Portugal / Portimao
What is of interest to the tourist is the center and the Praia da Rocha beach resort area, where the beach and hotels are located, with all the associated infrastructure (cafes, restaurants, casinos, etc. ).
For a tourist, there is a wonderful thing in the center - a footpath that passes through all the places that are at least a little worthy of inspection. It is not difficult to find it - it is such a strip of gray, about 1.2 meters wide. If you start wandering around the old city, you will definitely stumble upon it soon. As a last resort - go to the embankment, this path goes along it as well.
I myself did not immediately understand its purpose, and at first I wandered around just like that. Of those places where the path does not pass, I can only advise the oldest part of the center with the narrowest streets.
I liked the town. Clean, well-groomed, with its own face, with the old town (I always like to wander through the narrow streets). It can be seen that the authorities care about the tourist attraction. It is clearly seen that relatively recently the city was completely restored. According to reference books, the population of the city is 35-59 thousand people. Really - housing stock for 300 thousand. In the evenings, the lights were rarely lit. So, just out of season, housing is empty.
There is nothing particularly outstanding, but in general everything is very nice - churches, public gardens, fountains. There are a lot of various cafes, restaurants and other establishments for tourists.
I myself was here in January, and not on vacation. Locals say that in summer the center is not only crowded for cars, but also for people.
Prices are very democratic for Europe. In Kyiv, I think, it's more expensive, and even more so in Moscow. A glass of port (40 grams) costs a euro, coffee costs less than a euro, and there are also half a euro. Of course, in popular and prestigious places, prices can be more.
Dinner in the old town cost me 18 euros. I ate half, I just couldn’t take it anymore - I ate. I can't say that it was very tasty (the main dish was national - feijoada - baked black beans with dried meat, sausages, beef giblets, garlic, etc. ). But the wine was 3 euros per half liter))).
Praia da Rocha is a wide sandy beach. The beach is separated from the plateau with hotels by a rocky cliff. The beach has a very developed infrastructure.
But behind Praia da Rocha begins a series (starting from Praia da Tres Castellos) of more secluded beaches.
Their visiting card is the rocks protruding from the water and sand in abundance. This whole stone has a completely chic color - yellow-reddish. The combination of bright yellow sand, reddish rocks and the sea is just amazing!! !
