Taki alone in Setnendra?
I read the comments, they unanimously write that it is better to go to Szentendra on your own, and not with a tour. But such a nuance: during the declared elective "Bend of the Danube" the group will be taken not only to Szentendre, but also to Vyshegrad. Szentendre and Vyshegrad are located in such a way that without difficulty and, most importantly, UNJUSTIFIED EXPENSES OF TIME, I can get there and there on my own? Or maybe it’s still worth it with a group so as not to fuss? Tell me, I'm lost. The tour costs 30 euros, in the responses I deducted that tourists traveling by self-propelled from Budapest to Szentendre (but without Visegrad) spent 5 euros on travel + meals (in a Chinese restaurant). The difference of 25 euros (260 hryvnias) is not so important, as you want it to turn out sensibly and save money and time.

I overslept Santandre arrogantly, and judging by the photos of my friends - not in vain))) I was not impressed))) I liked Eger !!! Miskolc is delicious there)))
without fully knowing the interchanges in Hungary (roads-buses), it will be difficult for you to get there yourself))) are you going yourself? I would advise you not to bother)) holidays, after all) many people don’t work there, there are few people on the street
аватар Biker_Oksana
Herself. But I'm going on the 10th, not quite the holidays yet))
I, too, about "do not bother." But in ALL (at least, turpravdovskie) comments, they recommend on their own in Szentendre. It's confusing.

In general, I feel that before independent trips I still have to grow and grow ... Dyakuyu, Anya!

in Sentender there is an electric train from Batyani ter

There is a bus from Budapest to Esztergom and Vysehrad. You can also get to Esztergom by train, and drive to Visegrad on another branch, but then you have to cross the Danube by ferry.

All three cities are perfectly visited on the same day by public transport, as we traveled: we left Budapest by train at about 8-30, in Szentendre at about 9-30. We walked around the town, and then, the secret, there is a wonderful bus number 880, the stop is near the railway station, a little to the right, the schedule hangs nearby, the ticket office is also nearby, but you can also pay the driver. It runs every hour and connects Budapest, Vysehrad, Szentendre and Esztergom. We left Szentendre at 12-05, to Visegrad, about 40 minutes. We went up to the Visegrad fortress and left on the same bus in Szentendre. Moving between cities cost 800-900 forints for two. Back from Szentendre by train to Budapest, a ticket for two is about 2000 forints. You could also take the same bus. Please note that the railway station in Szentendra is quite far from the center and lay 40 minutes on the pedestrian crossing or use the bus (like No. 1), but we never waited for it, despite the posted schedule.

Oksana, an independent trip will take you a lot of time, and there are very few days on the tour. If you want to see Szentendre and the Visegrad fortress (toy compared to fortresses in Western Ukraine), I would go with a group for the first time. And since all tours to the south-west of Europe go through Budapest, there will still be an opportunity to go on your own if you have a free day. And I don’t believe the information that travel and meals cost 5 euros. In Hungary, prices are almost the same as in Ukraine. And where there are tourists, it's twice as high.

I support Rovno10 - go with a group, for the first time just what you need. If you ever want to come back, go. To be honest, I was not impressed at all by this village and a short excursion from the tour operator was enough for my eyes. Well, pay 30 euros (especially if you write that the amount is not critical for you), but you will be picked up at the hotel in the morning, taken, and shown. They will tell you and bring you comfortably back in the evening. In December in Budapest it is damp and quite chilly, what's the point of riding around unfamiliar cities in public transport?
Maybe it's, of course, from my lazy bell tower so, it's up to you. In any case, have a nice trip!

Guys, so I thought that in cold weather, look for and wait for transport ... No savings of ten euros are justified.
And I do not believe the information that travel and meals cost 5 euros.

I found this in one of the comments here, on Turpravda, a tourist shared her experience. I don't remember the exact date of the comment, but definitely not this year.

Lord.
I am the one who traveled from Budapest to Szentendre for 5 euros with lunch, though from the Chinese (I also wrote this ):-)
Yes, that was a couple of years ago (January 2010)
And really - to go to Szentendre yourself is a trifling matter.
1. I was in Budapest for 3 days - I had a travel card for these 3 days for all city public transport. On this travel card, I drove to the transfer station for a commuter train (alas, I don’t remember the name anymore, but Google knows everything :-))
2. at the transfer station I bought a ticket to Szentendre and back (it cost about 1.5 euros then)
3. from memory somewhere from half an hour of the road
4. upon arrival at the station in Szentendre, at the newsstand, she asked her grandmother in which direction the center of the town
5. 10-15 minutes walk - and I'm already near the Marzipan Museum
that's all the difficulty to get yourself from Budapest to Szentendre :-)))
and, well, about lunch - on the way back to the station - we met a Chinese eatery, where we heartily ate all sorts of delicious Chinese and paid in terms of 3.5 euros from the nose

By the way, I absolutely support the idea that if you are traveling for the first time, then go with a group.
and, if you are going on a tour, you will not have much time for "independence"
аватар Anetka-gan
"if you are going on a tour, you will not have much time for "independence"
as an option to cancel some kind of excursion)))
аватар Biker_Oksana
Most likely, I will give up Tihany in favor of "independence" for exploring the Christmas Budapest.
Yasemin, I understand that this was not your first trip to Hungary?
аватар Yasemin
no, not the first ... the fourth or sixth .. I had a "Hungarian" period of my life :-)
and from Tikhonsky Abbey, in winter, it really probably makes sense to refuse - it’s cool there in the warm season!
аватар Biker_Oksana
Thank you for your support, I also planned to abandon in favor of the Christmas market - after all, I, first of all, go for the Christmas atmosphere.
