Let me give you a couple of tips on choosing a hotel (if this question is still relevant for you): since in June (as was correctly noted by other members of the forum) the direction of the wind changes and the wind starts blowing from the southwest, almost the entire western side of the island becomes of little use for swimming. If you still want to be on the west side (such beaches as Patong, Kata, Karon, Kamala, Bangtao, Surin, etc.), then it is best to go to Kata. Firstly, there is an island on Katya, which covers one section of the beach from big waves and you can swim there with your child. And it is better, in my opinion, to choose the eastern side - the Panwa area. There are good hotels there. The only negative is that the water is opaque, slightly greenish, not azure blue. This is because there are a lot of coral reefs and plankton. But swimming is great.. I have a lot of friends who just relax there, preferring the silence and natural beauty to the noise of tourist beaches. If interested, check out Cape Panwa or the Radisson Plaza Resort Phuket Panwa.

Choose only the west and a hotel in the north of Kata beach. There really is a lovely island that acts as a breakwater. And the entry into the sea is gentle. And in the east you will not see the azure sea and plankton will eat mercilessly!
