Does it make sense to go in early October?
Tell me, please, if someone was vacationing in Pattaya in early October. Is it true that this is the rainiest month in this region? Do the rains interfere with rest or are they short-lived, how often do they go at all? If we want to not only go on excursions, but also swim and sunbathe, does it make sense to go at all or should we wait until November? Thanks for the help! :)

In Pattaya, there is not such a pronounced rainy season as on the islands. And in October and on the islands the rainy season is coming to an end. Rains are different - from half an hour to half a day. Swimming and sunbathing is better not in Pattaya.

Pack, thanks for the reply!
Tell me, please, why do you think that you can’t swim and sunbathe in Pattaya? I previously looked at the Dor-Shada Resort by The Sea 5 * hotel, the reviews about the beach are very good, they write that the rest is no worse than the islands in this regard. Have you heard anything about her?
аватар Pachok
Hearing, but not resting. The hotel is said to be good. You know, I've been pecked here several times for my reviews of Pattaya, but I'd better repeat - the sea in Pattaya is dirty. The beach may be clean and well equipped, but the sea itself is muddy and full of rubbish. I also heard the opinion that there are places no worse than on the islands, however, with further communication it turned out that either people were not on the islands, but just think so, or they themselves sailed from Pattaya to the nearby islands to swim.

We did not swim on the islands to swim, the sea in the center of Pattaya is really dirty, the farther away, the cleaner the sea and the beach. We caught a tropical downpour in April, the rain was very heavy, but short-lived. Very soon everything dried up.

if you are going to thai for the first time, you will like pattaya, although ... not everyone. if you want a bounty (sea-beach), listen to the above, there are different hotels in Pattaya, from simple to magnificent, but if you want a cool sea, go to the islands! By the way, flights to Thailand are inexpensive, buying tickets is very simple.
recommend!!!!!!!

All of the above is true. Only a small BUT - the islands - this is a rest-relaxation. Of course there are the same tours. but it's very boring. Plus, it is much more expensive than in Pattaya, which attracts many people. And for me personally, Pattaya. it's close by, no flights. think
аватар Elena.P
Thank you all very much for your replies! In principle, Pattaya is interesting not only because it is cheaper than the islands, but also because you do not need to fly on domestic airlines ... somehow dumb, perhaps due to the fact that for the first time, but nevertheless :-)
аватар jenya35
Elena, I agree with you. This year I was persuaded to go to the islands, though in Malaysia. I'm so tired that the rest is blurred

I read it and couldn't keep silent. Domestic flights - this is what, in my opinion, must be done after visiting Thailand! This is cool! Not to mention that from 10 km the view of the ocean, islands and ships is amazing! And the flight itself deserves special thanks to the Thais. Everything is so clearly organized even in the port, quickly, understandably, the husband is delighted with their organization, 55 minutes before Phuket they will still feed, the airbuses are awesome. And quite inexpensive.
And I completely disagree with jenya35 in terms of the fact that there is relaxation - relaxation. On small islands like Koh Chang, yes. But there are times when you want that too. But there are no Russians there and the Thais will lick you just like the Germans. And in Phuket and Koh Samui - no, no, no! Especially in Phuket. You won’t travel around in one visit, you won’t look, you won’t see, you won’t try, and there are many more such “not” - a tenth of that, then there is and is near Phuket. Pee-wee, Similans, James Bond - only from Phuket, safari, sea fishing, diving snorkeling, Fantasea, Simon show and a long list of what else. There are 80 species of pineapple alone on the island.
And the sea is great! Anywhere.

Jenya35! let me still disagree with you.
1. I am VERY afraid to fly, but the flight and air fleet in Asia (not counting Burma) can be compared with a trip in a comfortable bus - you don’t notice either takeoff or landing. maybe that's why it doesn't occur to anyone to clap their hands when landing? on the last trip, we made a total of 11 flights across Asia, this is despite my phobia!
2.for the first visit, of course, my advice looks extreme, but! hotels that offer travel agencies are much more expensive than the one that stands nearby, on the first line, with its own beach bungalow and all possible amenities right on the beach, but which is not listed on the net, and therefore does not cooperate with agencies. that is, you have the opportunity to walk along the coast, choose a hotel, go to the reception, ask for a price, ask for a discount, etc. ... you will be surprised how much cheaper it is to live on the islands. By the way, Pattaya also applies - try as an experiment, even if you are already live in some hotel, next time!
3. on all the islands, except for very small ones (for example, ko-kud), a tourist infrastructure is developed, and, believe me, you can easily find both night and daytime entertainment there. but! the quality of rest is the sea, cleanliness, nature, excursions are higher

I, too, with all my hands FOR the islands and domestic flights. They will be more comfortable than some of our charters to Turkey or Egypt. And the journey only takes an hour. If the fear of flying is still strong, there are ferry transportation, for example, by the Lompraya company, which, of course, is longer and not so comfortable, and it may turn out to be more expensive.
аватар Pachok
On the islands, accommodation is NOT more expensive than in Pattaya, if we compare comparable, and not 2 stars on second road with five deluxe on Koh Samui.
More about the fun .... well, it doesn’t reach me what is so funny in Pattaya, except for transvestites, clubs and "carrots". All other entertainment is on the islands and even in a larger assortment.
аватар Oliek77
By the way, a direct flight is possible to Phuket.
аватар jenya35
Although, maybe you are right about the islands. I repeat - Pattaya for me is an opportunity not to fly yet. I do not like numerous flights, and I will find a clear sea on a nearby island. 20 minutes. trips and 10-15 dollars per person. And the prices are really not expensive. And I just know Pattaya well and I am pleased to return there.

On the subject of dreiw - on the isthmus between Karon and Kata there is such a hotel - Marina Phuket, it's new, it's three years old, it doesn't even have its own beach, but a cape, and the beach is nearby, it is not particularly advertised, terribly green, bungalows, paths , bridges, signs with pointers, it's cool there!
аватар jenya35
There was an opportunity to fly to Phuket. Which hotel can anyone recommend? Just not very priced.
аватар allenyshka
If now, many hotels have reduced prices and give bonus nights for free. I personally really liked the Kata Beach Resort, it does not give discounts, but at an affordable price, I wrote about Marina, the prices are also quite good. Centara Kata and Centara Karon are within the same limits, good hotels, but on Karon it is far to go to the beach. I liked Thavorn Palm Beach, followed by Phuket Orchid Resort - the price is the same, but it cannot be compared. On a side street, everything is very old, it is clear that once it was nothing. If you love bungalows - feel free to go to Marina, where Kata begins already, it is more fun than Karon.

I looked at a satellite map on Google, in Patong almost all hotels with beaches across the road, is this normal?
аватар allenyshka
Yes. The only thing is that there is a good Amari Coral Beach hotel at the southern end, but there are ebbs and flows. I seriously thought about it, but thank God I didn't risk it. Although the people say - do not bother, there is a wooden bridge on the water. And so - I'm generally against Patong. In terms of living there. You can go to "reconnaissance" and that's it. JangCeylon and Robinson, painted by everyone, did not impress, everything is sleek, there is no local color, it is more interesting in the shops on Katya.
аватар jenya35
We always travel on motorbikes. If the distance does not matter, then what is the best place to choose for island relaxation, but with evening trips?
аватар allenyshka
The developed coast on Karon is the western one. All beaches are good. But after Patong for civilization-entertainment - Kata. On a smaller scale, of course. And along Katya on a moped there is where to move. And the beach with Crab Island is wonderful. If you really feel like it - rush to Patong. It is not far.

Thanks, I'll have to write it down. We are not going at all soon, as much as at the end of January, but I like to think through everything in advance. In life, we would not fly to Phuket, but it is near Singapore, and we are planning to visit it. So lucky :)
аватар Pachok
jenya35, I am planning my next trip to Phuket, I learned information from friends, everyone agrees that the coolest place in Phuket is Cape Panwa. Complete relaxation, no low tide, the Cape Panva hotel is very cool, the price is quite democratic.
аватар jenya35
Thank you. I'll take a look. I still prefer the advice of experienced, rather than reviews of travel agencies.

DiCaprio lived there when The Beach was filmed. It was convenient for him to ride P-P from there. At a price like the hotels I have listed above, it was offered to us. But in my opinion there is boredom and look at the map - to go to "life" as you plan is far away. So we didn't even consider it. Yes, I already wrote - the east coast is muddy, of course not right next to the hotel. Unlike Western. Pay attention to any map - all hotels and beaches on the west coast. Probably not in vain. Although it's up to you.

Was in Pattaya and on the islands of v.t. in Phuket in different years, friends discouraged me from flying to Pattaya, but out of ignorance I still flew ... I was in shock, I was ready to fly away the next morning, if you want to spoil your opinion about Thailand, go to Pattaya ... Pattaya is not Thailand , and a miserable breed can not even tell on that! A disgusting smell, dirt, smog, debauchery and a disgusting sea.
The trip to the nearby island of Koh Lan saved our vacation, we swam there (n, but then we went to Koh Samet for a few days. We wanted to go to Koh Chang, but it was expensive .. and there my wife and I realized that it was better to pay 15 thousand extra and fly immediately to Phuket, Koh Samui, and do not believe anyone that there are few excursions on the islands .. those who have not been to Phuket will not understand this, there from sea excursions, from the beauty of unearthly, it simply takes your breath away, from the greenery of the island, from palm trees, from everything blooming I don't even want to think about Pattaya.. rare stuff.
The second time we flew to Phuket .. it was a delight. Phuket is a very beautiful place, there is the same as in Pattaya but more civilized, and not going there only because taxis are more expensive there is stupidity

It is true that October is the rainiest month.
Three years already here and all Octobers were rainy
аватар mikki_2000
It doesn’t happen year after year, but there will be a lot of rain there. The best time in my opinion is from mid-January to the end of March. (I'm talking about Phuket). :-)
