How much money?
My husband and I are going "savage". Please tell me how much money you need to take with you, not including housing and transport. (food, 1-2 excursions, all sorts of little things ...) p.s. modestly.

I would take at the rate of 50-70 euros a day for two.

To Europe (and Croatia at prices is quite Europe) we take 100 euros per day for two, if the hotels are paid. This is in addition to big purchases.

Look at my detailed report of a year and a half ago on holidays in Croatia, there is a lot about money there. http://www.turpravda.com/hr/medulin/Belvedere-h9237-r13463.html But if you read it for a break, then a thousand euros and a person is enough for the eyes, and if you don’t chic and don’t act too much, then you can keep within 500 but it depends on how long you travel.

We're going for a week. We are not going to cheat. Please tell me the prices for meals and an excursion to the Plitvetsky Lakes. Thank you in advance!!!!!!!

Well, if for a week, then 500 euros for two may be enough. For the price of excursions, when I went, it ranged from 40 to 120 kunas. As described in my link, 1 euro = 7 kunas, but right now the course is probably different, I think it can be found on the net. Of the prices for food, alas, I just remember that a scoop of ice cream cost 5 kunas, maybe there is more information in my report. I will only say. that finding a catering establishment there is not a problem. I will only add that the portions are large, so you can order one for two. Here are a couple of tips to save on groceries. Bring some commonplace crackers with you, buy a loaf and fry in a toaster, I did this when I went to France. You can take slices of cheese in individual packaging and make sandwiches. In extreme cases, things 4 homeless bags. And every day a chocolate bar. Just remember. that it is hot there, and in the heat, chocolate does not go down the throat without tea or coffee, juice or gas water do not help. So take either a camping electric kettle or if you stop in hotels, then a boiler. You can also take vacuum-packed salted or smoked meat and also use it for sandwiches or crumble it into a homeless bag. I am an experienced traveler so I know how to save money on food.

And a little more about food. if you stay at a hotel, then there is a buffet and you can take food out of it, in your hands or simply stuffing it into your pockets. They can arrange a pdlyana on the buffet, see the link about it. It is better to take cold cuts in small packages, so that one package is enough for one time. If you are going to rest as a savage like we do in a tent and with a fire, then grab canned food or you can buy a couple of dry rations at any military store, they even include an alcohol lamp for cooking, and one dry ration is calmly enough for 2 people, since it is designed to replenish soldier's calories after forced march. You can take ketchup, mayonnaise or mustard, but given the lack of a refrigerator, it is better to take either “airplane” disposable packages of several grams or a small package, since according to the local weather, after 3 days, you will no longer be able to eat such ketchup. In Croatia, fruits are sold everywhere by local standards, not expensive, but in terms of rubles, it turns out about the same as in our store. Take raisins with you - delicious, nutritious. If you were going to Turkey or Egypt, I would advise you to take a couple of bottles of vodka, you can drive them there for at least 20 dollars, but I don’t know about Croatia.

ARE YOU SERIOUS?,,,
Why, then, go so far, if with such a set of dry rations you can drill somewhere on the nearest river and forget about the Plitvice Lakes.
I don't think it's necessary to take advice to the point of absurdity.
аватар redrok
Here is just a recommendation. In addition, canned food and dry food can not be eaten every day, but simply alternated with local food. By the way, it is not particularly exotic - globalization.
аватар Pachok
DO NOT take food out of the buffet. This is theft. In general, it seems to me that you are mocking :) No? Either a thousand euros per person to Croatia, then dry crackers and carry homeless bags. And what kind of place for food will help KETCHUP???
аватар Pachok
Although ... I read your report. Mdya. Now I understand where the legs grow from jokes about Russian tourists.
аватар redrok
I took out the products normally. The main thing is not to become impudent. No one will be able to take out a plate with food, but to shove packages with all sorts of jams, butter, etc. into the pockets. and take out a sandwich in your hands, stuffing a dozen slices of cheese and ham between pieces of bread, as if there was nothing to do. For a thousand euros per person, I spoke without knowing yet that we are talking only about a week. In addition, it is not known how many people were going to buy. In Croatia, a T-shirt with a decal cost me 100 kunas, sunscreen costs the same. At the expense of crackers, as they say, a penny saves a ruble. I never took vouchers with three meals a day, and dinner and lunch were either covered with imported products, or if I wanted variety, I went to a local catering or food store. Ketchup gives food extra flavor, especially if you eat something monotonous for a long time, like the same sandwiches with cold cuts (or ham from the buffet) or canned food.

What's wrong with the report?
аватар Pachok
Yes, it's all right :)
Especially indignation about the fact that drinks at dinner are paid (this is actually an absolutely normal general practice where there is no all inclusive) and advice to wash down food in a restaurant with scooped up liquid from canned fruit or soup broth ... This is no longer saving, but some insanity.
And normally you took out the products or abnormally, the fact remains - this is theft. Shame on my compatriots.
"At the expense of crackers, as they say, a penny saves a ruble"
Crackers protect not the ruble, but gastritis.

The Russian tourist already has the lowest status in Egypt and Turkey. Montenegro is next.

Well, drinking is a must. Do not pay the same currency for something Cho would get drunk on the buffet. Not for this, I worked hard to earn currency for a trip abroad to spend it on everyday expenses without emergency. This is precisely what explains the petty struggle of our compatriots. that they work for 11 months to rest once a year for a couple of weeks on vacation and it is clear that no one wants to spend their hard-earned money to allow the natives to profit at your expense or buy something that can be purchased from us. Crackers lead to gastritis only if they are eaten in dry food, by the way, it is the mentioned ketchup that partially solves this problem. As for the products, they were originally intended for tourists and have already been written off to them. And it is not so important where the tourist wants to eat them in the dining room or in his room. If the staff had something against it, then at least a sign would be affixed. But food and consumables (soap in the rooms, postal envelopes, disposable shampoos, notebooks, etc.) are all consumables written off to the tourist in advance.

For hotline
Not quite right. On the contrary, they love us because we are the most massive tourists and we waste money more than others. Clamping on trifles, it is our tourists who buy the most expensive things and tours.
аватар elenako
My deep conviction is that you can't buy yourself water for dinner at a restaurant, you can't buy yourself a ticket on public transport or pay for a toilet - stay at home, don't go for a walk.
аватар HotLine
1. We are not "the most massive tourists". Germany, which is 4 times smaller than the CIS countries in terms of population, still leaves more people per year than from the same CIS countries. It's only Germany.
2. Our tourists do not buy the most expensive tours and do not overspend. For an example, you can look here in the thread of questions. The most popular questions - for a fee or not and how much - safe, mini bar, excursions, where is the market and how to buy cheaper. I understand such interest, but the price of the issue is usually 20-50 dollars.

Let's still not argue, and in fact we will discuss the question posed :-)))
аватар elenako
Regarding the price of the Plitvice Lakes, the excursion itself cost 10-15 euros per person. But you still need to get there on your own. And it's quite far away. And the lakes are very beautiful.
аватар redrok
Reply to elenako I can afford to buy a bottle of water and public transport and even a diamond ring. But I like to squander money, they get too hard work. Since I have money, I will spend it on what I need, and not on the tourism industry.

Quarrel. I turn with the disputants into a private connection.

How far is the lake from Split?

An organized trip to Plitvica from Split a couple of years ago cost 100 bucks per person

If it comes to saving money, then you can live in an apartment with a kitchen and cook simple dinners for yourself :) (I generally think that Croatia-Montenegro is a country not for hotels, but for apartments, but this is my IMHO :) ON Plitvice lake entrance cost 80 kunas in June 2006 - probably more expensive now. We went there with friends by car, but back (to Split) - by regular bus (in my opinion, then it costs about 130 kuna / person). But I think it's easier not to worry and buy a full tour if you're not going to rent a car.
аватар elenako
I agree about the apartments. It is important to find a suitable option. When you are already there, you see “for rent” on the facades of the houses, and when you fly for the first time, it is important to book everything in advance, and if the owner also meets you at the airport, then super.
But we were there in September - the flow of tourists is much less than in the summer months.
аватар yulyashka
I must have misled the forum members. Under the word "savage" meant rest without a travel agency in the apartment. I have already chosen several options for myself, but I would be grateful for useful links to good housing or phone number.
аватар Fleta
Well, about booking in advance - I would argue ... Although it is really easier for many. When we flew to Montenegro for the first time, we had nothing but tickets :) We rented a car right at the airport from a taxi driver, sat down and went to look for a suitable place (remote from the road, not crowded), and found an apartment there. True, Croatia will be a little more ill :) - and in order to fly there, you must at least decide on the region)) and it would be nice to read information about it (towns, towns, beaches, etc.). Fortunately, there is enough of it on the Internet now.

My friends last summer stayed in apartments in Marusici (Marusici, it seems to be spelled) - the village is about 50 km from Split, found on the Internet through adriatic.hr, they were very pleased with this place - clean, beautiful, not crowded, if you want - I can clarify the name of the apartment. The only inconvenience is that it is difficult to catch transport from there, because. there is little that stops from the regular, so I think you just need to stipulate this with a tour in advance. By the way, we cooked for ourselves... and don't steal food from the buffets :)))) (forgive me, but I haven't heard such crazy advice for a long time :))) My husband and I stayed in the Trogir region in 2006 ( peninsula Ciovo), but you can’t get there without transport (we rented a scooter).
