Olya, if you were neither there nor there, then, of course, Croatia. I was there, but not in Slovenia. And if I had a choice to go to Croatia again or to Slovenia for the first time, I would choose Croatia. If only because it has a lot of coastlines. I honestly have no idea what to do there in Slovenia. Maybe I'm wrong. Let those who were everywhere correct. And at the end of May everything is good :))

There is a lot to do in Slovenia, really. There are only caves in Postojna, Predjama Castle and Lake Bled, which are worth something. A trip from Ljubljana to Bled is a natural sightseeing tour of the Alps, the Alps at a glance. Predjama Castle is the best of all the castles that I have seen - a completely non-tourist place and very atmospheric. Ljubljana is small and fabulous, I have never heard such responses about Zagreb. I have not been to Croatia, but I was going specifically (the route had already been developed), I studied it thoroughly, I can compare.
Ollennka, you keep in mind that the toad can press hard, which were in Croatia - and did not swim, and the sea in the second half of May is generally far from swimming. In Slovenia, too, the sea, but not so popular.
I would choose like this: if there is less time - to Slovenia, more - to Croatia, another country another time. In Slovenia, everything is relatively compact (from Ljubljana it is easy to take a regular bus with radial trips to Postojna, Predjama and Lake Bled), but in Croatia you can’t roll like that.

in.ki, thank you, I have a two-week vacation, I don't know if it's more or less. Why didn't you swim in Croatia?
For transport - I plan to take a rental car.

Ollennka, I did not get to Croatia - there was a bummer with tickets.
The sea is cold even in June, not to mention the end of May. It just starts warming up at the end of June, in July it’s normal, and immediately everything is full - full house, there is half of Europe. I read that for some reason even those who have their own sea, but, apparently, people want variety. Or cheaper compared to other maritime Europe. That's why Croatia is maritime and uncomfortable - a short period of time in which you can turn around at sea, with a bunch of people.
Two weeks is IMHO more. If you are not interested in the sea, then if I were you, under such circumstances, I would go to Croatia, everything works out for her. At the end of May there will be no crowds yet, Plitvice, look at yourself calmly, the weather is comfortable for the bride. I got the impression that you try to see everything in the country to the maximum during your trip. I myself am like that. I threw a route around Croatia, that's just two weeks and it turned out. True, with the sea, but if without the sea, then you can even capture all sorts of KRKA.

Che-that site does not allow me to write a long message, I will add it here.
And to Slovenia another time - on some long weekend. This is if you look from the point of view of logistics, not only momentary, but with an eye to the future (I try so hard to "lay out" countries on the shelves with a perspective of a year or two, at least - taking into account the seasons, some interesting events that are not found anywhere else. only in this country, your free time under travel and so on).

In case you are going to Slovenia. Rent a car to take except for trips between cities and radials from Ljubljana - to the castle, to Bled. Ljubljana itself is small, there is nowhere to drive there, I don’t even know how they will turn around in a car on those streets and how it is with parking lots. Everything is within walking distance. Despite this, there is something to see in Ljubljana. I can say with confidence that in Ljubljana - the best of the ethnographic museums that I have ever visited (and I have visited many of them, I always run to the ethnographic one in every country), except that the Anthropological Museum in Mexico City can compete. I did not even expect this from Ljubljana. There are a lot of interactive things in the ethnographic one, you can get stuck there for half a day. I mean, Ljubljana is unique - small, but "stuffed" with interesting things. Near the ethnographic museum, there are two more museums side by side, I didn’t even have time to visit them, because three days were allotted to Ljubljana, every day for half a day for a sortie, but still - Bled, castle, Postojna. There is something to see, oh, there is.

Ok, thank you very much. Let's see. The cold sea does not bother me at all, the main thing is that it should be from 27 on the street, at this temperature I calmly swim.

Yesterday I specifically watched the weather by months in Croatia. The sea can be +18 at the end of May. I swam in Odessa at +18 - although I'm cold, but in fact everything is not so scary, it turns out, the main thing is to enter the water and flounder a little.

I don’t know how it is in Slovenia, but in Croatia there are many medieval towns that even I was interested in seeing with one eye. We lived near Trogir. A very nice little town under the auspices of UNESCO. Split, again, with its Diocletian's palace. Well, Dubrovnik, of course! This is just what I managed to see during the week of the package holiday. There is so much goodness out there. Plitvice Lakes - without fail. And the Krka waterfalls were also very pleasant. And just to travel around the islands. Enough work for two weeks. I haven't seen Zagreb and don't want to. Just like Ljubljana. It was enough for me that I was passing through another capital of a neighboring state - Podgorica. A completely faceless city. The fact that the water is cool - it's good! There will be no more crowds of heat-loving seals.
But I would not mind seeing the Slovenian Alps. I also have a vacation at the end of May. But only a week. Thanks in.ki for the info. I'm just afraid of rain.
