Flying cockroaches are the cutest creatures. Unfortunately they are not available in Phuket. I saw it in Krabi. Scolopendra in Cambodia near the temples. In general, Phuket is boring. No cockroaches, no centipedes. :-)

100% you can meet ants, lizard, snake if the hotel is in the greenery
аватар ollennka
I only saw small lizards... In Krabi.

Well, my wife and I have been lucky with the snakes. One was seen at the entrance to the hotel, the other near the pool, but one - a green beauty - fell from a branch right on a table near a sunbed. After that, my wife said - not a foot in Thailand :)

We saw only lizards in Phuket in the hotel, on the veranda (hotels in greenery) and on the balcony (3rd floor) there was always one there! In the hotel in the greenery, a little monkey came to visit and the gibbon was constantly screaming. And there weren't even mosquitoes in the room!
On the beach at night, crabs crawl out of the sand from mink to mink.

Lizards - this is probably everyone writes about geckos. Yes, there are a lot of them everywhere, they are funny and not dangerous.
Somehow, with Phuket, we were lucky in terms of living creatures - there was none, but the hotel was urban, without territory and a pool. But in other places ... On Koh Samui, a snake from a branch plopped into the pool. On Tao, a monitor lizard came to the bathroom and sat there for a day. Not a Komodo dragon, of course :), but there were 30 centimeters in it. There are a lot of cockroaches everywhere, not "Soviet" small and red, but black, flying, half the length of a palm.
On the beach, I would advise you to be vigilant not about cockroaches, but about migrating larvae. You can google it, disgusting thing. So, where there are dogs on the beach (the larvae live in dog excrement), - no gatherings on the sand without bedding and walking barefoot on the sand! Beware of jellyfish in the water. And the rest ... All is well.

Has no one seen rats in Phuket? Or this living creature is no longer of interest to anyone :-)
аватар V.A.S.
No, well done, what do you say! Scare someone to death :)
In fact, living creatures, of course, are found, the presence of geckos is a sign that there are no snakes nearby. And they are cute.
Cockroaches roam, but in the area of the ground and the first floor, they were rarely seen. As for the rats, don't go near the trash bags left on the street, and you still need to hunt for the lizards in order to take a picture.
Hide everything sweet and tasty in bags and in the refrigerator, peel the fruit in a bag and tie it tightly, or better in the trash on the street.
We were lucky with snakes and centipedes - we saw only dead ones.

I was in Thailand 1 time, I did not like it. I thought to give him a chance to rehabilitate and go again, but after this question, the shivers take))))))

Ollenka, didn’t our answers reassure you?
:))
аватар ollennka
Nope))) I'm terribly afraid of cockroaches.

Thailand is different. There is Pattaya, there is Phuket, etc. I recently visited Karon. Everything is fine and there are no problems with livestock.

What a nightmare ... After the "migratory larvae" (I don't know what it is and I'm even afraid to read), one desire is to bypass Thailand on the tenth road.

On the beach, you can get bitten by a large red ant. Biting hard! The bitten place swells strongly. She herself went through this.

In Phuket at night, especially where there are markets, cafes, food stalls, you can often meet cockroaches!

On Kata Beach, a 40 cm green snake fell from a tree, but it was more afraid than we were of it and quickly jumped into the bushes. In hotels, living creatures were not observed. Lizards came across outside settlements.

Indeed, I forgot ... Small, lovely gecko lizards are almost everywhere. They starve in the winter due to the lack of mosquitoes and flies, their main food. Curious and beautiful. They whistle and click funny. More myna starlings, black with yellow markings on their heads. There are a lot of them. Some are talking. In the jungle I saw big spiders, ants, small green snakes, and in kao-souk hornbills, and gibbons. But this is if you climb anywhere. On the Similan Eight at night they jump right from under their feet and running in all directions, funny rat-rabbits squeak. Catch and find out what kind of living creatures failed, too nimble. There are also large, up to one and a half meters monitor lizards and many flying foxes. But they do not annoy, hang in crowns during the day, and fly beautifully in the evenings (foxes). On rafting we saw large snakes in the crowns of trees above the river. They hunt birds there. There is nothing dangerous. Adventures on the fifth point can be found anywhere, there would be a desire.

How many people, so many impressions. Everyone sees what attracts. Everything will be fine, but invisible * animals: in the hotel is another question ... Take it with you (Benzene benzoate * There it is not in pharmacies.

Tai leaves no one indifferent. He either "bites" the first time and captures your heart for life, or does not touch at all. If he does not touch, then all superficial negativity emerges (a long flight, natural and imaginary unsanitary conditions, the danger of being bitten or poisoned, etc.) Then the Thai strains and repels. In short, they either love it or hate it. I am a "bitten tay" person. Having visited 40 countries, I have already stopped at it 8 times. There is everything for the happiness of the tourist. For a very active holiday and complete relaxation. From a desperate night "hang out" to the quietest meditation. There is also the possibility of cheap travel to many neighboring countries. Only here HOW to have a rest, YOU choose. Tai gives you every opportunity. How exactly you will use them is your own business. ;-)

JeryLee! I subscribe to your every word!
аватар Pachok
Disagree with JeryLee. I'm not a fan of Tai, but I don't have any negative feelings towards him either. A normal country, you just need to understand why you are going there, and on your first trip, be prepared for certain uh... features :)
We were 4 times, on our own, without maintenance, traveled to different regions, if "normal price, suitable season" coincides, we are ready to go there again. But I won’t sit and count the days until the trip to Tai :)

ollenka, where were you?
аватар ollennka
In Bangkok and Krabi. I especially disliked the Thai food. It seems like a bulk of fresh fruits, seafood, fish, spices ... But they all combine so tastelessly that it’s a pity for the products.
аватар Pachok
Wow! What are we all different! :) For me, Thai food is number one in the world (from what I have tried)! If I miss anything, it's the right tom yam and catfish :) In Kyiv, unfortunately, there is not a single place with decent Thai food.

The risks of meeting the above living creatures in Tai are no greater than on Sunday barbecues somewhere near Omsk.
аватар ollennka
Well, yes, especially centipedes and migratory larvae run around Omsk like that. Do not write nonsense. Siberia has its own problems - ticks, here they are worse than cockroaches.

The question of the presence of insects eventually smoothly turned into the question "Is it worth going there"? For me - it's worth it. Especially in winter, when we have frosts, mud, slush, flu, little sun, and if an inexpensive tour or air tickets popped up ... Tai is a warm sea, a lot of sun, a lot of fresh fruits and seafood is cheap, this is the smiling attitude of Thais, these are high-quality leather bags, belts and shoes, these are excellent cotton things, this is the beautiful nature of Phuket, these are cheap macaroons and restaurants in the evenings, this is an unforgettable daily (!) Thai massage for 200 baht. We always returned from Tai with a positive attitude. We love this country. And if you follow the basic rules of hygiene, then there will be no poisoning.
аватар andrei707
Dear, "unforgettable Thai massage for 200 baht" is already a thing of the past. At least in Phuket there are no such prices anymore :-(
аватар 4yuka
And in Pattaya there is such a price for a massage, and at the Institute of the Blind, even for 180 baht, they do a wonderful Thai massage!
