My husband and I had a number in the front part of the building, the girls on the first day - in the side part. The room in the side part is smaller in size, the bathroom is made in the form of a narrow room, where a toilet bowl, a sink, a shower room, a bath are installed like a “train”.
Our rooms were much larger (in fact, it was possible to put four double beds there, although it is written that the maximum occupancy is 2 + 1), and a bathroom (indeed, a room with an area of at least 8 square meters). In general, we can say that we were lucky with the accommodation.
The territory of the hotel is small and not particularly equipped, there is nowhere to walk.
The food suited us perfectly, it was mainly focused on non-Asians (probably because there were traditionally a lot of Americans and Germans in the hotel), in the morning there was a queue for scrambled eggs. That is, there was practically no Thai food there, except perhaps their rice with vegetable additives - very tasty and not spicy. There is really a very small choice of pastries - there were no buns, there were no cakes, only donuts and pancakes. You can make your own toast in the toaster.
We didn't like the pool at all.
The water was always cold (perhaps because it was constantly raining, there was almost no sun for the entire period of our vacation). But most importantly, it is small. The whole pool is the same depth 1.20. And the opening hours - from 10.00 to 19.00 - are also inconvenient, apparently designed for the fact that tourists mostly swim in the sea. Since the sea was very restless, we could not swim in it, we only walked along the coast. So on this trip we were able to swim in the azure sea only during sea excursions.
When we planned the trip, we already knew that the sea on our Karon beach was rough in August, but we hoped that we would go swimming to other beaches (Kata, for example). But the need for this disappeared by itself, since it almost always rained - or a downpour, or a drizzle, and in such weather there was no desire to trudge to another beach. The only sunny day (half day) was on the day of the sightseeing tour.
I think the location of the hotel is the best of all the nearby ones in Karon. The hotel is located in the depths, 100 meters from the road, so it was always quiet and not dusty for us (in some hotels, breakfast was held almost by the road). From the road to the hotel there is a street with massage parlors located on it (well, five parlors for sure), restaurants, shops. We always dined at the Three Crowns restaurant, where we were welcomed as long-awaited guests. We also had free Wi-Fi there. For interest, we visited several massage parlors and chose the Karma salon for ourselves - it is more comfortable there, and, it seems, more qualified and serious staff.
By the way, about excursions with Pegasus. We took three excursions from them - Phi Phi Islands, James Bond Island and Khao Lak Nature Reserve, not counting the free sightseeing tour. All excursions were well organized with excellent guides.
On the islands, we had the opportunity to compare the boats of other companies and those on which we were delivered by Pegasus. Ours is newer and faster. We enjoyed a lot. For some reason, the sun always shone for us on the islands (although we left Phuket in the rain), and we managed to get a tan. Fins and masks for snorkeling were issued on board the boat. A cameraman swam underwater with us and filmed a movie. There is a disk with a film of 1600 baht.
Our hotel guide Olesya is a girl with a sense of humor and was always in touch. In general, we expected the worst from Pegasus and were pleasantly surprised.
At the airport our flight was delayed by 2.5 hours. As soon as the delay was announced, they immediately organized the issuance of sandwiches and drinks. It was amazing too.

We returned from Tai last Saturday, June 11th. We lived at The Old Phuket from 30.05 to 11.06. 2011. This is all, of course, the lyrics, but already in my mood you can understand what impressions this hotel and the country as a whole left about itself. But, I will put aside emotions and try to write a meaningful and objective review, which I hope will help you if you decide to choose The Old Phuket.
Hotel.
I will say that I liked almost everything in the hotel: the area with the constantly spreading amazing aroma of some plants, the nicest staff, high-quality room cleaning and breakfast service, constantly sounding unobtrusive music (fantastic covers of world hits), the presence of a library with literature on different languages, table tennis, fitness equipment, golf courses, two swimming pools, etc. Of the minuses, I can note the following: very poor sound insulation and the presence of fungus on the wall in the bathroom. Although the presence of this fungus is quite understandable: in Thailand there is such a terrible dampness that it is incomprehensible to the mind! Here are two examples for you. Firstly, having once wetted one of my T-shirts, I dried it for three days despite the incredible heat. Secondly, our bag, which we put against the wall upon arrival and did not move during the whole vacation, was covered with mold in 2 weeks, so we had to wash it)). That's it.
In general, neither the presence of mold nor the lack of good sound insulation particularly interfered with us. Believe me, you get used to everything the very next day after settling in. Moreover, the rooms are really very comfortable, with a good TV, a safe, even a pair of umbrellas in the closet (which will become your faithful companions if you decide to go in the summer) Yes, and more. The pillows in the rooms are uncomfortable and cause back pain. So we slept without pillows at all)). Maybe it's just that we were so unlucky - I don't know.
Location. The hotel is located on a clean and pleasant Karon Beach. If you compare it with the notorious Patong Beach, then it's just a paradise. Arriving for the sake of interest one day with her husband to Patong, they were horrified by the bedlam that reigns there (garbage and untidiness everywhere, a lot of equipment and the smell of gasoline). I just felt sorry for the people who had to spend time in this hell. So advice: do not take a hotel in Patong.
As for Karon Beach, its only drawback in the low season (from May to autumn) is the restless sea with constant waves (sometimes strong, sometimes not very). However, the minus is relative, because it is also very cool to swim in the waves (even with the red flags that the Thais put up warning of danger), the main thing is to be careful and not overestimate your strength when swimming far. The sea is very clean and warm. Sunbeds are really paid, but we never even lay on them, however, like many other people. They came, bathed, if necessary - lay down on towels. In general, a sunbed is useless, especially since in the rainy season you still won’t be able to use it effectively - here you are lying on your sunbed, and a minute later it started to rain and somehow you can’t lie down. And 100 baht/piece has already been paid. In general, it is better to leave this money for fruit or beer)). The beach, by the way, is located across a narrow road from the hotel, it takes 2 minutes to walk to it.
Nutrition.
Breakfast at the hotel: potatoes (fried, baked, potato casserole, potato balls - different every day), rice, noodles with poultry meat, fried bacon, sausages, boiled eggs, fried eggs / scrambled eggs (fried in front of you), vegetables (cucumbers , unripe tomatoes, sweet peppers, onion rings, lettuce, carrots), vegetable salad (different every day), ham / sausage, butter, fruits (pineapple, watermelon, papaya, unripe melon), vegetable salad with yogurt (you add yogurt himself), pastries (stunning croissants (like in Paris), cupcakes, muffins, waffles and some other rolls), bread, you can make toast. Drinks: some juices (I didn’t drink, I can’t say anything about their quality), tea and natural brewed coffee. That's what I drank every morning with a couple of croissants)). Recommend.
Food outside the hotel: tasty and cheap. As many have already written, there are many cafes near the hotel (all sorts of Chili, Ging, etc. ), but we only ate in them on the first day.
Then we found "our" cafe, where we really liked it and we dined every day. The portions are just huge, cheaper than the hotel and the owners are very friendly. How to find a cafe: exit the hotel (not towards the sea, but from the reception) and turn left. Walk along the road without crossing to the opposite side for 3-5 minutes. There are orange tablecloths on the tables in the cafe, and chickens are fried on a spit, which is turned by a rag doll - you won’t pass by. What is tested and very tasty: the chic Tom Yam soup with shrimp and coconut milk - 120 baht (for comparison, in cafes near the hotel - 200 baht and a portion 2 times smaller); Thai noodles to be poured with lime juice, Pad Thai - 85 baht, rice with chicken meat in pineapple - 155 baht, chicken meat in sweet and sour sauce, spring roll with amazingly delicious sauce and much more. pl. other. All portions are huge, you can take one for two.

Although the presence of this fungus is quite understandable: in Thailand there is such a terrible dampness that it is incomprehensible to the mind! Here are two examples for you. Firstly, having once wetted one of my T-shirts, I dried it for three days despite the incredible heat. Secondly, our bag, which we put against the wall upon arrival and did not move during the whole vacation, was covered with mold in 2 weeks, so we had to wash it)). That's it.
In general, neither the presence of mold nor the lack of good sound insulation particularly interfered with us. Believe me, you get used to everything the very next day after settling in. Moreover, the rooms are really very comfortable, with a good TV, a safe, even a pair of umbrellas in the closet (which will become your faithful companions if you decide to go in the summer) Yes, and more. The pillows in the rooms are uncomfortable and cause back pain. So we slept without pillows at all)). Maybe it's just that we were so unlucky - I don't know.
Location. The hotel is located on a clean and pleasant Karon Beach. If you compare it with the notorious Patong Beach, then it's just a paradise. Arriving for the sake of interest one day with her husband to Patong, they were horrified by the bedlam that reigns there (garbage and untidiness everywhere, a lot of equipment and the smell of gasoline). I just felt sorry for the people who had to spend time in this hell. So advice: do not take a hotel in Patong.
As for Karon Beach, its only drawback in the low season (from May to autumn) is the restless sea with constant waves (sometimes strong, sometimes not very). However, the minus is relative, because it is also very cool to swim in the waves (even with the red flags that the Thais put up warning of danger), the main thing is to be careful and not overestimate your strength when swimming far. The sea is very clean and warm. Sunbeds are really paid, but we never even lay on them, however, like many other people. They came, bathed, if necessary - lay down on towels. In general, a sunbed is useless, especially since in the rainy season you still won’t be able to use it effectively - here you are lying on your sunbed, and a minute later it started to rain and somehow you can’t lie down. And 100 baht/piece has already been paid. In general, it is better to leave this money for fruit or beer)). The beach, by the way, is located across a narrow road from the hotel, it takes 2 minutes to walk to it.
