Night photography
I apologize in advance for a possibly stupid question. I traveled quite a lot of countries and everywhere there is one problem - I can’t get evening photos (I didn’t get a photo of the Eiffel Tower). I noticed that not only I have such a problem, judging by the posted photos on this site. The camera is new, there are settings for night photography, but the pictures are blurry or with some white spots. Some shots are still successful, but rarely. In household appliances stores they didn’t tell me anything worthwhile. What can you advise?
Thanks for the replies.

In order to get high-quality night shooting, you need several criteria, the capabilities of the camera itself, if the SLR then the lens, and you need a tripod.

Can't do without a tripod? I didn't see anyone filming with a tripod.

It’s possible, but it’s not easy, you can put the camera on some kind of convenient elevation, which will come across on the ground, but this limits the shooting angle, but you can also get a good shot. It's just that with night lighting, while the aperture opens and closes, more time passes, and the hands at this moment can even tremble slightly, which is where the blurring of the frame comes from.

well, if you can hold the photo for a couple of seconds without the slightest movement. A tripod is needed to eliminate even the slightest fluctuations.

I sent you a personal letter with a link, maybe there is something else useful they will advise.
аватар lsklsk
Ruslan, does this only apply to night shooting?
аватар Lina23S
I agree, but if it's a DSLR, then it's not so simple, maybe you need to swing your hands)))
аватар Ruslan33
Not only. Large-scale shooting at long distances also places demands on stabilization.

Thanks everyone for the replies.

Don't expect anything out of the blue. Tripod only. You can set the sensitivity to 1600 (but the quality suffers from this), you can try to capture maximum artificial lighting in the frame, you can open the aperture to the maximum, you can “freeze” (it’s better to shoot while exhaling), but without a tripod this is not night shooting, but at dusk, rather. I shoot from a tripod at night and exposures are 10-15-20 seconds. with hands you get a bright, beautiful blurry spot ;-)
I shoot in a hurry, for myself, but with a tripod and a SLR camera without flashes. There is no super quality, but what I want to convey in the photo usually turns out:

No thanks, this is a lot, I have enough of your successful shots from future trips.)))

Thanks again everyone for the help.

For example: one and the same place (lighting), one photographer and one camera.
Photo from hands:

Photos from the railing (consider a tripod):

In general, this is a topic for photo forums, where everything has long been painted ;-)

I apologize for the possibly unhelpful hint due to the fact that I misunderstood what kind of white spots you get - but they “crawl out” in my pictures due to the dustiness of the lens from the inside (it was like trotting through the desert in Egypt ))) ). In daytime shots, dust particles do not create artifacts at all - but when shooting at night, in particular, distant objects, they spoil the photo (actually, when the flash is on). Probably something to do with the refraction of light lenses.

If white spots are only on night photos, then this is most likely not dust, sand.
If only at night, then these are different glare from bright point light sources, which are significantly brighter than the rest of the space.
Soap dishes can also poorly focus in adverse conditions (night, fog, rain, haze, smog ...) and it is quite possible that the frame will be blurry (autofocus "grabs" something on the lens (a speck of dust, a scratch), since neither cannot focus on anything else).
Mode, settings is already the tenth thing, if it's dark around)))

http://my.turpravda.ua/Anetka-gan/gallery/13208/88508.html this photo was taken from a tripod =)
without a tripod at night - no way))
or snuggle up to the support, but you need to stand well on your feet and not move))
аватар Biker_Oksana
Yes, the sand meant, sealed up.

"I'm sorry for the possibly bad hint due to the fact that I misunderstood what kind of white spots you get - but they "climb out" in my pictures due to the dustiness of the lens from the inside"
It is doubtful, but even in this case there is a lens protection. This is a screw-on glass that takes on scratches and stains. As soon as the photos begin to suffer, I unscrewed the protection and put on a new one. Of course, if we are now talking about "DSLRs"
аватар Anetka-gan
"glass" this is called a filter)) and there are many means for cleaning optics)))

And I think that KiskaMary is not about DSLRs)))
аватар shumera
You need a tripod and take pictures without a flash so that there are no white spots (this is dust in the light of the flash)
аватар shumera
Or in sustained flash mode
аватар shumera
It is possible without a tripod, only then you need to put it somewhere - and not the slightest movement - then everything will be clear
аватар shumera
You can still increase the iso sensitivity in the camera settings, only one thing - the graininess of the picture is high.
аватар Ruslan33
"And I think that KiskaMary is not about DSLRs)))"
Yes? How did you know? Did I miss something?
аватар hatinka
Ruslan33, only according to the wording of the question
аватар lsklsk
Thanks a lot, everyone! I am not an amateur photographer, but I want to bring high-quality photos from trips. I hope everything works out thanks to your advice.
аватар Ruslan33
"Ruslan33, only according to the wording of the question"
congratulations, I'm dumber. I do not look through the logic on the "soap box"!
аватар Anetka-gan
Ruslan, they didn’t call you stupid))
just one by one perceives what is written, the other differently. this is the Internet, not everyone can correctly put a question-proposal here
аватар Ruslan33
in no case! I'm just being self-critical!
