Is it worth celebrating New Year's Eve in a restaurant for 80 euros???
I'm going to Budapest for NY 2010 and the celebration of NY will be in Budapest. As a celebration option, they offer the Trofeo restaurant for 80 euros .... tell me about this. Is it worth the money or is it possible to spend some more interesting NG there????

This restaurant is unknown to me, but I remember exactly that we liked the idea (a couple of years ago it was 20 euro cheaper) - hearty, fun, noisy ... We celebrated the New Year in one of the folklore restaurants in the NG group tour. Ask who else will be, look at the reviews about this restaurant and decide.

Thank you. I will decide...

I don't know this restaurant. we celebrated 2 years ago - did not like it. at 11 o'clock they offered 1 glass of champagne, some were not enough. BUT, on the other hand, Hungary is a Catholic country, and you will not see celebrations in the center near the Christmas tree like ours, maybe chtoli discos. It's better to go there for Catholic Christmas! more colorful.

I can't say anything about the celebration of New Year's Eve at the Hungarian Restaurant. My friends celebrated in the Czech Republic. They didn't like the restaurant. They organized themselves in the main square. There was a Christmas tree, many of the same celebrating. They liked it. We once celebrated New Year's Eve in Yalta at the Kyiv sanatorium. The table was 120 UAH. and your liquor. The table is quite normal: vegetable cuts, sausage and cheese, olivier and something like "Mimosa", apples, 2 oranges per nose, a sandwich with red caviar, herring, hot. Well, maybe it would be cheaper at home .. Up to 10 hours there was a New Year's party for children. Then they were taken to bed. At 11 we met a Russian NG, then ours, then a European one. During the breaks there were competitions, dances. We went for a walk on the embankment. It was fun too :)

I would advise you to decide where you will celebrate New Year's Eve already in Budapest. There are a lot of good restaurants where you can easily book a table. Moreover, you will be offered a New Year's menu and an evening program. In 2008, we celebrated the New Year in Budapest and ordered dinner in Kyiv from a tour operator, which we later regretted. Just having visited restaurants such as Wall Street (opposite the opera house) or New York cafe (I advise you to definitely go there), we realized that it was possible to celebrate much better and, by the way, not much more expensive.

Thanks everyone for the advice. It’s farewell - I wouldn’t mind celebrating elsewhere, but since I’ll be in Budapest for the first time, I don’t know a single institution there, of course .... And it’s somehow hard for me to imagine empty seats in a restaurant on NG .. .it is simply unrealistic for us.

and you through the Internet find what interests you. Now is the age of high technology. and you won't get lost in Budapest. we ourselves were walking around the city for the first time, everything is clear, we bought a small map just in case.

I agree with Anetka-gan. That's exactly what you're looking for there. Enter "Budapest" in the search box, you can "Budapest restaurants", "Budapest restaurants", etc. believe me, there will be a lot of them. See and choose for yourself.

In terms of navigation, I have no problems .... but in terms of the Hungarian language, I think they will (I naturally don’t know it). Or is it possible there, as in Egypt, in sign language and broken English?

We were at the Trophy Grill (or something like that) the year before last New Year. It was super!!! The menu is a huge choice, vegetables, poultry, pork, beef, fish, mussels, octopuses and so on. -everything was grilled in front of you, there was a whole pig, a lot of different sweets, local booze, all for free, the waiters denounced at the first nod, the program ... for an amateur, a standard Russian disco.
The Hungarians themselves do not really like GN, most just sleep - they celebrate Christmas hastily.
In the restaurants of Budapest it was very difficult by ourselves - the language is unpronounceable, the Hungarians do not speak English very well, a couple of times they were very surprised by the orders they brought :-)
In general, if you go through a travel agency, they give the program for the evening, there is usually a menu there. In similar restaurants in Budapest (the same Trophy Grill), the entrance to a typical day is 30-40 euros, and then you can drink and eat whatever you want all evening. Therefore, 80 euros for a festive night, in my opinion, is quite normal.

For Hungarian - don't worry. When we boarded the bus, we were given a short dictionary (one sheet of A-4) with glories like hello-thank you with our passports and a disk... While we were driving from Lvov to Chop, we learned it. In Budapest, English is no problem. Once we communicated in Russian and Ukrainian. We started the speech with the same hello or sorry in Hungarian, then in English and sign language without any problems. You can show on the map where you want.

I'm understood, thank you. We will probably celebrate in a restaurant, and then we’ll go for a walk around the city or look at the place .... And tell me how the prices for food, cafes, etc. are. And it's better to have lunch and dinner. And then in Sweden, food prices were very high ... 4-6 euros for a hot dog (((

I just remembered one more important detail! If you still decide on a restaurant, especially a national one, you will be ready to dance. Maybe even chardash :)
аватар GraybacK
Well, according to the tour program, we will celebrate at the Trophy Grill (I don't know if it's national or not)...
аватар IaroslaviSHna
It doesn't matter which one. Hungarians are a dancing nation. Therefore, dancing is a must :)
аватар GraybacK
Dancing is certainly good, but it's better when you watch them ... So, all the same, the question of nutrition in your free time is where it is better to feed and about how much money to lay on it?

With inflammatory Hungarians - it is unlikely to be observed :)) About food. In December 2008 The rates were as follows: 1 $ - 104-115 forints; 1E - 165-185 for. We had breakfast at the hotel. Quite good. At about 1300ft you could eat a plate of goulash with national pastries (they said delicious), vegetable salad, 100g of wine, tea. At 950 ft you can eat two Gundel pancakes (so small for half a dish each) with cheese and honey, drinking herbal tea. Restaurant "Szinva" address 36 Tekeli Street. Near KELETI station. At 750ft you can try fruit soup with bakery, tea and raspberry jam. Robinson Restaurant - live music. Very tasty food. 4 beers + hot goose liver + beef paprikash = 10 000fr with tips. Rest Fatal, on the street Vaci. In a frying pan over the potatoes and buckwheat with cracklings stood the wheel, the Hungarian national salad of half a kilo of sauerkraut. Account: 4 beers of 500fr. + 550 salad + 1790 handle + tips = 4800fr.
Cheese and sausage slices were taken in the supermarkets (Component and near Keleti station); tangerines, bread (delicious), chocolate. For a check for about 1000ft.
