It must be remembered that September is early spring in Mauritius. It might be rainy. Hotels are all good, all of the highest category, focus on nutrition. Here is my film about Mauritius

There are normal hotels for holidays in Mauritius, but they are 2-3 times more expensive than analogues in Asia. From the point of view of a beach holiday, it is better to settle in the west or north - there is no wind there. Specifically, we examined (we drove inside) "Dinarobin" at Mount Morne, "Oberoi" and "Maritim" in Balaklava, "Gunner" on Grand Bay. All normal, only in the latter the beach is small. We were also in the "Pie" on Flik-Flyak, but there is a disgusting beach. And in the "Trois-Bish Hotel" on the beach there was pandemonium like in Sochi, literally the place is hard to find, although the beach itself is pleasant. Hotels cheaper than 300 euros do not have any beaches, often the nearest swimming place (not the coast, which is mostly rocky) is several kilometers away. Plus, there are problems with water supply in Mauritius, there is always water in the high season (November-March) only in the most expensive hotels.
If you want to leave the hotel in the evening and see not only vegetable gardens, then you definitely need to settle in the north - Grand Bay, Trois Biches, Perebir - there are at least some restaurants and clubs there.
