I agree with the answer above. There is no civilization as such in Bentota. There are a couple of restaurants near the Betota Beach Hotel. There is also a sports water club. You can go on your own to Galle - a wonderful place and, if you wish, shopping in Colombo.

It is not sad in Lanka, it is secluded and quite quiet there. And in Colombo - quite noisy and smoky, because transport - the sea. But there are nice places in the capital too. But it’s not worth going there from Bentota on purpose, except perhaps on the way to the airport or the day before departure.
