We rested near Ulcinj in the hotel "Velika Plaza" from 06/18/11 to 06/25/11.
About the hotel.
The hotel itself has on the territory beautiful houses-apartments with and without a kitchen, a three-story hotel building and of course a bungalow. For various reasons, but almost all tourists from Russia were originally settled in bungalows.

Yes, Montenegro is not famous for excellent service, yes, a 2-star hotel, but what we saw when we drove into our bungalow was simply shocking. Three old beds with shelves, a broken chair on wheels, two built-in wardrobes made of delaminated chipboard, one of which is open and that's it! Of the four outlets, one worked, the lampshades on light bulbs only in the bathroom and on the street in front of the entrance. In the bathroom: rusty shower tray, old boiler, sink, toilet. Not without pets: spiders, ants, mosquitoes. To say that we were disappointed is an understatement, but we decided to wait a week. Those who came for more than 10 days moved to the hotel building, where the conditions are already quite decent. (Paid on top of 10 euros at the reception, and 120 euros officially for two people for two weeks). Those wishing to move into apartments were offered to pay 60 euros for each day of stay. By the way, when buying tickets in travel agencies, they show photos of the apartments, saying that this is the bungalow.
The territory of the hotel is really immersed in greenery: trimmed lawns, exotic flowers, pines, oaks, apricots, pears, palms, olives and everything goes together perfectly. Silence, fresh air, 5-7 minutes walk to the sea. The hotel is set back from the road and for those who care about a relaxing holiday (especially at night) you can consider this option (BUT NOT IN A BUNGALOW! ). It will also be comfortable for people with small children: there is a place to run around without fear of cars and strangers, fine, warm sand on the beach, entry into the sea is very smooth and near the coast it warms up like fresh milk. By the way, for the same reason, there is no pier on this part of the great beach, and therefore ships, boats, etc. , the sea is not polluted with oil and fuel oil.
Meals - half board: breakfast to choose from 8 dishes, dinner - soup, salad, dessert, hot to choose from two dishes. The food is delicious, the portions are large. On the territory there is a shop where you can buy the essentials, sometimes you could buy fresh vegetables and fruits from the hotel.
Suitable in my opinion:
- those who are tired of noise, people, fuss;
- self-sufficient people who are not bored without discos, animators, etc. ;
- companies that have fun together;
- vacationers with small children.
About Ulcinj.
You can get to the city by taxi - 10 euros (call at the reception), by catching a taxi on the road you can negotiate for 4-5 euros (better if on the meter), at about 9 in the morning you could catch the Ulcinj-Ada-Bojana minibus on the road - it went out on 1.5 euros per person, but you can walk for about an hour along the road - the most budget option.

The city itself is small, with narrow streets and many boutiques. We went to the city on Tuesday and Friday - we wanted to catch the oriental bazaar, but apart from 10 tents with ordinary Turkish things and 2 with souvenirs, we didn’t see anything. The old town is interesting, the view of the sea was especially impressive. City beach is small and very crowded! I would not want to rest in Ulcinj itself. There are really a lot of Albanians in the city, and mostly men who sit in cafes and bars. As we learned later, women mostly stay at home with their children.
With regards to garbage, there is really a lot of it in Montenegro. The central streets and the most visited tourist places, of course, are being cleaned, but the rest....On one of the excursions, we were told that there are many national parks in the country where the natural process cannot be disturbed. It is impossible, for example, to remove a fallen tree, and so they apparently treat garbage there as a national park!
About excursions.
The meeting party was the TALAS-M company, a Mercedes Vito was waiting for us at the airport, we were taken quickly and comfortably. Our guide's name was Sanya, a very pleasant and cheerful girl. We were immediately offered all possible excursions. We chose two excursions - the Ostrog Monastery and the mini Montenegro tour, since we rested for only 7 days, but we also wanted to swim in the sea. The disadvantage of rest in this part of the country is that it is far from all the sights and any excursion takes a whole day, you spend half the time on the road. On the other hand, until you reach your final destination, you will see half the country - it's like another sightseeing tour. The advantage is that there are not many vacationers in this direction, and both times a group of a maximum of 10 people was recruited.
We went on our own to the village of fish restaurants on the Boyana River. Amazing place. I really liked the Pegasus restaurant, the waiter speaks and understands Russian.
In the vicinity of Ulcinj there is a very unusual women's beach with a hydrogen sulfide source, surrounded on all sides by rocks and trees. It is better to get to it by taxi. Entrance 1.5 euros, clay mask (for the whole body) 2 euros. Entrance is paid once and you can come and go several times during the day.
When it was time to leave, they sent us a minibus (for 5 people) with a separate trailer for luggage.
