Many thanks to the staff for their courtesy and patience! all good fellows! We were immediately taken to the room, cleaned daily, the rooms are very comfortable and cozy! I generally like the classic style about everything, so I liked it! Delicious and varied breakfast buffet and hearty business lunches! Wi-Fi internet and a meeting room helped a lot on a business trip, as there were problems! By the way, the price of the room also includes a fitness center with a swimming pool! I swam every day before breakfast and before bed! Everything's good. … More ▾ Many thanks to the staff for their courtesy and patience! all good fellows! Luxurious hotel! From the threshold you find yourself in the last century. It is very interesting even just to walk along the cozy corridors of the hotel and look at the paintings. Everything here speaks of Chaliapin as a great singer. Naturally, a high level of service, friendly staff and a high-quality security system, all this only proves the 4-star hotel. … More ▾ Luxurious hotel! To the soft sound of wheels you fall asleep in the compartment of the Moscow-Kazan train in order to wake up in the morning in the third capital. The most ancient capital of Russia.
Kazan is a hospitable and affectionate city. Here you will not meet the bustle of Moscow or St. Petersburg underground chic, rather you will breathe in the juicy, cozy, moisture-saturated air and dissolve in pilgrimage calm, idle festivities and many hedonistic joys of traditional Tatar cuisine. A sign of culture is an explicit, or secret, but continuity. A magical pattern will come back to haunt embroidery, decorated household items, utensils, and will respond on a city street, in a cast-iron lace lattice, interior painting, facade stucco, fountain design...
The thousand-year-old beauty of Kazan is freely spread on the eternal hills. Modern buildings harmoniously fit into the map of the old city, without violating its main color - the interweaving of two cultures - Muslim and Orthodox. Churches and mosques peacefully coexist here, innovations become traditions, discoveries become rules, and the most successful compromises become laws. On the streets here and there flash bright, elegantly embroidered scarves - the main decoration of Muslim women, which is especially common in the Old Tatar settlement... A gentle girl's face framed by a silk scarf is a beautiful memory. They say that this is a modern tradition that came to Tatarstan from Turkey, but even a century ago, Tatar women wove coins, pendants, and jewelry into their thick dark braids, which rang softly when walking.
The name of the city "Kazan" (translated from Turkic - a cauldron) corresponds to the seething rhythm of the city's life... Kazan, cauldron, cauldron. The word home-stove... In world symbolism - a cauldron - a giver of vitality, a source of power. Legends say that a golden cauldron was buried under the city, which brings happiness... Who buried the cauldron is a mystery, either the Bulgarian beauty Tuibika, or the son of the king Altynbek, whose servant dropped the Khan's golden cauldron into the stream, which was considered a good sign, and laid on that place city. Historically, Kazan is a crossroads of trade routes, and it retains this privilege to this day, remaining a business center. . . The districts of the third capital are located on the left and right banks of the Kazanka River. On the left - old, on the right - new...
It is difficult to explain why Kazan is so good. Despite the fact that she is small, the beauty cannot be captured the first time. In order to be saturated with its spirit, you need to become an integral part, which means not to sit on a sightseeing bus, lazily looking through the wide windows at the pictures replacing each other, but to leave the hotel door and go, as they say, “wherever your eyes look”... This is one one of the few cities that is worth “wandering around”...
The main points of the Kazan route, which will help you get the first, albeit superficial, but vivid idea of the city, are: 1) the Kremlin, 2) Kremlin street, 3) Pushkin street, 4) Freedom Square, 5) Karl Marx street, 6) Street Bauman.
The main pedestrian arteries of the third capital depart from the white-stone Kremlin. You can start with any, the main thing is to visit the Kremlin complex itself on a hill at the confluence of two rivers - the Volga and the Kazanka. The Spasskaya and Tainitskaya towers are the main decorations of the ancient walls. In 2005, brave citizens of Kazan completed the construction of the main mosque of Tatarstan - Kul Sharif, located on the Kremlin territory, next to the world-famous Syuyumbike leaning tower and the Cathedral of the Annunciation. Describing the beauty of the mosque is a useless exercise. This work of art must be seen. The mosque is functioning, a representative of any denomination can easily enter it. Girls at the entrance will be given capes covering their heads and shoulders. Inside, in the Museum of Islam, it is worth seeing a collection of the rarest manuscripts of the Koran, admiring the wall paintings, the luxurious interior of the prayer halls. Of course, it is better to visit the Kazan Kremlin with a guide who will not only take you through the main sights and monuments of the complex, but also tell the legend of Queen Syuyumbika near the famous leaning tower, invite you inside the Annunciation Cathedral, where ladies are given sky-blue handkerchiefs at the entrance - to cover their heads , will lead by the Presidential Palace, show the famous front gates, decorated with characters from fairy tales and myths, faces of the sun and moon, as well as the twelve signs of the Zodiac.
The famous copy of the icon of the Kazan Mother of God, donated to the city by the Pope of Rome, is located in the only church left from the monastery of the Kazan Mother of God, the gate of the Cross Exaltation, on Bolshaya Krasnaya Street. It is in front of this icon that numerous candles “bow” and “cry”, and people who come from different parts of the earth trust Mother with all the most intimate and even give gifts.
Kazan is a panoramic city. From every hill you can see it from a new, unexpected side. For example, from the observation deck of the Kremlin complex, a bewitching view of the Kazanka River and its opposite bank opens up, the Millennium Bridge in the form of a giant letter “M”, erected in honor of the millennium celebration.
A walk outside the Kremlin walls is a separate activity. Squares, parks, lakes, ponds, monuments, lush flower beds, stucco molding on the facades of old mansions, quiet lost streets with two-story wooden houses that have survived in some places create a nostalgic mood... A literary city, a city of inspiration... In the historical center, almost every building is a witness to significant of events, a ball gown will flash behind a half-dark window, a candle flame will flash, or fragments of lines of famous writers and poets of bygone centuries who visited Kazan will be heard... The local museums carefully preserve the memory of their great inhabitants. You can visit the Literary and Memorial Museum of M. Gorky, the house-museums of Salih Saydashev and V. I. Lenin, Museum of E. A. Boratynsky, the gallery of the artist Konstantin Vasiliev.
Cultural heritage of the Republic of Tatarstan - manuscripts, canvases, archaeological finds. And depending on what interests you more, you can create a program for visiting them. The National Museum of the Republic of Tatarstan has collected interesting ethnographic exhibits within its walls. The Hermitage-Kazan Center, a branch of the St. Petersburg Hermitage Museum, holds the most interesting exhibitions from its funds. The pearl of the museum collection of the State Museum of Fine Arts of the Republic of Tatarstan is the hall with paintings by Ivan Shishkin, whose real-life works cannot be compared with their reproductions and numerous copies. It needs to be seen. If you are late for a long period, you can go to one of the seven theaters of the city, the repertoire and cast of which is not inferior to Moscow and St. Petersburg.
Kazan is a city of students. Light and weightless, hovering over the Volga, thanks to its young population, it does not leave a feeling of heaviness and does not “crush” with the old days... If you came here on fine golden autumn days, then in the morning or afternoon you should take a walk near Kazan State University, the walls of which great people studied in order not only to see the famous architectural ensemble of the 19th century, but also to observe student life...
Special symbols emphasizing the identity of Kazan are the leopard and the dragon. The image of a white leopard appeared on the coat of arms of the Republic of Tatarstan thanks to one of the Bulgar tribes, who called themselves "barsils" and subsequently occupied the royal throne. The leopard symbolized courage, ferocity, readiness to fight the enemy even alone, which is why it “passed” through the centuries and takes its place of honor not only on the coat of arms of the republic, but also meets residents in various parts of the city, reminding them of their great ancestors. The dragon Zilant, the hero of many legends, adorns the emblem of the city of Kazan. It was on Zilantova Mountain, where, according to legend, the Serpent lived, that the Holy Assumption Monastery was erected by order of Ivan the Terrible, which is still called Zilantov by the people.
Separate page - Kazan metro. Only one branch, but built "in good faith"... They did not stint on it... The walls of spacious, interestingly designed stations are lined with picturesque mosaic canvases, with scenes from oriental fairy tales. And at the exit from the Tukay Square station there is even an exhibition of paintings…
What is the Tatar spirit? First of all, hospitality, which is most clearly demonstrated by the national cuisine. It is simply impossible to get up from the table, as they say, "light", after visiting a Tatar family. Local cuisine is distinguished by amazing simplicity, satiety and some kind of inexplicable attraction. Various types of meat and flour dishes are the pillars and stronghold of the Tatar cuisine. In the "House of Tatar National Culinary" you can not only try traditional delicacies, but also order a master class on how to make them. On the contrary, in the “House of Tea”, you can quickly have a Tatar snack for almost nothing, by Moscow standards, of course. As for souvenirs, it is worth buying the famous sweets “chak-chak”, “talkysh-kalyave”, “kosh-tele” in Behetle branded stores, here they are always fresh. To the credit of Kazan, it is worth noting the good level of service in restaurants and cafes. For example, "Shokoladnitsa" in the city center, on the "ring", unlike its Moscow predecessors, is distinguished by excellent food quality, good Ceylon leaf tea, which is even included in the business lunch menu, and well-trained staff. This place is far from ordinary…
If you have not yet acquired Tatar relatives, the question arises before you: where to stay? Let's take a short tour. . . Kazan hotels are designed for various guests. And each has its own face. Their pricing policy is just as different, but definitely democratic. Even in the four-star "Chaliapin", favored by celebrities and media characters, located in the very center, on the so-called "Ring", you can rent a single room for 2600 rubles. If you want to wake up to the ringing of bells and watch the awakening of the city while drinking “freshly brewed” coffee, you should visit this marvelous colorful place, as if created for contemplative pastime. From myself, I sincerely recommend trying the most delicate morning dessert - "Temptation", the recipe of which is known only here. Unusually delicious. "Chaliapin" inside is a real town in a snuffbox. Retro style creates a relaxed atmosphere of comfort. Art connoisseurs can safely walk around the floors and see a collection of rare photographs of Fyodor Ivanovich in theatrical costumes, and on the fourth floor of the hotel an art exhibition is constantly open, where you can not only admire the canvases with Kazan views, but also purchase some of the works of the masters.
… All this is even worth spending a long-awaited vacation here.
