How much to change currencies and where?
Tell me, please, how much to change currencies (minimum), if our vacation will consist of a 5-day sightseeing tour and further rest on the coast in a hotel with All? I am interested in the amount with which you can eat normally and buy a small amount of standard souvenirs during the excursion. How relevant are payment cards, where can they be used? Where is the best place to change money? If you tell me how much a standard dinner costs and orient you at the prices of alcohol (during a sightseeing tour), I will be even more grateful. Thanks in advance to all who respond!!!

If you arrive in Mexico City, then it is better to change there. Moreover, it is not a fact that the exchange rate will be better at the airport, but change at least some money at the airport. You will be met by a Russian-speaking person, he needs to find out if there are exchangers near the hotel and where the exchange rate is better. If you get to Mexico City for the weekend - change at the airport. You don't need local currency for the coast. You need to change somewhere at the rate of about 50 dollars. per person per day. We managed to pay by card only once, everywhere mostly cash. When buying souvenirs, bargain to the last and do not rush to spend money at the very beginning, in the Mexico City area the prices are terrible.

Thanks for the answer, but we are flying by charter from Moscow to Cancun, and from there we go straight to the excursion. I read your review, very interesting and to the point. What are the prices for dinners, drinks (in normal establishments), is everything there for cash too? Advise where to buy interesting souvenirs at reasonable prices? Does it make sense to go from the Riviera Maya (from the hotel) to Cancun (I read that there are a lot of American brands in big malls at good prices, is that true)? Can you tell me something else?

It seemed to us that food prices were expensive (Cancun), for example, scrambled eggs plus juice at the airport cost almost $20 (by the way, they take dollars, but they don’t even know the euro). (which corresponded to the Turkish ultra all and even more). About many American brands, they didn’t find it in Cancun (they lived there), but the fact that they took tequila in Cancun was desirable, even after haggling it turned out to be almost 2 times more expensive than in the dutik at the airport (also the same with souvenirs), so next time I won’t even waste time on shopping.

I won’t advise anything about Cancun, we didn’t go there. And what is your excursion program, what cities? By the number of days and the beginning of the route, I realized that you have a different tour, so it’s hard for me to guide you by prices. But the general principle is the same everywhere - the farther from the capital and the resort, the more pleasant the prices. The only thing I want to note is that such a standard souvenir as magnets is present only in the resort area and is quite expensive (approximately $ 5 per piece). In principle, we were not interested in tequila due to difficulties with transportation. The weight of luggage was already on the verge, and hand luggage fell out due to transfers.
