Independently to the Czech Republic
Good evening, comrades. I appeal to experienced tourists :) In general, my wife and I are going to the Czech Republic next year. But we do not want to contact tour operators. We want to be our own masters and decide for ourselves how, where and what. I started to dig a little on the Internet and decide what to do. Stuck on the first issue - housing. I omit the question of the road - by car, through Poland. Yes, I will deal with visas myself. But housing is a problem. Do not want to come and look on the spot to try to find a decent option. While sifting through the internet, I came across this article. Through online booking (as I understand it is possible even without prepayment) about 250 euros / week to invest in housing. Experienced opinions are interesting. What is the best thing to do, who to contact. Thank you.

We traveled in 2008 on our own. We lived in the Vitkov hotel. We traveled through Poland for 2 days. I recommend spending the night in the hotel "At the crumbs" about 100 km. From the border. There are many impressions, there is something to share. If you are interested, write in a personal, I will answer with pleasure.

Thanks for the answer! For prices, it probably makes no sense to ask - 4 years have passed. Did you book in advance? Or were you looking for a hotel on the spot?

I can sort out the price. For today 47 euros double. With breakfast. Very close to the center. 10 minutes by car. The hotel has underground parking. Booked from Kyiv, two weeks in advance. The rooms are ok, we only stayed overnight. Most importantly, in the center, everything is nearby and budget.
We dined where we would find lunch. And they ate dinner in the room, with what they bought in the nearest shop. After all, next to spiritual food, you least of all think about the stomach.

It's clear. Thank you very much :)

In addition to hotels, the Czech Republic has a very developed camping system. If you have not had experience of living in such, then I will explain to you that in addition to very budgetary, ascetic and modest housing, many campsites offer chalets, cottages, etc. Prices in the Czech Republic are almost the cheapest in Europe for camp houses. And the comfort level. The advantages of campsites are the price, as a rule, beautiful places in nature (but often suburbs), the presence of a full-fledged kitchen, silence (if there is no festival nearby, if it is not the sea).
Cons - it is quite difficult for beginners to understand camp systems and their pricing policy.
Many types of accommodation - motorhome, tent, eco-house, house without a shower, house without a kitchen, house with everything, etc. Therefore, you need to choose the type carefully so as not to accidentally take an eco-house or a comfortable tent there ;-)
Let's just say that in Prague, in the city itself, there is a camping quarter. In May 2008, without prior reservation, we could not even settle with our own tent! There were no seats at all!
There was such a movement! Basically, of course, motorhomes. As a result, we settled in a camp 30 km from Prague, for 7 (!!!) euros for 2 people in wooden houses, good, only with a shared kitchen and a shower for tokens (common practice for camping).

Also, the minus of many campsites is that you have to clean it yourself or the convenience is a paid service. I have not met campsites where cleaning was included in the price.
Personally, I really love camping, especially if the trip is by car, when you can live in peace in nature.

Again, the important thing is, will you change accommodation every couple of days or will you check into one hotel and live in it?
If you change places of residence, then the hotel, of course, is better.
Campsites are often not accommodated for a day.
