IMHO, there is nothing better than cash, it is better to immediately exchange the required amount at the airport. There are plenty of banks in Lanka, but many Russian banks block cards as soon as a transaction occurs in Sri Lanka. For example, Sberbank has Sri Lanka in the top 10 high-risk countries.

changing cash at the airport is definitely more profitable. but I didn’t have any problems with the card - I paid for the tour by bank transfer, I rented it at an ATM - no problem. of course, you lose on the commission and the exchange rate, but on the other hand, you don’t need to keep a pile of cash with you
