When arriving in Kuala Lumpur, money should be changed in the city at banks. Stayed at the Renaissance Hotel. The view from the room on the 20th floor of the Petronas Towers (88 floors) was impressive, but such rooms with a view must be specifically requested upon check-in. If you want to stand on the air bridge between the towers, you need to take a free ticket on the first floor of the towers before lunch (preferably earlier). Enjoyed dinner at the TV tower. An hour and a half of rotation (one circle) passed like 5 minutes, many were photographed. I do not recommend lunch on this day. Tickets here must be ordered in advance (a month in advance) through travel agents. The excursion to the new administrative capital of Malaysia, Putrajaya, was interesting. Here you must definitely take a boat ride on the local lake. An interesting Chinatown, which is a pedestrian zone. In Kuala Lumpur, it rained every afternoon every day and it often happens here, although April is not the rainy season. So an umbrella won't hurt.
In Borneo, I planned to climb to the top of Kota Kinabalu, but it turned out that climbing tourist groups are formed 2-3 months in advance. For those who come to Malaysia, I immediately propose to put up with the fact that the prices for excursions are too high here. The average price for an excursion (6-10 hours) for one person is 120-150 USD, in a group of 6 people - 70 USD. There are only 1-2 Russian guides in Borneo and it is not realistic to use them in excursions. Therefore, all tours are in English. From any hotel to go to the place of excursion 2-2.5 hours. You will not see what is in Thailand, but getting to know the originality of the local nature is better than lying endlessly on the beach. Especially good is a boat trip along the river flowing through the jungle, where on the shore you can observe in natural conditions the life of long-nosed monkeys, which are found only here. There are also other animals. Another excursion was to the tropical garden (2 hours drive). Here you will be shown various plants in 20 minutes. It seemed to me that there were also good specimens near the hotel. Then after another half an hour of driving you are offered an attraction. Climbing to a height of 500 m, followed by walking over the abyss along narrow bridges suspended on ropes. But it is here that you feel what the jungle is. In conclusion, local residents will show you the place where the largest flower in the world, the raflesia, grows for another 10 dollars. They find it in the impenetrable jungle specifically to show tourists and pave the way to it.
It is unlikely that anything can compare with the beauties of our Crimea, the Caucasus and other places, but there is something here that we do not have.

In the Nexus Hotel, the right wing consists of three five-story buildings, all rooms with sea views. I lived on the fifth floor of the second building, but the sea was hard to see because of the tall and not very attractive trees. The territory on this side is not very well maintained and is clearly inferior to the territories of the best hotels in Bali. The equipment in the room is quite old. At night I had to wake up from the noise of the refrigerator, but I solved this problem by placing slippers from the room under the legs of the refrigerator. The second problem was the non-working air conditioner temperature controller. Therefore, it was also difficult to sleep in the room at night due to the cold. I wrote to the reception three times in writing about this, all to no avail. But I had something to wear for the night, so this problem can be solved if you prepare for it. Upon further acquaintance, it turned out that the hotel is located in a rather picturesque place with a very long line of the beach. And the territory near the central building looks quite decent and is especially beautiful in the left wing of the hotel, where the villas are located. Therefore, it may be better to overpay 50-70 dollars a day, but live here on the 2nd floor overlooking a beautiful golf course or a tropical garden or ocean. But even here you can lose, as some windows in the villas of blocks 1 and 2 overlook the car park, and some side villas are located next to the air conditioners, which are constantly noisy. There are no problems with sunbeds by the pool and on the beach. There are no ebbs and jellyfish. There was no rain. You can play volleyball and futsal if the team gathers. You can go kayaking, horseback riding, night fishing, etc. Everywhere in Borneo they sell mosquito repellant for $10, but I almost never saw them even on excursions. They are, but very few. No one seemed to bite. They do not know our mosquitoes.
In architectural terms, the hotel looks solid, there are enough beautiful and cozy bars and restaurants in which music and singing are played until 22.30, then lights out. There are no Russians here. Only on the last day I met one family. Loved the oceanfront bar. The food here is delicious and inexpensive. Coffee here costs $2.5, a glass of frontera or cabernet (100 ml) $6.5, pasta $8. There is also such a dish here: three puff pastries with crab meat (there is a lot of meat), and rice cooked in a special way as a side dish. Everything is delicious. The large bar at the reception has an extensive menu of desserts (ice cream, whipped cream, chocolate, fruit, etc. ). For lovers, I recommend number 2 from this menu (here ice cream quality ice cream).
A comfortable bus departs from the hotel every two hours to Kota Kinabalu. The fare is $8 both ways. It goes non-stop for 45 minutes and carries only hotel guests. Shopping here is in many ways better than in Singapore or Kuala Lumpur. T-shirts with short and long sleeves with all kinds of high quality patterns in a large assortment cost 4-5 dollars. Sports pants - $10. There are European brands. There is a large market for cheap pearls (no fakes) on the waterfront, according to our guide. From the hotel you can also take a shuttle bus or take a taxi to other hotels. I went to Shangrilu-Ria, there is a small nature reserve. For $20 you will be shown three orangutans and shown a film about them. Start of inspection at 14.00. Comparison of the two hotels is not in favor of Shangrila.
In the Nexus, a deposit of 500 dollars is required at the reception, but we managed to agree on 300. Such a deposit is due to the fact that the payment for the SPA procedures is made at the reception when leaving the hotel. I regret that I tried them on the last day. The SPA complex made a favorable impression. Contrast baths + thalassotherapy + small oil massage (1.5 hours in total) cost $100. Borneo massage (60 minutes) costs $60.

There are no TV programs in Russian here, but sports fans will not be bored. The English Football Premier League and the European Champions League were presented in full on sports channels. At 22:45 every day one of the last matches was broadcast.
In general, the hotel is quite worthy for a relaxing holiday and a healthy lifestyle.
