We took coffee with us and were very sorry that we didn’t bring a small boiler with us. On excursions in hotels, there was no kettle in the rooms. They don't have coffee at all.

It is far from always possible to find coffee from a coffee machine on the island (although there are places :)
The same coffee that is brewed is quite specific.
If you plan to live in budget hotels, then you will have to go "with your own samovar" - a camping electric kettle for 400-500 g (fortunately, now many brands of household appliances have such).
In good hotels, even 3 * (at least where we usually stay on themed tours) there are tea / coffee making facilities: dishes, electric kettle, sugar.
PS In general, a tour to the ShL is an occasion to taste real tea. Fortunately, there are many opportunities for this. I assure you as an experienced tourist on the SL. We also took coffee with us - did not regret it. The hotel had email. kettle and thermos, coffee and tea bags, but we did not drink it. We brewed our own, because we don’t start the day without coffee. Take your coffee. You can also take chocolate. The locals love it very much, and treat yourself. Yes, even seeds for chipmunks (the Sri Lankans, by the way, also love them and not everyone knows how to eat them properly) I wish you a pleasant stay! I am glad for you, I want to go to Lanka again, although we returned only in December.

Be sure to take your coffee with you! A person who starts the morning with coffee will not find good quality in Sri Lanka even in hotels with a solid 4. They have neither the philosophy of this drink nor the necessary quality of the material. I didn't know about it and I got it. For me, tea is not even a very good substitute, and I managed to drink normal coffee only in Sharjah on the way back. Arabica lovers take it with you to Robusta Sri Lanka.

There is a problem with coffee. We drink espresso from coffee machines at home and at work in the office. And there is only soluble from bags. They suffered terribly;). True, not for long. The tour was only 12 days long. As for teas, I still don’t understand how one variety differs from another ... As for me, tea is hot water infused with grass to push a sandwich ... :) They usually drink it with milk. Apparently it tastes better. And what are they doing with their tea? Nothing special...

I want to say in defense of Sri Lankan tea. there is good tea on the island, but in hotels, unfortunately, only in bags. therefore, boba45 did not understand the taste of tea. in a store in Gala they also didn’t buy very much, but in Colombo at the wholesale market (near the station) it’s super.
