Nizhny Novgorod. Hat dating on the weekend
How can adult aunts and uncles diversify their leisure time on weekends in the absence of children, who, in turn, have a wonderful time in their grandmother's garden? That's right... rush into some kind of trip! (While there is a possibility)
I really wanted (and want) to go to St. Petersburg, but, I confess, the cost of tickets for Sapsan stops me. There is no way to plan a trip in advance, and buying a couple of days in advance and even for the weekend is not a humane price tag (for us). Where else do high-speed trains go? Yeah, Nizhny Novgorod, that's wonderful! My husband was in this city only by car, and back in the early 90s I came here with a class of four! day. It was a vacation - in another city, but without parents. About all sorts of sights there, of course, vague memories))). The only thing I remember clearly is a huge number of people, and just crazy in terms of brightness and variety of shop windows. Maybe there was nothing special there, but after the provincial gray Saransk, Nizhny Novgorod, already renamed at that time, was just a fairy tale for me.
"Swallow" was quite suitable in terms of cost and schedule: there on Saturday at 7.15, arrival at 11.10, back at 17.55, in Moscow at 22.00, for two everything cost 6500 rubles. In total, we have a day and a half to inspect what we have time for.
The route around the city is outrageously simple, well-trodden by thousands of tourists. I will briefly describe for other thousands, maybe someone will find it useful.
The railway station is unremarkable, crowds of people, stupid navigation for first-timers, an unfriendly lady at the information desk... For some reason, I really hoped to see an information desk for tourists with tourist maps, naive, what did I suddenly get into my head)))
Quite decent and clean station square - Revolution Square
I haven't seen so many PAZs for a long time
After a glass of coffee from the saving McDuck, we headed towards the Oka along Vokzalnaya Street. We got into a completely different world, into the past
And you can also come across something like this. Maybe someone was pinned, or maybe, indeed, the sign is well preserved, well-made.
Along the Oka,
past the Fair House,
We headed to the Strelka, to the confluence of the Oka and the Volga, and where the most beautiful Temple of Alexander Nevsky is located.
Of course, you can't go to the confluence of the rivers, there is the River Port.
Well, then along the Kanavinsky bridge to the tourist center of the city.
Rozhdestvenskaya street is a miracle, how good it is. Almost every building has a plaque with a description: when it was built, what was it.
You can't just walk past the Cathedral of the Blessed Virgin Mary, be sure to take a picture of this beauty
Obligatory vitaminization procedure opposite the River Station
That's how we got to the Kremlin
I had a goal - to walk along the walls of the Kremlin - a wonderful pastime! And what a sport, it turns out)))
During the distance, I heard from my husband many versions of why I strove so hard to come here, the main of which is an irresistible desire to get rid of him through unbearable physical exertion. But seriously, a small recommendation for future conquerors of the Nizhny Novgorod Kremlin: try to plan your route from the Dmitrievskaya Tower (from Minin and Pozharsky Square) to Ivanovskaya, it’s easier - you go down, and not climb up the very steep and high steps, and -lots of.
Views from the Kremlin walls - you will rock
There are small museums in the towers, at the foot of one of them there is an exhibition of retro cars, but we no longer had the strength or desire. The maximum we were able to do was walk to the Hampton by Hilton hotel we booked, to which the navigator promised to take us in 21 minutes, we walked a little longer, maybe 30 minutes, because by this time we were already tired, we were in no hurry , staring around.
For example, here is the Palace of Youth Creativity, formerly the Peasants' Bank, I may be wrong, for some reason there was no photo of the plaque for memory.
Or here is a very nice psychiatric hospital. Beautiful building
So, looking at all sorts of interesting and unusual things,
overcoming the next steps,
We have reached our haven - the Hampton by Hilton Hotel in Nizhny Novgorod
While we were walking to the hotel, I quietly muttered about the fact that there is a cable car very close to the hotel, and if there is a cable car, we should be there, we can’t just take the cable car and skip it. Didn't miss it)))
For information. The Sennaya Square area is now being actively built up, there are a lot of fences, so it’s easier to get to the cable car along Bolshaya Pecherskaya Street, turn left onto Sechenov Street.
The cable car here is not so much an attraction as public transport connecting Nizhny Novgorod and Bor. The cost is 90 rubles. one way, round trip for some reason they do not sell. Some photos from Bor
About impressions: well, after Skybridge in Skypark and ski lifts in Krasnaya Polyana, you don't feel any kind of extreme sports anymore. But there is a charm - you are riding over a river, a wide river, so if you think hard, you can catch up with how much horror. When we were driving back, the cabins suddenly stopped, after about three minutes we drove off. When exiting my question is: why, did something happen? They answered that this was a regular technical stop and they should have warned us when landing. Didn't warn. . .
In that area, we saw a few more interesting and unusual things. I don’t want to talk about good or bad, right or wrong, and I won’t, I don’t understand, I don’t know, it’s not in the subject. Just showing pictures
Someone's dreams have already come true. . . Gazprom
It is necessary to preserve valuable things, but I think there is absolutely no point in clinging to wrecked houses.
The next day, after a wonderful breakfast and an invigorating pool at the hotel, we were ready for new exploits. The path lay to the Chkalov Stairs along the Verkhnevolzhskaya embankment. Something is being restored, something has already been restored
But they didn’t conquer the stairs themselves )))
We spent the rest of the day on Bolshaya Pokrovskaya with obligatory photo shoots with all the sculptures,
examination of the work of the "podzoborniks" (a seller in a bookstore told us that the locals call these artists that).
Of course, a party of connoisseurs of antiquity
Definitely a technical museum, which I included in the route especially for my husband, well, I was interested there, especially the gear-drilling machine))) The museum is small, but you can hang out for a long time, because almost all the exhibits can be touched, twisted, pressed.
It is precisely on Bolshaya Pokrovskaya that all the people of the city gather. The day before, the city seemed quiet and deserted to us, okay, the locals have gone to their dachas, but where are the tourists? And here they are!
It seems that every building on this street is an architectural monument.
Look closely, people are sitting in this workshop. I noticed them only when I came up to the next sign on the building to read, I shuddered in surprise, mannequins
Well, this is the caretaker of one of the drinking establishments where we stopped to cool off. Cute )
And here we were interested in a signboard, what are curls, he refused to show us, look, they say, when you order. And in words they explained that this is a chicken breast stuffed with something, wrapped, and baked on top...
But it's time, it's time to go to the station. We have a tradition - in every city where there is a metro, we definitely go down to it (well, or go up). So now we decided to drive one station to the station. Subway like subway…
Only here they throw tokens for passage, nostalgia) The fare is 20 rubles, trains run rarely, intervals are up to 20 minutes. We were a little nervous, because time was already running out.
So we got acquainted with Nizhny Novgorod. The only thing I regret is that I had to book one more day for this trip, but now there is a problem with extra days during the vacation period. Of course, three or five days is not enough to explore this city, there are many interesting things. But for an easy, tireless trip, three days - that's it, two - is not enough, so I still have a feeling of "light hunger"
