We are going to Phuket in October
Advise where is the best place to go? We prefer not to lie on the beach all the time, but the beach is also interesting, I want corals to be within walking distance, to have wild beaches, to be able to rent a car and drive around the island, is it worth going to the mainland if we plan to be 10-11 days, what is worth seeing for sure, and what is better not to waste time on, and so on.

In Phuket, corals are only in the aquarium! For them you have to go to the islands, where you don’t travel much by car. And there are as many beaches as you like, read reviews about Kata and Karon.

Corals are in Egypt. 10-11 days is not much. 2 - 3 sea excursions, a reserve, an overview and a couple of days on the beach - I don’t see a special need to take a car, and even left-hand traffic.

And with the game of the beaches, it’s also a big strain ...

October is the off-season, the weather can be unpredictable. And not so much the weather itself, but the excitement of the sea. There are no corals there, everything was written to you correctly. They are, in general, in Thailand only in one region - near Tao and Chumpon, this is a completely different coast. You can see a little fish if you take an excursion to the Similans or the Krabi Islands (especially Hong! I recommend).
To the mainland: from Phuket there is a wonderful opportunity to go to Krabi - this is where the most beautiful nature in Thailand is! To be honest, I would have gone to rest in Krabi, I liked it much more there than in Phuket. On the latter, it looks too much like a hybrid of Sochi and Pattaya - everything is rather trampled down by Russian-speaking tourists. On the beach (Karon) - matyuki and "pissing boys": (Prices are higher than in other resorts, taxis are expensive.
In general, October is still considered the best season for Koh Samui, Tao, Koh Phangan.

Thanks everyone!!!! Phuket chose because departure from Nizh. Novgorod only to Phuket or Pattaya, something Phuket attracts me more. How to get to Krabi from Phuket? Has anyone rented a car with a driver?
аватар Natali_NN
Moreover, which resort to prefer (or the beach)?
аватар Pachok
You can take a transfer by land, at any local agency. You can fly with budget airlines.
We took a car with a driver several times - a taxi for the day, do I understand correctly? Immediately agreed on a fixed amount and an approximate route.
Of the beaches, the most party-oriented is Patong, the most popular are Karon and Kata, but if the sea is turbulent, then it is dangerous to swim on Karon, there is a strong lower reverse current, someone is constantly drowning :( Surin beach is also good, but it is a little further from " center". A wonderful place is Cape Panwa, but it is far from everything and the ebb is very strong.

Natali NN, there is hardly a flight from NN to Pattaya - there is a small airport, it rarely accepts international ones. Most likely, for tours to Pattaya, an arrival in Bangkok is carried out. So from Bangkok you can fly further wherever you like, it is not necessary to go to Pattaya. Or not to fly, but again, take a transfer.

Yes, the plane arrives in Bangkok, but tours are sold only to Pottaya, if you buy only a flight, it will be very good. expensive, no matter how much I looked, I didn’t compare an independent trip and a tour from the operator, the same money comes out, but there is more crap. Of course, it’s easier to fly from Msk on your own, but until you get to Msk and back, you lose almost a day, which is why you want to fly from Nizhny

I read that you can rent a car, or you can rent a car with a driver, I understand that it’s not a taxi, but in the same agency where cars are rented, you haven’t seen this. The idea is to take a cheap tour, and travel around, see, and, of course, swim in between. I understood there are no corals, although they write in the complaints that they are, but in principle the sea is interesting, or rather its bottom, you can swim with masks, or it’s just as boring as in Turkey and Spain (for example, in Crete we liked the sea, of course not the Red one, but the relief and his world could be seen)
аватар Pachok
I didn’t meet a rental with a driver, or rather, I wasn’t interested.
The bottom is more interesting than in Turkey and Spain, but it cannot be compared with the Red Sea. There are still some fish, but there are practically no corals. I repeat - I liked Hong the most - there is a small white beach surrounded by green rocks, the water is completely transparent, the bottom is white sand, so when you sit in the water with a roll in your hand, hundreds of green striped fish are clearly visible even in pictures taken with sushi :) And there is also an internal lagoon on Hong - like a lake of sea water inside the island, boaters bring it in from the sea, it's very beautiful.
Similans disappointed a little - a lot of people, more people than fish.

Thank you, I will definitely use the advice, but in general, can you give me an idea where you can go in October? To swim in plenty (I love this activity) and travel, preferably on my own. Were in Egypt, Turkey, Crete
, in Catalonia and Prague (I don’t want to repeat myself)

Madeira! If you like to travel to natural beauties, this is an extraordinary place! There is nothing from the ruins, there are several old churches, but the nature, mountains, ocean are fantastic. And there are many routes for independent movement.
And black volcanic beaches, and prehistoric laurel forests, and kilometer-long levadas in the mountains. The botanical garden is magnificent, and the island itself is like a botanical garden. When it was opened, the condition for visiting the island was the import of plants - as a result, there is the world's largest variety of plant species.
The hotels are good and inexpensive, the whole question is in the flight.
We flew through Lisbon, from it to the island an hour and a half flight. I don’t know how from Russia, this year we have package tours that are inexpensive to Madeira - about 1000 dollars. in 10 days.
аватар Natali_NN
And Tenerife! Or any island from the Canary Islands? and Cyprus?
аватар Pachok
Was not. But I chose Madeira based on reviews, having studied reviews and reports from the Canaries, Madeira and Azores. They were distributed as follows: first Madeira, then the Azores, then the Canaries.

And I will always be in time for Cyprus :)

there is still one BUT, I want to spend a vacation on a budget. Portugal also seduces, but in the next. once. Our passports run out in September 2014, I want to follow. a year to Spain, I hope they will give us a Schengen for a year, and then on a special offer to Europe, even to Portugal

So, you are considering Thailand - quite budgetary. I only doubt about the season, it would be better either earlier and on Koh Samui or later on the same Phuket. Check with your anestia if they have Pattaya Samet or Pattaya Koh Chang tours. There are a lot of good excursions from Pattaya, and you can get to Chang and Samet by ferry inexpensively, and there is a good beach holiday. And many still take the cheapest last-minute tour to Pattaya, fly in, and then go to one of the islands themselves, while losing the cost of a hotel in Pattaya. But often this is beneficial, since last-minute tours are practically at the price of a flight.

In time, the end of September, October, the region can capture the first week of November. I want to pick up a tour myself, and I’ll buy it from an agent. I hope there will be last-minute offers, 6 operators from us transport to Thailand, but only Pattaya and Phuket, and the weather can also let you down at the end of October-beginning of November? About the offer to buy a tour, and then fly away to ...... you need to think about it. Another couple wanted to fly with us, will they want to? But it's worth considering, tours to Pattaya are cheaper. And about Spain and Portugal, these are thoughts out loud, on the trail. I want a year But Cyprus as an option for October is not good? Painfully, I liked Crete, it seemed to me that this was my homeland, so I felt comfortable and calm there
аватар Pachok
Usually considered the season in Phuket from November to March.
The off-season is from May to September. In April and October the weather can be anything. But storms and currents are virtually guaranteed.

There are no normal corals directly in Phuket. It’s worth taking a car, you will be on the island - write, I’ll tell you where to go. There are corals only on the neighboring islands, so I recommend considering the Phuket vacation plus Phi Phi Don, hotels and a ferry to buy here on the spot, it's cheaper and easier. I have been living in Phuket for many years, there will be questions about the island - write in a personal.

Good afternoon! Recommend the Hotel for a relaxing holiday. Parties are not interested. We love snorkeling. Thanks in advance

Good afternoon! A hotel for a relaxing holiday on any beach, depending on the budget - the first or second line. In the center or in the south of Patong, the sea is dirty. But for snork you have to go on sea excursions, we usually booked a bungalow on Phi Phi for three nights, that's where the peace is! Unless, for a walk, you want to jump through the jungle through the pass and toss around the town of Tusan on the isthmus. The jungle is absolutely safe, there is a banana-cashew garden on the pass :))
Another option for a lazy day is an excursion to Coral Island. You buy at the nearest travel agency, they are daily, they deliver you from any hotel to the pier, take you to the island for 15-20 minutes, and there you wallow, swim, etc., about 12 days they are fed, usually tasty, lunch (buffet), then you continue to bask in the sun and "snorkel", and for about three hours you are loaded onto a boat - and again in Phuket. Depending on the location of the hotel, the road takes 20-30 minutes, they are transported by minibuses, everything is perfectly organized.
