Karon - light sand, creaks due to the presence of quartz (one of seven such beaches in the world). I like the emerald bay in the Tri Trang area more. There the sand is white and gentle too =) And Patong is at hand.

A friend of mine has such a hobby, collecting sand from different beaches, so she brought it with Kata Noi, it is in the first place in terms of whiteness, like flour, in the second from Karon Beach, and in Patong it is not at all white, some kind of gray-yellow .
