we went on February 20th. We didn't like it. Compared to Chang. Koh Samui is much worse, as it seemed to us. The photo is in my profile.

It all depends on your budget. I live on Koh Samui, for me it is a paradise. No alternative ... Within walking distance - this is your Lamai. Well, or Chaweng, but Lamai is more suitable for your needs

we didn't like the water in the sea. It was almost like in Pattaya. Chaweng is a little better, but it's not comparable to Chang anyway. I took pictures on purpose, knowing that no one would take my word for it. Although the pictures, as it turned out, also do not believe. Already very well walked people through advertising on the brain. But I liked nature. We traveled all over the island on a bike. This is a must see once. Although I won't go again for sure.
