I read that there is an Ayurveda center near the hotel.
Has anyone been to Abverda sessions? How does it feel? How much does it cost? Thanks in advance!

Popybali in two centers in Hikkaduwa - the difference is not particularly noticeable. Personally, I had a back massage - in one center, in another full massage and shiradaru. After shiradara, she barely washed her hair, and then already at home. I would define them as massage therapists with well-practiced movements - but poorly representing, although in the second center the girl even paid attention to my problem areas. There were quite a few Ayurvedic centers around us and the price for a 2.5 hour full massage ranged from 1,500 rupees to 9,500 rupees. And you can still ask for a discount.

Thank you very much for your answer. I had a slightly different idea of Ayurveda. I read that almost “holy people” who understand medicine should work there. Could you please tell me what shiradara is? Thank you very much for your answer.

Masters are people who are well versed, maybe not in classical medicine, but in Eastern traditions for sure and the body feels very good. People who work in resorts are more likely to make money on a general strategy, they have well-honed movements, but personally I doubt their knowledge.
And shiradara is a massage of the third eye with oil, in which the entire nervous system relaxes. If I didn’t notice the difference between Ayurvedic massage and classical massage, then during shiradara, oil is constantly pouring on the third eye area, very pleasant. And after 10 minutes I felt how my toes relax, at the end of 20 or 30 minutes they put a scarf on my head and ask me not to take it off from 2 to 10 hours. The oil is not washed off, but remains on / in the hair. Then you can wash your hair, but again, my hair was washed only at home - but my hair is long and medium soft. Therefore, the remaining days I went with permanently greasy wet hair :).

in order to experience the true effect of Ayurveda, you need to go to a special hotel that purposefully works to improve guests' health with Ayurvedic methods. Since Ayurveda is not only a massage or a bath with oils... Ayurvedic treatment implies an integrated approach that includes special nutrition, a system of massages and baths, yoga, aroma and music therapy, achieving bodily and moral balance...
It's the same as going to a Truskavets sanatorium, having a massage there in a small medical office and trying to assess the level of medicine at the resort.
My advice to you: if you are going to Sri Lanka just for a vacation, then it is enough to enjoy Sri Lankan massages and aroma baths as much as possible. But leave Ayurveda for later ... if you really decide to take a course of Ayurvedic treatment and recovery, be sure to choose a special hotel and you WILL NOT REGRET!!!
