I am a musician and spent many very summer seasons in Germany on the Bodensee. I would like to change my place, and I was very interested in visa-free Croatia, but there is no one even to know if they play in a cafe? and more often in which cities did you see / hear / violinists, saxophonists, guitarists. Good day! As for Croatia, I have been there twice, and so, music is loved and appreciated there, but you won’t hear high art in the restaurants and bars of the resort town (I was in Rovinj and Poreč). Basically, local bands and ensembles of musicians play in hotels in the evening - but on demand, i.e. what tourists like and what you can dance to (mostly focused on middle-aged Germans, Austrians, other Europeans, who are many there (they just come in their cars). Two or three times, groups playing in national traditions stopped by the hotel, we listened For a short time, somehow it didn’t stick in. On the streets of Poreč and Rovinj, musicians were seen - mostly violinists, they perform different music - from classical to pop.

Thank you for such a quick answer, which, in general, thanks to the great experience in this area, was conjectural, with minor national amendments. I mean that there are violinists on the streets. They, only from Slovakia, flooded the German south. But the main the reason for my change of country is the problem with Schengen visas. It's scary to take risks and go to another country without knowing the nuances. But apparently there is no other way. Thank you for being interested in not only gastronomy!

In Dubrovnik, in the GRAND HOTEL PARK AND VILLAS, on the summer terrace in the evenings (but not every day), the guys played light jazz. What a wonderful mood they created.

In 2008, I stayed at the Belvedere Hotel in the town of Medulin in the vicinity of Pula. So there in the hotel at the entrance to the restaurant sometimes musicians played. Some locals played national instruments, but they didn't play very well, and I haven't seen them anywhere else in Croatia.

in Vodice, our family was impressed by a group playing melodious songs in Croatian with a guitar. I'll find the disc, I'll write the name. Mostly they sang romances, but a few things were like "sten by me". We were looking forward to their performance.

I have been to Croatia many times ... all along the coast and even where you were (Rovinj and Poreč) musicians playing classical music, incl. and acoustic guitars. I recommend reading information about events, festivals and concerts on the Internet before going on vacation.
