How are things in GOA after the monetary reform of November 2016?
After the monetary reform in GOA and the exit from use of 500 and 1000 rupee notes, now in March, are there any problems, queues? Are there any restrictions on the exchange of dollars? And in general, the exchangers work normally? In January, many faced a problem.

There are reviews on this topic .. look.
Were before NG. . Rates vary from place to place. and there was not always money in exchangers., but you can always find where to exchange - in jewelry, wine stores, cafes ..
Bring bills of 100 dollars or euros .. these changed everywhere and without problems

You can change at local travel agencies or at the owner of your accommodation. And bargain! No one will offer a normal course. Ask for 66 and stand your ground or walk away.

Good afternoon!! Regarding your question, we can clarify the following:

In connection with the monetary reform in India (suddenly carried out by the government in order to fight corruption), banknotes of 500 and 1000 rupees were withdrawn from use. The old banknotes of 10,20,50 and 100 rupees are still in circulation.
New banknotes of 500 and 2000 rupees are gradually being introduced.
Currency exchange is possible, but for a more comfortable stay and payment, we ask you to take small dollars (1,2,5,10,20) and plastic cards with you in order to avoid possible difficulties.
The issue with the shortage of small bills will be resolved within a maximum of 2 weeks. Contact!!

Don't take small dollars!! Nobody wants to take them and change them at a low rate

I know about small bills, they were in GOA.
I was waiting for a response from tourists who had a rest in February or already in March 2017, so that the information would be fresher.
India often changes its rules for visas too, we ourselves have encountered this. The first time they issued a visa in 7 days and put it in a passport in Kyiv, and then they sent us back a passport even before the trip, the second time a visa on arrival, in a day, TO entered into the general list of tourists.
And now the information is again in advance, in 5 working days to issue, and the visa itself will be stamped upon arrival.

I was in India in February. There are no problems at all. The course in restaurants, jewelry and other places was 6600, but in my hotel they offered 6000 for example.

I was also in Calangute))))) How is the sea there? Shalit? Big waves or not?

The problem has stabilized, some exchangers are empty, because it is more profitable to withdraw cash, rather than change dollars. But chaos is long gone.

Thank you all, due to the closure of the promotional flight program to India, the prices are not adequate.
Therefore, the trip to GOA is canceled for this season.

We were in Goa from December 20, 2016 to March 3, 2017. The whole process of scarcity of rupees to their abundance went through our wallet. It turned out to be the most profitable for us to pay by card where possible. True, we have an account in euros and there is a payment notification by e-mail. So that only after paying, in less than a minute, I saw how much they took from me. Different merchants pay through different banks. Therefore, it turned out that, for example, in Newtons, the course turned out to be somewhat worse than in Delfinos or Lavender, but still better than that of the moneychangers.

Thank you! We had a very good rest in Sri Lanka and the food tour came out much cheaper.
аватар Iren48
nadin65, I hope for a story. Is Sri Lanka cheaper than Goa? You intrigued me.

I wrote a review about the hotel, but I don’t like writing stories, sorry. Itself always before a trip I read a lot of reviews when choosing a hotel. In 2013, they also planned GOA, but Sri Lanka came out cheaper and with HB food, it’s cleaner here, more exotic, much better rooms, the only thing is boring in the evening, but during the day you get so tired that at 22.00 we fall down. This time it was 2 days graduation school students at the hotel celebrated in the conference room right under our room, the walls were shaking from the speakers and we fell asleep in five minutes!

taking into account the fact that airarabia could be bought independently for $ 400 round trip, buying a tour to Srilanka, and even with food, so that you can eat shrimp once all the time - it's cool)) It seems to me when people describe TV sets, and that they were bored in hikaduwa (for a moment - the most touristic place), they simply did not understand what Asia is. Although .. they don’t argue about tastes;)
