Is everything so bad in Goa?
Good afternoon. Until now, we have vacationed with my family at resorts that are standard for Ukrainians - Egypt, Turkey, Spain, for the last 5 years on the island of Greece, I wanted exotic things, we began to consider Goa, but after reading the reviews and watching the video on YouTube, the desire somehow disappeared, they were going to fly in January. Tell me, dear experts, is everything really so bad with cleanliness, service, civilization, as many people describe? Or advise another resort at this time, we are two adults and a child of 14 years old. Because of the child, basically, and there are fears.

Goa is one of the most civilized and clean states. They don't fly to India for service. So you can drop this option.

As for me, so rest in Goa, for cheerful companies, because there is no beauty in the Arabian waters, except for the greatness of the sea itself, of course. Service ..... let's say not very good, but if you are fans of excursions (mainly temples), then fly off, and if you like to lie on the beach with chic and good service, ride a yacht, then these are other places

Go south to a 5-star all-inclusive hotel, the service will be decent there, but is there any point in spending such a huge amount of money to spend the entire holiday on the hotel premises?

Nature is super! We also rested in Egypt, Turkey many times, we were in Goa in November 2012, we are going again in March. After Goa, I don’t even consider Turkey and Egypt.

Holidays in GOA are not the kind of holidays you are used to in Egypt, Turkey, Spain, Greece. This is different. You shouldn’t take a 5 * hotel, because in cafes (which are there at every turn) you can eat for every taste and everything is cheap, you’ll still have enough current to sleep in hotels 3 * is enough. Our room was never cleaned for 7 days , we didn’t ask, and we spent the night there.
GOA is not the place where you need to sit in a hotel, the only thing you can follow for a child is to wash your hands well before eating (this is the most important rule in GOA), there were no open wounds and scratches, and if possible, walked along the beach in shoes.
The hotels are all small, there is a lot of fun in the north, not so much fun in the south. If you plan to sleep at 9 pm then south, if not, then north is better. If you take a hotel not on the 1st beach line, then you will have to go to the beach (it was more interesting for us) either on a rented scooter (three of us will fit) or by taxi. We took a hotel with breakfast, but it was not useful to us, because. breakfast is the same every day, eaten in a cafe either on the beach or on the way to it. When we left GOA, we heard opinions that someone didn’t like it there, but for us the vacation went with a bang, and we will definitely return there again

We flew in early February to Park Hyatt. really liked it. and clean and nice and the service is normal. ate on the beach near the hotel, it's cheaper than taking all-inclusive meals, read the reviews. I agree that 5 * service is worthy. We flew with a child of 1.4 years.

As an option, you can consider Sri Lanka, an exotic island, lush tropical vegetation, many attractions and an amazing ocean.

If you live in a high-rise building, near which there are garbage cans and rubbish is scattered, if when you enter the train you see discarded packs of cigarettes and puddles, if at the stops there are antediluvian trays of a shabby look, then Goa is unlikely to shock you. It's just that at home it's all annoying, but there you stop noticing. We were last December, still in the soul a feeling of complete relaxation and happiness. But this is not Turkey and Egypt at all and choose the beach carefully, they are all different in terms of public and atmosphere. Your feeling of comfort on vacation also depends on this. In order not to write later that Goa sucks.

Sorry, not on the train, but at the entrance)):

A child of 14 years old, what are the concerns ???

There are 2 categories of people:
1 - who absolutely didn’t like it in Goa, and they will tell you about all sorts of shit, sorry, on every corner
2 - people who liked GOA, and they will tell you that shit is transparent and you don't notice it.
until you yourself eat and see, you will not understand anything. you have to see it with your own eyes. read the reviews here is useless!!!! but GOA is not India, and it is cleaner there than anywhere else. so you better read about other states =)

my opinion - India is the country that you need to see 100%. but not just GOA, but in other states to ride!

All the advice is correct, but if you want to see another country, any and Goa, it doesn’t matter (you don’t see much attraction in your post to India), then you can really, as already mentioned, choose Sri Lanka or, that Thailand, the last 14 year old child should like .
аватар andrey92006
Thank you all very much for the answers, we decided to still see tours to Sri Lanka or Thailand, to GOA maybe another time, maybe not ready yet)))))

If you like comfort and "hotel" rest, then there is nothing for you to do in Goa)))

It's just that hotels in Goa do not have their own beaches, there is no such isolation from life as in the same Egypt or Tunisia. You go for a walk around your "standard" resorts, but not in the tourist area, but where the locals live, you will see the same thing, if not worse. It's just that in India there is no such isolation of a tourist from the harsh truth of life, as in Egypt. Go to the Maldives!

For a child of 14 years old, what fears are there for small eyes and eyes. Take a good hotel. (Fives - Leela or Taj Exotica are highly praised, but it's not cheap). We chose Donna Sylvia, it's 4 * and it's all inclusive (don't attack me, it's always more convenient with children!), In Goa this is almost non-existent, we already knew it there. The hotel is at Intaera.

We are not going to "pounce" :)! We always have a rest with children and in such countries as Egypt, Turkey, in Europe, of course, All inclusive is an ideal option. In Goa, I don’t see the point.

If you are also looking at Lanka, then choose a hotel with a bay, so that it would be like swimming in the ocean.
We recently returned from a hotel in Sri Lanka → Hikkaduwa: Chaaya Tranz 3 * (4 * it really is, but you can safely give 5 *). Read my detailed review. http://www.turpravda.ua/lk/hikkaduva/Chaaya_Tranz-h19630-r94406.html

It’s really specific to Goa, but if you are mobile people, it’s worth it, I liked the sightseeing tour of old Goa very much (Catholic and Hindu temples, a spice plantation and a waterfall, to which you need to go by jeep through the real jungle). If you want to sit in a hotel - South Goa is for you ... In the North you can still ride a taxi along beautiful beaches ... There is a good website about Goa, read general information there and decide for yourself whether it is worth it or not. In my opinion, the site was called about goa or just goa. I prepared with his help and nothing really surprised me here ...

There is always a point, in saving for the family, for example. The same tour without all will cost the same. If you want something else, go to the city. You don't always want to go.
