help choosing a resort
tell me, please, where to go? hochtsya and the beach, and to travel more around the country. We go without a car, we need a good bus / ferry service for independent trips. We want to rent an apartment, just to be close, clean, quiet and hot water. Where would you recommend staying and how much would it cost? Accommodation and moving around the country by public transport? Also, are the beaches free?
Thanks

The beaches are free.
The bus and ferry service is excellent.
Bus and ferry timetables can be found here http://www.jadrolinija.hr/ and http://www.autobusni-kolodvor.com/
the cost of living in an apartment is highly dependent on many factors, especially the season of travel

We liked Rogoznica. Nice apartment with kitchen. Report here: http://www.turpravda.com/hr/rogoznica/Villa_Atlantis-h27634-r39177.html
The beaches there are free, pebbly. The town is quiet and calm.

I'm for Dubrovnik!!! Split is also an option, other resorts in Croatia are not so fun (my personal opinion).
The beaches, of course, are free of charge, but not everywhere there is a convenient entry into the sea, pebbles or an entrance from the platform. Dubrovnik is a very beautiful city, and Split is a kind of Croatian "Côte d'Azur", a party place for Croatian bohemia and the birthplace of many Croatian stars! :)

We rested in Sibenik. True, not in the apartments, but in the hotel. The sea is clean and transparent. For family holidays. There are excursions. You can rent a car. For prices, see http://www.booking.com/.

Yes, more. Very, very good reviews about Rovinj (Rovinj), but I personally have not been. I only know that everything is already very "italized" there. At least that's what my relatives from Serbia say.

Croatia is such a country that wherever you settle, everywhere you have a good rest, and there is something to see. This rarely happens.)
But, the sandy beaches we love so much, mainly in the Makarska Riviera area. It's somewhere in the middle of the road between Split and Dubrovnik - there are a good dozen resorts - Baska Voda, Brela, Makarska ...
It seems to me that your option is somewhere in there. Being close to both Central Dalmatia (Split, Trogir) and South Dalmatia (Dubrovnik, Cavtat), you will expand the possible excursions. You can go to the Plitvice Lakes, to the Krka National Park, raft on the Cetina River (near Omis). Makarska itself is nothing, there are natural parks, mountains nearby (for example, NP Biokovo).
You can, of course, go to Dubrovnik, but then you will not get to Plitvice Lakes, to Krka, and it is far from Split and Trogir. And from Split (without spending the night) there is no point in going to Dubrovnik. It needs at least a day, and there, on the way, through traffic jams and a narrow road, it takes about 4 hours ...
That is, you decide that it is more important for you to see which city you like best.
If you are going for 10 days or more, then Central Dalmatia is better. There are a little less attractions in the Dubrovnik area, there is a risk of getting bored)
But! Next to Montenegro and the beautiful Boka-Kotor Bay!

Split is a good place to start, yes. Both by bus and ferries, by water. And the city itself is pretty. But, unfortunately, I won’t tell you about the beaches and apartments of Split, I usually avoid living in big cities. We lived on the island of Chiovo, in the city of Trogir. In addition, Ciovo has several villages, many secluded coves and beaches. But they were on a car and were not tied up for transport. From Split to Ciovo and from Trogir (the city is located on 2 islands and partly on the mainland), ferries often went to Ciovo. I liked the village of Slatin, just opposite Split. There you can swim a couple of times on the beach, for example. But, perhaps, someone will tell you about the clean beaches directly in Split or in the vicinity. For the ferry is probably not very convenient ...
