How much time to spend in the city?
Planned a trip to the Benelux by car in July. Everything is pretty quick. The question is how much time to spend in Amsterdam? Interested in ancient buildings, the old part of the city, castles, parks, etc. Can swim.
Not interesting - all sorts of red lights and stuff on this topic, gay parades, grass, nightlife, modern architecture ...
Also a question about the ocean coast in the Netherlands (or Belgium) - is there a concept of a beach holiday and where is it realistic to implement?
Thank you!

Take a walk then yourself from the Rijksmuseum to Dam Square. Light districts are located in residential areas and during the day you can simply ignore them. In Scheveningem in the spring it is quite possible to sunbathe if you get on the spot and figure it out. Swimming in April was cold, but there were some.

Be sure to take a walk from the Flower Market to the Rembrandt House Museum and the Church of St. Nicholas. On the map it seems far, but in fact not very much. The old church with Saskia's grave is unfortunately in the center of the largest red-light district. In white I envy you Amsterdam is a beautiful city. Good luck.

I highly recommend visiting the Rijksmuseum. We were in Amsterdam for 3 days. Of these, 1 day in the museum. It is something. Until now, I am delighted with the little-known paintings by Rembrandt. It was there that I saw them. As well as many other things. Three days was not enough.

Thank you.
We won't go to the museum at all, really)))
Interested only in exteriors, no interiors are interesting)))
And if in time, how long do you think it takes to explore the city?
No museums other than open-air museums are interesting either)))
Let's say overview?

And yet, how are things going with flowers and parks in the summer? Is there anything to see after the May tulips and hyacinths?

hatinka, read my review about the Netherlands, I'm not for advertising purposes, just before answering your question, I had to re-read it myself. I've already forgotten a lot :) And I don't want to write the whole review.
I’ll say one thing that Amsterdam should be given at least a few days (not one) and ... I’m not a fan of museums either, but this city surprised me precisely because I was interested in museums ... and if the weather is rainy, then the most time in museums. Therefore, look at Madame Tussauds, Rembrande and Van Gogh. I just formed some kind of opinion about art after watching it (but in general I am far from it):) Well, the museum of sex too - you will not see this anywhere .... Well, again, where else would you know that Mata Hari danced strip dance for the first time :)
Well, according to your requests - Keukenhof (although it's not in Amsterdam), a flower market, a tour of the canals of Amsterdam, a central park, a zoo ....
To Brussels, too, NECESSARY and to The Hague :)
There is a beach holiday (although it surprised me), I won’t say for sure, somewhere not far from The Hague, but as I looked in May, I thought that it’s probably good there in the season, the sand is clean, the sea is beautiful, the beach is big enough. I was told that in the season they swim, sunbathe, etc.

Thanks, I'll definitely read it!
