I don’t want to say anything bad about the LightHouse hotel, the hotel is good, spacious, the rooms are clean, the food is SUPER (I took breakfast and dinner), very friendly people and good service. But the hotel is more intended for a quiet family holiday and pensioners. No, not only because of the complete absence of some kind of cultural program, but most importantly, because of the lack of a normal beach on the ocean. Of course, you can spend the whole vacation about swimming in the pool, looking at the ocean and imagining that you are there. But next to the hotel there are solid stones, those that are visible and those that are not visible under water. True, some still managed to swim, but I can’t imagine this process - maneuvering between stones on the waves that are constantly here. Of course, I believe that this is primarily the fault of the tour operator who sent us from Ukraine - "Fifth Avenue" from Dnepropetrovsk. They, knowing that my friend and I want to swim a lot, suggested this hotel. As it turned out, they did not know him at all and judged by the photo on the site. When we started complaining and asking to be transferred to another hotel, we were fooled for a long time, the host tour company JETWING TRAVELS called once and then simply did not answer the calls. At the beginning of the second week, it turned out that we refused all the proposed conditions (it can be seen that telepaths worked at the company). And we stopped spoiling our nerves, began to go to the public beach and spent, in general, not a bad time.
Another gloomy impression was made by the city of Galle. The sites destroyed by the tsunami are still in ruins and local residents are in no hurry to build them up. So stick out among the coconut palms the remains of houses, overturned boats, etc. And all this on the road, which we had to travel more than once. There are also monuments to the victims of the tsunami and a cemetery.
In general, I liked the country, the nature is gorgeous, the air and water temperatures in the ocean are practically the same, there are many interesting and historical places. My advice is to discuss your requirements with the tour operator in advance, check everything via the Internet and give your reviews about the hotels. As luck would have it, before the trip I found only 3 old reviews about this hotel and our tour operator denied vague suspicions about the beach.
