About the flight: absolutely "easy" - if you have experience of 4-hour flights, then to Sri Lanka it's just 4 x 2 + another 30 minutes on each segment.
ALL flights from Ukraine pass with a stopover in the UAE (Dubai, Sharjah or Abu Dhabi). There is a difference in these options, but not significant.
The schedule is similar - departure from Kyiv, departure from Colombo at about the same period of the day.
I prefer the Air Arabia flight for 2 reasons: 1-food - I can choose from the MENU (the cost of food is low, the quality is decent); 2nd place of transit stop - the airport in Sharjah is compact and not as busy as Dubai (although the service there is decent).
You - pleasant impressions of the island: Lanochka is wonderful and colorful.

currency exchange desks (in fact, branches of all major banks in Sri Lanka) work around the clock.
The exchange rates are exactly the same for everyone and are the best on the island. And the exchange procedure itself has been accelerated as much as possible (which cannot be said about banks along the route - it is sedate and very slow there).
Having received large banknotes in your hands, immediately ask 1000-2000 rupees to be exchanged for 50s and 100s - in the Sri Lankan outback, when paying with large banknotes, there is not always change.
Offices of both Mobitel and Dialog GSM are also open around the clock. They are located behind the currency exchange section, in the far left corner of the arrivals hall on the 1st floor of the airport.
Only good memories of meeting with Lanochka!

Phansoft: the monastery in Dambulla, the city and temple of Dalada Maligawa in Kandy and the Royal Botanical Garden in Peradeniya fit perfectly within one day (if you start early from your hotel in Dambulla).
