We were in February 2015.
Very crowded. Crowds of people at the elevators and in the elevators. Especially in the elevators going to the upper floors. Since a lot of tourists come to the observation deck and, accordingly, to the restaurants on the upper floors. Hotel reception on the 18th floor. Market from the 1st to the 4th floors.
The room was DELUXE Space Zone. Floor 67 Especially when down. Elevator access only with a magnetic room key. Without a key, the button for the desired floor is simply not pressed.
The view from the room windows is amazing! Not much different from the view from the open observation deck, which is located on the 84th floor. You look out the window and think longingly, if this is a “third world country”, as our propaganda used to call it, then what kind of “world” are we?
The room is cozy. Non-standard form. Almost triangular. Large bathroom.
When checking in, they take into account which room - for smokers or not, and preferences for beds - one large or two separate. They give memos in their native language. It's called Orientation Guide.
Breakfast on the 78th floor. Access to breakfast by room key. The usual standard set. Big choice. For every taste. You definitely won't leave hungry. There were not very many people. You can find a fairly sparse place. This confirms the fact that the crowds in the afternoon are not hotel residents, but tourists on the observation deck.
From the 71st to the 82nd floor various restaurants. A ticket to enter a particular restaurant must be bought on the 19th floor and preferably in advance. In the most popular, closer to the opening (17-30), there may be no places. Which restaurant is on which floor is indicated in the Orientation Guide.
We came for a ticket rather late, around 17:00. There were no more places in the chosen Stella Palace. More precisely, there were no economy class tickets for 780 baht per person. There were only more expensive ones for 1200 baht. Bought them. We arrived at the restaurant around 7 pm. They put me in a separate room where the happy owners of such tickets sat. The room is small. From memory for eight tables. There were no compatriots. We took a short tour of the restaurant. If the ticket is for 780, then the table is in the large hall and you yourself go for food (buffet) well, plus time limits. In our case, a separate hall (rather a room) and the food itself goes after your stomach! All drinks for a fee. Sat down. And we got food. Exactly. The food followed us. More often in the form of a mobile table, a bit reminiscent of a street top. In short, it is very diverse, very tasty and you can burst. Trying everything in one visit is simply impossible! Sincere staff, who for one thing and suggests how this or that dish should be consumed and in combination with what. Snacks, soups, a variety of Chinese pies, buns, wontons or dumplings, seafood, meat dishes, of course duck, fruits and desserts. And all in a circle and not just once. I didn't even get to dessert. I just looked at the “makashnitsa” with desserts. Maybe because they could not resist the temptation and "Peking Duck" was an encore? Well, very tasty! I forgot to say - a Chinese restaurant. Recommended.
We liked the hotel. "Knowledge of the world for" that's it.
The hotel is one of the highest, a bit old of course, but clean. Our room was on the 26th floor. Everything is as usual. Good view from the window. Large bathroom, comfortable bed, bathrobe and slippers, TV without Russian. channels. In the room we almost never happened, left at 8 came at 24 o'clock. Next to the hotel is a rag market, such as shuttles, there are some good things, bargain. Fruits and macarons with shrimp and sea food are also here. Smells. . . A combination of the incomparable. The movement of the transport is simply shocking, everything is honking, everyone is trying to crush your leg)) Taxi. It is better to take a normal taxi, the meter immediately turns on, on a tuk-tuk the price is negotiable from 10 to 100 baht. Near shopping centers, you can walk. Huge Pantip Plaza, where there is only one electronics on 4 floors, Siam Plaza has expensive boutiques with branded clothes, there is also an oceanarium. As a whole, I didn’t like Bangkok, it’s a very noisy and dirty city, the smog from transport is worth it. But if you want good excursions, then you should definitely visit it, there are floating markets, beautiful Buddha temples, an aquarium here, various shows here. Choose for yourself what suits you and travel ahead.
About the hotel itself. The biggest disadvantage of the hotel is not the outdated layout of the rooms, but the elevator system. If you live on the 25th or even 67th floor, then in order to get breakfast, you need to go down to the 18th floor (lobby), transfer to another elevator to the 81st floor. If you stay in a hotel for at least a day, then you can figure it out, but the first time is a nightmare.
The reception is very attentive and caring, but the vaunted "Russian" behind the counter was not found. I would also like to note the wonderful breakfast buffet (you still have to look for such an abundance of all kinds of dishes). But with dinner at the restaurant the problem. There are no free tables. The only option is a buffet for $ 30 per person, plus alcohol separately. The choice of dishes is not bad, but still, I just wanted to sit in an ordinary restaurant.
The room is clean, all bath accessories are in full volume and are changed every morning.
The restaurant on the 78th floor is superb. It is possible to choose dishes from Thai, Japanese, Chinese cuisine. At what you can collect food in unlimited quantities. The cost of such a lunch or dinner is 940 baht for two (breakfast is free for hotel guests).
The hotel is clean, music plays on the floors, the staff is friendly. It’s a little uncomfortable when in a restaurant they tell you which table to sit at and you can’t change it - all other tables are reserved for tourists, but these are trifles.
If you decide to stay in a hotel - book rooms via the Internet, the rooms are much more expensive on the spot.
Have a nice holiday everyone))
You only need to live in the Sky Zone (this is from the 50th floor and above). There the rooms are much more decent, not sparse, normal furniture.
Our room also had a small storage room where you could hang clothes and put suitcases. Bathrobes and terry slippers were waiting for us there. TV and safe - in the main room, in the same place (in addition to a huge bed) - a table and chairs.
The bathroom is large and has a toilet, a bathtub and a hydromassage shower. Caps / soap / gel / shampoo / cosmetic wipes / ear sticks / toothbrushes and paste - daily.
Red small ants really appeared in the bathroom on the second day. But we ourselves are to blame - they dragged food into the room (fruits, kebabs, etc. ) and threw the leftovers into the wastebasket in the bathroom.
Super breakfast buffet in the restaurant on the 78th floor. The restaurant is located around the entire floor, the buffet, respectively, as well.
Therefore, if you go around the entire restaurant and take a tiny piece of all the variety, your stomach will burst.
Hotel guests - free entrance to the rotating open observation deck on the 83rd floor. The view of Bangkok from such a height is impressive both day and night, and not even for the first time.
