Calls to Ukraine.
Hello. I'm going on vacation to Sri Lanka. Please tell me how cheap it is to call Ukraine. I have GoodLine, but they are expensive. And one more thing, almost off topic: tell us about the Kyiv-Colombo flight, otherwise I haven’t been able to fly for more than 4 hours. Thanks.

Mobitel (National Mobile Provider of Sri Lanka). The card is issued on your passport. The cost of the card is 1000 rupees, half of which is transferred to your account. The cost of a minute of conversation with Russia is 11 rupees, within the country 8 rupees.

Andrey, thank you so much for such a story. I think it will help me a lot. Today I ordered a ticket, but the first time it didn’t work out because of the flight, they didn’t confirm it for 13.03 Now I’m waiting for a reservation for 16.03, also UIA. And the hotel chose Induruwa Beach. Thanks again.

According to papa 74, one of the mob operators. communications in Lanka - Mobitel. I used both his services and another - Dialog GSM.
The difference is small, both are large service companies with broad coverage and similar prices.
Changed Mobitel to Dialog, because I move all over the island - and I need a good quality of communication, incl. in the highlands and in the extreme south.
About the flight: absolutely "easy" - if you have experience of 4-hour flights, then to Sri Lanka it's just 4 x 2 + another 30 minutes on each segment.
ALL flights from Ukraine pass with a stopover in the UAE (Dubai, Sharjah or Abu Dhabi). There is a difference in these options, but not significant.
The schedule is similar - departure from Kyiv, departure from Colombo at about the same period of the day.
I prefer the Air Arabia flight for 2 reasons: 1-food - I can choose from the MENU (the cost of food is low, the quality is decent); 2nd place of transit stop - the airport in Sharjah is compact and not as busy as Dubai (although the service there is decent).
You - pleasant impressions of the island: Lanochka is wonderful and colorful.

It's a pity that the "edit" option is not provided on this site... So sorry for the typos in the answer like "according to ..." and so on.
I hope for the generosity of the readers :)

Many thanks, Lanka-Lanochka.
I have a departure on 15.03 a/k UIA with refueling in Abu Dhabi. Arrival at 03:30, will exchange offices work at the airport and Mobitel office?
Thank you. And all the best.
Evgeny.

Evgeny: Wow, on March 15 we fly from Colombo back to Kyiv :)
For your questions:
currency exchange desks (in fact, branches of all major banks in Sri Lanka) work around the clock.
The exchange rates are exactly the same for everyone and are the best on the island. And the exchange procedure itself has been accelerated as much as possible (which cannot be said about banks along the route - it is sedate and very slow there).
Having received large banknotes in your hands, immediately ask 1000-2000 rupees to be exchanged for 50s and 100s - in the Sri Lankan outback, when paying with large banknotes, there is not always change.
Offices of both Mobitel and Dialog GSM are also open around the clock. They are located behind the currency exchange section, in the far left corner of the arrivals hall on the 1st floor of the airport.
Only good memories of meeting with Lanochka!

Thank you. Have a nice holiday!

Thank you, Eugene! True, I am with a group ... working. Guide)) Although, after all, my favorite work, especially on Lanochka, is the best vacation.
But I hope you share your impressions about the island! Good luck and sunshine on your trip.

All the best to you too. I will post when I arrive.

I walked around Turpravda. And I learned that you have the Halley Guide. Although I realized that you keep it only for your tourists, but still ... Throw? Please.

Scattered ;) so be it, look for a travel guide to Halle in your box.
We are in favor of mastering Lanochka with inspiration, and not "galloping through Europe", and then scolding both the guides and the country ...

and in two days I passed Pinnawala, Peradeniya, Kandy, Polonnaruwa and Dambulla ..
аватар Evgen78
Thank you very much. For the first time, I chose Kandy with its surroundings and south of Induruwa. In general, it will be more visible on the spot. Thanks again and all the best. :)

Not a bad choice! You immediately go to the "royal" capital, and from there - to the coast. Right?
Float - for a new portion of "excursion" impressions. It is convenient from Induruva to the Galle fort and to the manors of the colonial era ... Must see!
Google "loonugang homestead" and you'll have an idea for a trip to one of the most beautiful private gardens in the SW of the island.

Phansoft: the monastery in Dambulla, the city and temple of Dalada Maligawa in Kandy and the Royal Botanical Garden in Peradeniya fit perfectly within one day (if you start early from your hotel in Dambulla).
But Pinnawala is an extra letter ;) This place has been glossed over for the last 5-6 years: beleaguered elephants, mahouts are begging, crowds of tourists, a lot of souvenir shops...
But Polonnaruwa is a wonderful place if the guide is sensible or the guide is "correct". By the way, complete with Sigiriya, it also harmoniously fits into the program of one day.
Of course, this opinion is subjective, even though each of the routes has been tested more than once ;-)

It will be more visible on the spot, but I plan it this way: Kandy, and then the south. By the way, who will help in choosing tea for gifts (souvenirs)?
аватар Lanka-Lanochka
The one who will accompany you around the island...
On my tour - this is a WHOLE topic: o) But without tasting, it’s impossible to retell on the fingers on TURPRAVDA)) There are a lot of factories in Lanka, places where tea is sold - too.
Yes, and there are already a lot of me here too)) And the diversity of opinions is important ... And then, they don’t argue about tastes.
In Lanka, it is important to understand the characteristics of CEYLON tea. Alpine is appreciated. Tourists and I buy in tea estates. Authentic tea - no additives! It differs in the place of collection, the size of the tea leaves, the way they are processed ...
Then - try and choose to taste.
By the way, in Ukraine there is a common opinion - good tea should be large-leaf.
And the British, who created the tea industry on the island, relied on high-quality tender leaves, which are crushed, sown (calibrated) during processing to get Broken Orange Pekoa Fanning (B.O.P.F.). It is small, but it is not dust, namely fine long leaf tea. It takes no more than 4-7 minutes to brew it. Further - in cups or another (dry, warm) teapot. With milk or in its pure form ... mmmm! Pleasure! It remains to try. Better plantation, not blended. Surely this tea will change your idea of good tea! Happy drinking and choosing!
аватар Evgen78
Thank you. I will taste and, I think, I will find "my" tea for myself.
