Cyprus for a holiday in August is not the best option - the heat and high humidity even the Cypriots are forced to leave the island.
I support the option with Greece. You can go to Crete, go on an excursion to Santorini, the photos will be wonderful. You can go to Corfu, a beautiful island, a lot of greenery.

Total: a young couple like you, a 4-star hotel, 30 minutes from the airport, the whole island is 45 km !!!!!!!! Hotel by the sea, one, all inclusive. The beach is endless. It is interesting that Hippocrates worked there and you can see his famous tree, where he was with his students, a trip to the crater of a dormant volcano. Photos are awesome. Everyone takes a car, because the whole island is 45 km. In the south, turtles-Caretta-caretta, in the north-Mediterranean seals. Prices in taverns are very low, maybe near the resort of Bodrum, Turkey. By sea 5 km. We drove the whole island by car, swam in the bays alone. For me knowing Greece-Kos was a discovery. Think!
