Meals: the food is tasty, good and moderately varied. The service in the restaurant was very disappointing, not even the waiters, but the administrators, one girl, a blonde - good, calm; two brunettes - just a nightmare. The tables are small, served for two, there were four of us, these two brunettes did not allow us to sit at large tables and openly kicked us out if we had already managed to settle down in their absence, they offered to either sit separately for two, or set a small table for four, move two small tables, it was "impossible". These two girls were frankly strange, they touched the vacationers, they could hug, pat on the back, pat on the shoulder - some kind of wildness)))
SPA is a terrible horror, I have not seen such squalor for a long time...
All inclusive was limited to a very strict and small list, everything else was for money, for example, a cup of tea - 4.5 euros. In addition, on the day of departure, they will stop serving you at exactly 12 o’clock, and it doesn’t matter when you leave for the airport, everything will be paid for you.
Beach across the road. Underpass, but keep in mind the traffic on the road is very intense, if you take a sunbed away from the sea, you will lie like on the sidewalk, breathe in exhaust fumes and listen to the noise of cars, which sometimes drowns out the sound of the surf.
Renting a car in a hotel is 1.5 times more expensive than in the same company, but around the corner. We traveled the whole island, in general, we liked the rest and Rhodes too.
As a result: we are ready to say yes to Rhodes, but no to the Amathus hotel.
In general, I liked everything, the biggest, in my opinion, the disadvantage of the hotel is the notorious queues in the restaurant - really very annoying. The beach also seems dirty at first glance, but it is natural debris, mostly algae. Although, in other countries, and in other hotels, they somehow manage to remove it - simply for aesthetic reasons. The disadvantages will also include the lack of a toilet on the beach - well, it's a bit far to go to the pool, gentlemen managers)! And the one by the pool is not cleaned often enough for such a flow of people who want to visit it. Also, the lack of an equipped descent for a baby stroller on the way to the sea is not very convenient - of course, the staff, if they see mommy, helpfully helps to lift / lower her, but often there is no one nearby, and the girls have to carry a difficult stroller with a two-year-old child up / down the stairs not the most stable complexion) - or "jump" on the steps. And in the end, by the way, the stroller broke (.
I don’t have any particular complaints about the cleaning of the rooms, the view from the window I personally had was better than ordered, but the room is small, and even in the shower cubicle, even for me, with my XS size, it was a bit cramped))). How men enter there - I can't imagine.
Another minus - even for an all-inclusive service on the beach for a fee - waiters bring free drinks only by the pool. And, keep in mind, future vacationers at Amathus - your "all inclusive" does not apply to everything, but only to what is marked P / P on the menu, and "turns into a pumpkin", that is, ends at 24.00 - From now on, all drinks are paid))). Order more in advance.
Now about the pluses - there are many of them - a green, cozy area; good animation (themed parties in the bar on the 11th floor, and the animators themselves are great, they are trying); pleasant, friendly staff (in general, I apparently fell into some kind of statistical sample, I was a representative man with glasses, one of the managers, apparently, shook hands as soon as I caught his eye, and inquired: "How are you today ? "). The food is delicious, the choice is good (the waiters just don’t come up for a long time to take an order for drinks - well, apparently they don’t have time). Nice SPA center, I liked all the procedures that I did. Excellent "lobster evening" (it is for an extra charge, 44 euros for an adult, 22 for a child - but the child will bring exactly the same amount, i. e. VERY much food))). And in the free "a la carte" we also liked everything. The sea is warm, small waves are only a joy, and a light breeze makes lying on the beach more pleasant.
By the way, thanks to the promotion of the hotel, we, completely free of charge, got the opportunity to compare our coast with the coast of the Mediterranean Sea - we went for 2 days to the Princess Andrianna Hotel, located near Lindos. If this promotion continues on your arrival, I advise you to go, that hotel is also wonderful, brand new, and the sea is different (calm, but cold), and the weather is hotter. But, in the end, we decided that "Amathus" is still more comfortable, and the food here is better))).
In general - many thanks to the staff of "Amathus" and the tour operator "Biblio Globus" for a great vacation. True - this is already for the "Biblio Globe" - we did not like the hotel guide in "Amathus" for a number of reasons, but in "Princess Andrianna" she is a very pleasant and caring girl.
Have a good rest everyone).
Location. The city of Ixia itself is small, but around the hotel there are shops, taverns in large numbers, car and ATV rentals, windsurfing, etc. No sights, but to Rhodes - the capital of the island - 5 km,
Taxi costs 8 euros, bus 2 euros. And there is already a real tourist party, there is something to see.
Yes! When choosing a hotel in Rhodes, keep in mind that there is always a breeze on the Aegean coast, so in summer it is easier to endure the heat, and there is always a little excitement on the sea. The Mediterranean Sea is very calm and transparent, but its coast is even hotter and there is less vegetation. And the pebbles and sand on the beaches are warmed up so that it is impossible to sit even with a towel.
Rooms. We live by the standard. The room is large, divided by an openwork partition, behind it is a sofa on which a child sleeps. Sea view = view of the highway, noisy at night. Clean clean, linen and towels are good, put even more than you need. There is a family room, they are two-story, but there are not enough of them, we didn’t get it. With two children, they do not settle in the standard. There are also suites with small pools, but they cost some unrealistic money.
Beach and pools. Beach across the road! Go through a small tunnel, 20 meters. But on the beach there is not only sand and pebbles, but also grass and trees, which is very important at a temperature of +35C. Under the trees on the grass, you can lie all day quite calmly.
There are five pools - three open below, one on the 11th floor, on the mountain, there is also a children's pool, and one in the spa, closed. Trees grow around the pools too, beauty! Sun beds are better to take in the morning, but in principle there is enough space for everyone.
The sea is warm, but there are always small waves, a little muddy from the rising sand. The entrance to the water is pebbly, gentle, and then the bottom is sandy.
Nutrition. Normal. Nothing surprising, but enough food, no hustle. Not enough fish, but fruits, sweets, meat - in abundance. If you have HB, then dinner can be exchanged for lunch - very convenient. You can also grab a bite to eat at the pool bar. Two double-layer sandwiches with ham and cheese, garnished
French fries and salad cost 3.50 euros. Children can hardly eat one such portion together. The only negative is dinner until 22-00, and they start cleaning food from 21-15! Never seen anything like this before.
The main restaurant on the 10th floor has a huge open terrace overlooking the sea. It is wonderfully pleasant to have breakfast and dinner there, it is very beautiful at sunset.
Animation. I won’t say anything in detail, because we entertain ourselves. There are animators, even Russian-speaking ones, there is a kids club, but honestly, I don’t know what and how it is. Live music, dancing, shows - it's all there, but as usual in Europe, everything is very unobtrusive.
In a word, everything is fine. For a family vacation - it's the best. Traveling around the island is also a must, but that's a completely different story.
