One day trip to Vilnius
I have long wanted to visit this city. Plus, it's a 3.5 hour drive. And so we bought tickets a week before departure on 9.07. In a couple of days, we learned the news, which was not very pleasant, the Lithuanian border guards start a strike on that very day, but despite this, they decided not to cancel the trip, and in the end everything worked out : ) probably because they were driving at night. In general, at 5.30 we arrived at the station. We drank coffee, had a bite, and on the way, went in the direction of the Old City. Houses along the way came across shabby, painted (strange for the center of the city), so we reached the Ostrobramsky Gate in a few minutes and now we are already in the Old Town. Yes, the old streets are always beautiful, especially at 6 in the morning, when there are no tourists yet, only random passers-by hurrying to work. I was surprised that there are abandoned buildings, some towers, beautiful, but not restored and closed, but I hope they will look better in the future. And so, we wandered through the streets, went to Mount Subachius, where the restoration of the fortress was carried out, it pleases. Then we decided to go to the tower of Gedemin. Using the printed maps, we went to Gedemina Avenue, where the buildings already look more attractive, all have been restored. We climbed to the tower on foot, the path is certainly not easy, but pleasant) the tower opened at 9.00, the entrance cost 5 litas. The tower offers a beautiful view of the city, both old and modern.
Then we naturally wanted to eat, we were "armed" with a list of restaurants and cafes. We decided to go to the Busi trecias restaurant with its own brewery and did not regret it, the beer was really very tasty (they took dark). Prices do not differ from Minsk, although many dishes were even cheaper. Further, on the advice of our old Lithuanian friend, we went to Cili kajmas, though they took only beer, because. We no longer wanted to eat. The price is the same, the beer is not bad, but the previous one was tastier, or rather, I would say, with a more intense taste. Then we went to the Acropolis, well, where without it)) and from there to the station.
Here is another observation, young people there do not speak Russian at all, even those who work in restaurants and other places visited by tourists in the city center. Only people of the older generation can answer some questions of interest.
We were satisfied with the trip, but, despite the fact that the city is small, one day is certainly not enough. Therefore, the inspection was superficial. Next time I want to go for 2 or more days to explore the city more thoroughly) including the night one).
