If you are going to the East and are afraid to be "shocked" by the difference between Europe and the East, it's better not to go, there will be a shock. Or prepare carefully by reading about each of the countries. I would advise Turkey, the hotels there are closer to European ones. I would recommend the hotels of the Austrian chain Magic Life. They are in Turkey, and in Egypt, and in Tunisia. Very decent level, service (almost) European, excellent food, fresh juices included, great animation, many sports for free. But they are not cheap, especially in summer. The best time to go is September-October.
