My father, as a young soldier, fought on the Leningrad front, was a sapper. He came from the war with awards and a fragment in his lungs. My father grew up as an orphan. His father, my grandfather, died during the liberation of Poland, and his mother, my grandmother, died on a post-war hunger strike in 1946. The second grandfather was captured and spent 2 years in concentration camps. The Americans were liberated. He returned to our side and was kept in Soviet camps for two more years.
Blessed memory to them.
