What is interesting in the estate of Baron Jomini, Gagino
On the Baronsky farm, which is located in the Gaginsky district, there is one of the most beautiful estates in the Nizhny Novgorod region. The remarkable thing about this place is that the estate is located on a high, steep slope, on the right bank of the Piana. The park surrounding the estate is entirely deciduous. These are alleys that rise above the forest. But if we compare this amazing place with the Vetoshkinsky castle, which is located in the distance, then the history of the Jomini estate is shrouded in mystery and not rich. All the facts about this place that are collected by historians are only the stories of local residents. They contain more legend than truth. Serious archival research has not been carried out here.
According to the stories of local residents, the estate was built for Antoine Henri Jomini by order of Alexander the First, to whom he entered the service of Napoleon due to conflicts with Marshal Berthier. He himself rarely visited such a remote place. He lived either in St. Petersburg or in Paris, where he eventually moved permanently.
In this regard, the history of the estate originates from the eldest son of Baron Antoine - Heinrich Genrikhovich, who was also known as Alexander Genrikhovich, and his grandson, Nikolai Genrikhovich. According to one theory, the famous Baron Jomini is precisely the grandson of the famous Napoleonic general. And it was he who acquired the land near Gagino and organized the estate here.
According to the stories of local residents, the estate was visited by famous guests such as Pushkin, Zhukovsky, Dokuchaev, Vyazemsky, Tyutchev and Pashkov.
Like many places of interest, the estate fell into disrepair after the revolution. Refugees lived in it for a long time, then prisoners were kept there, after that the estate was assigned to the collective farm, which located its administration in it. The restoration of the estate began in 2005, when it passed into private ownership.
The territory of the manor includes the estate itself and the ethnic village, which can only be reached with a guided tour.
Ethnic village - these are buildings from the time of Baron Jomini, several village houses.
After visiting the village, guests are expected to visit the manor house, directly to the estate. Around the house there are benches and gazebos, and the paths are strewn with gravel. There is also an apple orchard here, which is unusually beautiful during the flowering period. The ancient pond, which is located on the estate, is decorated with bridges and surrounded by canyons.
