We were in Sri Lanka in the summer. They thought to go around the "golden ring" - Colombo - Anuradhapura - Trincomalee - Polonnaruwa - Sigiriya - Dambudla - Kandy - Nuwara Eliya, then south and along the southwest coast to Colombo. But when we reached Kandy, we realized that there was no point in going to the south and west of Sri Lanka in the summer (it started to rain, it was cloudy and sad), and we stopped in Nuwara Eliya and returned again in the summer to the east coast in Paskidudu. There the sun is +33 and a clean calm gentle ocean. For myself, I made an unequivocal conclusion - in the summer only to the east coast + sights. South and West of Sri Lanka only in winter. We rested in Trincomale twice, at the end of June and the end of September, I liked it more in summer, the mango season, the ocean was calm both times, but in September it rained for a couple of days and it was cloudy.

We are going to Sri Lanka from Minsk in February. We think on our own. The plan is as follows: the first 4 days of the excursion, then two weeks at sea (some of the company will go home on the 8th day) and more, but you can go on excursions or Ayurveda. Total up to 15-24 days. Tell me, please, which route would you choose and where would you stay if this was your first trip. I wanted the sea without waves, is it probably the western or southern coast? According to the conditions - normal, sane (passed GOA and Kerala), 5+ we do not need to be clean and tasty.

Hello. I visited Sri Lanka twice. I won’t tell you about excursions, but I can tell you about accommodation. I asked questions on this site, thanks to everyone for the advice. Hotel, I really liked the hotel, it’s quiet and secluded, no parties, look for it on Booking, we were there in the summer, the ocean was very stormy, and in February, in theory, the ocean season should be calm there. It’s very close to Hikkaduwa 5-7 minutes by tuk tuk. Once again we visited Koggala Beach, I liked it too, a chic beach, good food, well, mine is a little expensive, we flew with a tour operator, cheaper than it turned out on booking. Next summer we want to go to Sri Lanka again, I found quite a decent Coral Sands hotel, reviews about it are very good and the price is also very good (look for booking). the ocean does not storm. If I were planning a trip to Lanka again, I planned it like this:
1. Upon arrival, I would go towards Kandy and check into a hotel.
2. The next day I would visit Sigiriya.
3. On the second visit to Dambula, bot. garden.
4. On the third Nuwara Eliya and overnight.
5. I would move to Hikkaduwa on the fourth and finish my vacation there.
