NG meeting in Europe - samtour
Looking forward to some advice from seasoned travelers. This year I would like to meet NG with families and friends somewhere in Europe, but not by bus tour (organized excursions + transfers are not interesting), but by ourselves. Wishes: to settle for 3-4 days somewhere where there is something to see and where to go, the place should be such that you can get there by bus from Kyiv. Not necessarily a large city, maybe something small but cozy closer to the mountains, where you can go for 1 day and try to ski (but this is not necessary).
I don’t want to meet at home, we have already met in the Carpathians ...
For example, Poland, Krakow.
For some reason, drop out: Budapest, Prague. What do dear forum users think? Has anyone had this experience, or am I too naive in my desires?
Thank you all in advance and +1 to the reputation)))

I somehow have a bad idea - for 1 day to try to get up on skis.
Why travel so far?
You can go to Migovo and have a good time. This is me about - that in 3 - 4 days it’s really possible to “become skiing”
Bus from Kyiv - probably there. Although the train / Kyiv Chernivtsi / + taxi is more convenient.
The only thing - I didn't finish watching - what do you want for the New Year ... There for sure - package tours.

If by car, then in the winter to Krakow, and indeed anywhere for 3-4 days, I consider it not optimal, there is little time. If by plane, everything here is from the budget, there are many options.
Krakow is an option, Zakopane is not far enough (but this is not Austria or France for you). But Krakow itself is a very cool city, I don’t know if this is true in winter ;-)
There are many interesting places near Krakow, although these are mostly castles or romantic ruins of castles in picturesque forests. In winter, apparently, not very picturesque.
Well, Velichka, you can please - salt caves underground. In winter, it will be warmer below than on the surface. There is an underground church and an underground restaurant - choose what is closer to your soul.
Try Romania, won't you? There are 6 ski resorts connected by a railway line and there is a train from Ukraine. True, I traveled by train only to the nearest Romanian city after the border, I don’t know where they go next. In Romania, cool Brasov, Ryshnov, Sinaia - all this is next to the ski resorts, not very far and not very expensive. But here the options are car or train. Air is not convenient, IMHO. Bran Castle, which is always called Dracula's castle, is also nearby.

Along the way, if the monasteries are auto-painted on the outside, they are really very beautiful and unlike anything else. Google, for example, Voronets. There are 6 of them, under the protection of UNESCO.

I don’t really want a car, it would be better to take a bus.
In Krakow, it attracts that there is supposedly a water park, you can fulfill your duty to the younger generation, and see the salt caves.
Romania - I will study the indicated places on the internet, thanks.
I also had thoughts of going to Bratislava, where you can go to Vienna for 1 day, and housing is inexpensive, but I have been to Bratislava 3 times, a pale parody of Prague, the historical center - walk around in 5 minutes ...

it is not far to slovakia, and there are skis there. but somehow Slovakia itself 9th, although I wasn’t), but it seems to me less interesting
Krakow is a wonderful city. where they hang out and relax. and the salt caves are very interesting
but here you will spend a day by bus, wherever you go. one way. need to spend the night. as an option to leave Lviv. there is more traffic

And don't forget that Europe is Catholic. NG itself is not particularly celebrated there. most places are closed.

Anetka-gan, where lies in Slovakia-Tatras-there to Vienna and Bratislava is not close. But there are in addition to skis a lot of all kinds of thermal water. Beshenova-base-thermal pools, but there is also a water park and various cool saunas. There is also Tatralandia thermal baths and water park, but there is more bias towards the water park. All this is Liptovsky Mikulash. The resort is near the ski-clear. There are castles nearby, the food is very tasty and cheap. There are closer to Ukraine, the High Tatras, there are also spa resorts, thermal resorts. There are locks. Actually, that's all. Oh, there are natural caves too. I can give a link if you are interested

I'm probably not interested because I don't like skiing

I was in Krakow right after the New Year! And I can safely advise him for a short tour.
Two days with a head will be enough for the city itself, Velichka - as a separate event :)
The water park there is not "type", but quite decent! It was very cool for us to relax there in the evening after the bus crossing, and there was snow and frost all around behind the glass, and some of the slides were twisted, as it were, outside the building.
It’s 90 km to Zakopane, it’s the best thing to have a good time - go up the funicular to Gubalowka, there you will find snow, beauty and the opportunity to just take a walk, drink mulled wine and raspberry beer, eat bigos and hot sausage, or ride snowmobiles, sleds and skiing on slopes of varying degrees of difficulty, including on almost flat :)

I had no luck with Slovakia - everything was just disgusting in the equally disgusting place of KROMPACHI. Friends go to Jasna, they are happy - but this is entertainment for skiers.
And in Bratislava, in general, there is nothing to do.
If Prague is out of the question, then I am for Krakow!

And, nevertheless, my advice: if you are going to a group of like-minded people / drinking buddies), with children, on a limited budget, with plans to travel by bus, take a "naked" ready-made tour! You won’t get any cheaper from Kyiv to your destination and back, given the season, and you’ll spend a lot of nerves on organizational issues - I tell you for sure, as a person who usually organizes everything for everyone. If you want to go on organized excursions - you will go, if you don't want to - no. For example, when we went to Krakow in winter, it was like this: departure from Kyiv in the morning, in the evening we were in Krakow, an organized trip to the water park, a 3 * hotel is good, next to the Carefur supermarket, on the second day an overview (it is included in the price, but it was possible to bud), free time, third day free, yesterday Wieliczka for those who wish, on the fourth - an organized trip to Zakopane (brought, unloaded, picked up in the evening), on the fifth we went home, at the request of the group we taxied back to Lancut, looked lock. And, attention - all this joy for $ 135 per person. Later I saw this one here they have a 50-60 dollar jorge, but, you see, this is a ball.

Well, I started with a ready-made tour, I saw an offer just for Krakow, it looks like the same tour - 4 days, with a departure to Zakopane. The cost is 119 Euro per person (although at the rate of 20). But annoying is that the hotel is somewhere outside the city. I used to book hotels myself and live in the center, it’s convenient - I wanted to - when the children fell asleep, I crawled out with drinking companions to the center to catch up with the next dream))) In Prague, for example, organized tourists lived for an hour by tram, and I for the same price - 2 minutes from the Old Town.

Taxi. With such savings on the tour, it is quite lifting costs. And Krakow is a small city, where you can get from the "countryside" to the center in 10 minutes, depending on which "countryside". Or ask the operator about the possibility of booking another hotel.
