And unless who looks at dates of release of dollars?
Sorry, I have heard this more than once from a woman who keeps and folds currency at home.
Not once in exchange offices abroad did they look at years, whether with a large or small Franklin head.
And I was in Thailand, maybe I had new ones?
Let's see if someone can answer who is more often in Thailand.

They look in Tae and therefore it is better to bring new ones (since 2000).

It’s just that now mostly banknotes with a year of issue since 2000 are in circulation, so apparently many don’t look, but sometimes early copies come across, and in some countries, and even in native exchangers, you can run into a stupid refusal to accept - therefore I think - It's better not to risk it, but to check before the trip.

1996 are accepted, but at a reduced rate, and only in bank branches, but not in exchange offices. Too many, they say, were fakes.

thanks for answers!

Well, do not forget that the exchange rate is different for banknotes of different denominations. The highest is for 50 and 100 dollar bills.

Sorry for the offtopic, of course, but it's impossible to remain silent =)))) I am absolutely indifferent to such things as the level of reputation of specific users on the site. But I'm a little surprised that everyone in a row puts minuses in the reputation and for the message (to the right of each message there is a hand up and down, which makes it possible to evaluate the usefulness of the answer), and pluses for themselves. Don't you find? =))))

I also subscribe to your words and think: these "legs" need to be removed. Here I wrote advice: "You need to bring new dollars, 2000 and newer." My advice is -1. Is it wrong or incorrect? In general, what a mess something. It's better not to answer.

Thais are already taking rubles, if anything ...

I always change dollars for tourists. Very often and very much. Never looked at the year of issue. There has never been a refusal or an underestimation of the rate for banknotes 50 and 100. I don’t know who spreads such information that they don’t take dollars older than 2000, I personally have never come across this. And I change a couple of thousand dollars a day. Banknotes are so old in appearance that in Ukraine the money changers would definitely not take them, and there the main thing is that the checking machine let them through.

it is more profitable to take one hundred dollar bills after 2000. It is important! Change at exchange offices, in hotels and shops, the rate is lower, this is not profitable. There are exchange offices everywhere, but pay attention to the opening hours from 10 am to 17 or 18, so stock up until the evening. Good luck!!!!

Many exchangers on Walking Street are open until 12 am, and some until 2 am. Change it there, there is the highest rate.
