Please advise which part of Croatia is better to go with a 2-year-old child. Interested in sandy beaches, a gentle entrance and more or less warm water.

Istra Peninsula. We rested in Rovinj, there is a gentle approach near the Edem Hotel, but small pebbles. All beaches in Croatia are municipal.

I would advise the region of middle Dalmatia, the resort of Makarska or Baska Voda - this coast is protected from the winds by the islands of Brac and Hvar, the sea is warmer, the beaches are good. In July-August, the sea is warm everywhere, but on the islands the weather is more changeable, more windy, the sea is a little colder, therefore, and it’s not so comfortable to get out of the water

My opinion - Istria: Poreč, Umag. The beaches in Makarska are pebbly.

Baska Voda, Makarska beautiful beaches with pine trees along the edge of the beach. But, the child will need to be shod in coral shoes (they are sold on every corner), sharp pebbles. Good hotels "Horizon", "Milenium", "Meteor" on the first line. Makarska is more noisy, party-going, Baska Voda is calmer. Becici-Rafailovici area - sand and pebble beaches. Ultsin - in general, volcanic sand.

Lyudmila, we have already been to Montenegro, now I would like to visit Croatia. By the way, we were on Ulcinj, where the water is much warmer than in the entire Adriatic. :)

The hottest month and the warmest water in Croatia in August, keep in mind. As for the beaches, Istria also has both pebbly and mixed ones, many platforms with loose sand. Children swim well on the pebbles in special slippers. I mean the Adriatic Sea, very clean. But I don’t advise you to the Mediterranean, it is also considered the dirtiest in the world ... First, choose a resort: Opatija, Krka, Porec, Umag, and then specifically specify in TA which hotels have a sandy beach. In Makarska, I saw only pebbles, although maybe somewhere there are bulk beaches with sand. It is, however, a mountainous country.

Istria is very beautiful. BUT, I don't like platforms and rocky beaches, that's why I choose Central Dalmatia. There are sandy beaches in Omiš, but there a mountain river and water flows into the sea, a little colder into the sea, and the infrastructure is weaker. There is also South Dalmatia, a beautiful corner with rocky beaches and platforms. Decide for yourself how you want to relax. And there is plenty to choose from!!!
Have a good rest.

AdriaTur, What do you think about Dubrovnik? I looked at the temperature map shows that in August there will be water of 26 degrees. And what about the beaches?

I will say that in Dubrovnik there are also small bays with gently sloping pebble beaches, there is a sand and pebble beach right under the walls of the old city, and the sea really warms up to 26, since Dubrovnik is the very south of Croatia, but are you ready to withstand air temperatures up to 40 degrees? In Croatia, along the entire coast, there are good children's beaches, if you wish, you can find them in many resorts. If according to the reviews of many of our tourists with children, then there are many positive reviews about Crikvenica. The beach is called Crni Mol, you can find reviews on the Internet.

Agree with you. And I like the location, we will be on our own car, and we plan to travel a little around the country. Right in the middle, and Plitvice Lakes are not far away. Thanks again.

About your car. Roads and Croatia are very difficult, with serpentines. If there is no experience of driving on such roads, then it is simply dangerous. Be careful. Dubrovnik, in my opinion, is a noisy, party and expensive resort. Next summer we will also go to Croatia, but to Istria, we want Krka and Porec, the pebbles do not bother. In the Middle Dolmatia (Makarska) was the last time. And this year - love Bulgaria.

I can see the answers. In general, it has now become more difficult for me to navigate this site. It used to be easier and I liked it more.
