in the "must have" program, of course, Dubrovnik. Croatia is a small country - you can travel all over it - the beauty is indescribable.
I would also advise you to go to Montenegro.

Plitvice Lakes - everyone in Croatia must go to them.

You will live in the southern part of the country.
I would advise you not to go too far to the south, Dubrovnik, Montenegro is beautiful, but it is very far from the island of KRK. And it’s not profitable, because it’s definitely not possible to go there without spending the night. To the south of Split it is inexpedient for you to move.
Plitvice Lakes, KRK National Park, Split+Trogir, Zadar, Sibenik, Primosten, Istria-Pula Peninsula, Poreč+Vrsar, Rovinj, Brijuni National Park, Motovun.
There are several other national the parks are not very far from the island of KRK, but these are mountains and you need to walk there, and not drive a car. Roads in the mountains, not counting the autobahns, are not so hot. You will drive mainly along the coast - the roads are good, the views are beautiful. Have a good rest!

And why not go to Dubrovnik, the more impractical, especially by car, you definitely need to. The city is fully included in the UNESCO list. Croatia is not a very big country to refuse to get to Dubrovnik.

And that spending the night in the Dubrovnik area is a problem, not a hotel, so you will definitely find a campsite. Even now you can book a campsite in a search engine on the Internet, you know how to do it!

Because only from Split to Dubrovnik is at least (!) 4.5 hours drive one way, although it is only 250 km. And from the island of KRK it is still a plus of 350 km and also about 5 hours. At least 10 hours one way. That is, a day on the way there, a day to Dubrovnik, a day back. Well, on the way back, it’s logical to stop by Split + Trogir, it will be a little more than half a day, then spend the night there, in the morning to see Split and Trogir. not that island, but another place - a large waterfall in which you can swim and generally very beautiful nature) and continue on your way back to. This, for a moment, is already 3 nights not on the KRK (2 in Dubrovnik, 1 in the Split region) and 4 days. Estimate gasoline + toll road (cool!) + extra overnight stays (do not forget that the paid housing remained in the KRK, but you need to pay an additional 3 nights. The question arises, why then actually live in the KRK for 10 days, if 3 nights / 4 days of them- generally in the southern and central parts of the country and are paid twice?
Finding accommodation is not a problem - does it make sense to go south from the north when living in the KRK - that is the question?

Of course, it would be possible to move from north to south along the coast, changing places of lodging for the night, but, apparently, people are connected to the air, and rental-local and budget rentals often do not make it possible to rent and rent a car in different parts of the country.
But you also need to swim in the sea, you don’t have to ride all the days, do you?
Therefore, I would recommend focusing on what is closer - Istria, a trip to Plitvice Lakes (not far at all, 2 hours on the way from Krk), possibly south to Split, Sibenik. The same national Krka park.
Near the island of KRK there are cool nat. parks - mountainous - Northern Velebit and Paklenica. There is mostly on foot, of course, but there are also more civilized parts - viewing, botanical gardens within the parks.
Write on Wikipedia nat. parks in Croatia, there are all standing in one list.
In general, do not get bored ;-)
And Dubrovnik is cool, but far from you and it can be combined with Montenegro on the next trips. Unless Croatia becomes Schengen. Promised next year ;-)
