poor knowledge of English.
Hello. My husband and I are going to Phuket on April 17-18. We have been very positive about the trip for a long time. The only thing I worry about is that both of us have practically zero knowledge of English, which is a shame, but nevertheless a fact. Can this serve as a barrier in terms of mutual understanding in the hotel and in general? Are there any Russian-speaking staff in hotels? And tell me please, are the Thais really so aggressive? husband)) thanks in advance for all the answers.

We have the same history with knowledge of English, which did not stop us from visiting Tai 5 times. Some hotels have Russian staff. And the Thais are very peaceful people. Your husband will not have to be patient, because the male population of Tai is indifferent to European Women.

In my opinion, Thais are the most peaceful people! and you can take a miniature dictionary with you and there are no problems!)))

All your fears described in the question are completely unfounded. Russian-speaking staff is a rarity, this is not Turkey and Egypt (yes, Thais and English are not very good), but there are no problems, in extreme cases, write down the phone number of the guide or even there are free tourist assistance numbers (translator) - they will tell you what they want to say (but this is more likely in difficult situations), this is in Pattaya, probably in Phuket too.
I don’t even know how to behave in order to cause aggression among the Thais. Dear, pleasant, adequate people. Irina, maybe I’m wrong, but the wording in the question somehow doesn’t quite show your peacefulness “you are positive, but you don’t want to test your husband’s patience” - you don’t go there to prove something to someone, but to rest. Add some more positivity! :)))

Aggression and Thais are simply incompatible concepts, my English is not so hot either, and this did not stop me from having a great rest in Tae, and the sign language was not canceled.))) On the contrary, they are very open and hospitable people always ready to help, somehow got lost in Bangkok in the subway, realizing that we do not understand what they are explaining to us, we were simply taken to the right platform, while without any irritation with a smile.

The right decision, have a good rest, I'm just sure that this trip to Tai will be nerve-wracking, but far from the last.))))
