dinars). The beach is cleaned from algae after a storm, and they will pick up cigarette butts from negligent tourists.
There will be enough loungers for everyone, and for those who want not to be salty, an equipped shower will please.
3. Kitchen - will delight any glutton. A dish from the chef every evening is different, then freshly caught tuna, which is butchered before your eyes and you will be offered a freshly fried piece, then swordfish and various sea fish. And, the most interesting in Tunisia are found RABBITS. I won't even mention quail, turkey shrimp and chicken.
4. A young team of animators will not let you lie down on the beach, drive you into the sea for aqua aerobics, invite you to play "tapkobros" and other new games for you. Evening show will make you get positive emotions.
5. Water - unlimited bottled water available at the bar and coolers in the dining room and lobby of the hotel.
Minuses:
1. Room - cleaning leaves much to be desired, only with personal contact with the maid, you can achieve cleaning of the room and change of towels.
2. A small selection of fruits (apples, pears, watermelon, melons, grapes) no citrus!!!
3. Excursion in sugar - the guide Tatyana gave very little information to tourists, she did not fall in love with the country. The first day of the trip, wasted money. Riding on smelly horses in the dust, finished off by tortured animals in the zoo.
Before you go on a tour, check who will be your guide!! !
