Beautiful clean beach
Tell me, please, where can I rest for 2 weeks in the Bangkok area, except for Pattaya, so that the sea is beautiful and clean? Or are beautiful beaches only on the islands?
My friend is categorically against Pattaya, because it is dirty there, and I don’t want domestic flights, we are going to fly on our own.
And another question - is it necessary for Ukrainians to book a hotel in advance to obtain a visa at Bangkok airport or may there be problems?
Thanks in advance for your replies!

Hua Hin. Located on the opposite coast of the Gulf of Thailand from Pattaya, 200 km southwest of Bangkok. Absolutely charming place, not yet fouled by our tourists. 25 km from Hua Hin there is a young resort of Chi Am. It is here that the official residence of the royal family is located.

There will be no problems with visas. Arrive, fill out a form, pay money and get a visa :)

And why is it other than Pattaya?
There are very beautiful beaches here:

You have a very strange friend :)
How can you even judge a city that you haven't been to yet...
P.S. Visas are free again!

Hua Hin, Cha Am. But there are also different beaches, you need to choose one where the ebb is less pronounced. In Cha-Am, the sea is better than in Hua Hin, there are almost no people on the beach, especially in the morning. You can get there by bus from Bangkok from the South Station or from the Victoria Monument. From the a / p did not find a bus to Hua Hin, but it is possible that it exists in nature.
To obtain a visa at the a / p reservations are not needed.
Visa is free for citizens of Ukraine now until March 30 and then after April 5. Between March 30 and April 5 - 1000 baht (about $30).
As for Pattaya, everything is correct, a friend says. On my first trip, I also succumbed to the persuasion "you must definitely visit Pattaya" and "there is also a sea in Pattaya" - and just regretted the days spent in Pattaya.
Without domestic flights, you can also get to Ko Chang (transfer directly from the airport, bus to Trata-ferry), Samet (bus to Rayong + ferry), Phuket (bus) and Krabi (bus). Phuket and Krabi are the farthest to get, there is a decent mileage. There is practically no nightlife on Koh Chang. Samet is a nature reserve where too many tourists have been taken for a day or two.

here in Pattaya there are really dirty beaches, I don’t swim myself. But you can go to Rayong, Koh Samet (not all beaches), Koh Chang. Yes, and to all the islands you can without flights, only long and tiring. And the plane is fast and the planes from Bangkok are usually large and in very good condition, there is nothing to be afraid of.

Many thanks to everyone for the answers! The information is very useful!
and if you spend the night in Pattaya, and during the day go to the islands to ride on the beach, is this possible?
I understand that the islands do not have such a rich nightlife as on the mainland?

You can ride to the islands from Pattaya every day. The ferry goes there for about half an hour + there is still a 15-20 min ride in a pickup truck, but it's worth it.
Life there, of course, is much calmer :)
As for whether "it's worth going to Pattaya in printspe" - a moot point. IMHO, if you go to Tai, then this city would be very desirable to visit - to add up your impression of tourism in this country :) Although we were there only 3 days (then we moved to Cambodia and Koh Chang), for me personally the 3rd the day was already superfluous, and I was terribly glad that we were finally leaving from there - I don’t like noise and dirt :) But there are also charms there.

Pattaya is a city for entertainment and excursions, but not for a beach holiday. You can go to the islands. There are different ferries with different prices. 20 baht is as described above, 100 baht is non-stop, but to the nearest beach, 150 baht is to the far beach (price in both directions). But a lot of tourists go to this island and it will often be there, too, like in an anthill. If you want privacy. but you need to make an individual transfer to other islands, where you can even be alone, just you and that's it, but it's not cheap.

Koh Samui and Phuket have their own "hotspots" of entertainment - Chaweng and Patong beaches, respectively. There is no fundamental difference from Pattaya, only in the number of hot places per m2. There is very little of this kind of entertainment on Chang, Samet, Lan, Tao, we can say that there is practically none. There are no excursions on the islands that you can go on from Pattaya.

and where would you advise to stay in Pattaya for 5 days (then on hua hin) to visit excursions? can you tell me a good hotel or guesthouse so that the location is convenient, closer to the pier from where the ferries to the islands sail from, and so that the price is acceptable, 40-50 dollars for a double, if this happens :))
and another question - my friend, he is a citizen of another country, will we have any problems when settling in one room?

On some booking sites, I came across conditions for certain hotels, such as "except Israeli citizens" or "Indian citizens only", i.e. You need to read the terms and conditions when booking. I haven't seen anything like this about gests. The hotel where I stayed is far from the pier, in the North of PTT - Naklua. Yeah, I didn't really like him either.
Praise Cozy Beach, Rabbit Resort.

Yuliya_83 it is best to find a tour operator who sells a plane ticket with an included meeting at the airport and one day of accommodation at a hotel of his choice. Then you can look around and settle wherever you want. A double room is booked at the hotel and it does not matter who will live in it.

Amir1, thanks for the advice, but most likely it’s not profitable for me, I’m flying alone, and my friend is flying from another country, we plan to meet at the airport. I think in my case the best option is a couple of days in Pattaya, and then we will decide where to travel next, but most likely it will be Hua Hin or Koh Chang.
Thank you all for your advice! :)
