The hotel rooms are spacious and well equipped. The bathroom needs additional shelves and hooks, there was nowhere to put your bath accessories and cosmetics. Plus, there is no rim in the shower. Since it does not close completely, water leaked. Cleaning usually happened after dinner, cleaned cleanly, but for some reason hotel shampoos and gels were not replenished.
There are two pools with sun loungers on the territory, but there was no desire to swim in the pool, the sea is somehow more pleasant. Breakfast is good, but there was no natural coffee, brought only for an additional fee. And you had to wear a mask and gloves while you take food from the buffet (they gave you at the entrance).
The staff at the hotel is strange - at the reception it is either empty, or completely left people are sitting. The maids do the cleaning of the rooms in their own way, only they understand. At breakfast, everyone is also too relaxed. The rest of the hotel is good, but I would not strongly recommend it.
As for the staff, you will not see him there. Except a maid. (Cleaned by the way very well).
I was a little annoyed by the lack of security. Perhaps because I was alone. On the second day of my arrival, at 6 am, there was a knock on my room. I got used to the fact that wherever I rested, it was safe everywhere. Opened immediately. Some drunken young Greek in the trash tried to explain to me in slurred English that I had problems with water in my room. My confrontation came to nothing. He pushed me away with his paw, entered the dignity. knot and fell next to the toilet, sort of like he was going to fix it. I rushed to the reception, but of course there was no one there. (There is never anyone there). From there I heard the young man plaintively yelling: "Madame, madam. "
As I understood from his drunken babble, he is a hotel employee. Apparently there was an application for problems with plumbing, and he mixed up the number. But I survived a few unpleasant moments. I waited for them to apologize, in vain.
Then one night a drunken team (4 people) wandered to the pool. Just passed by and walked in. Began to kick sunbeds into the water.
Why am I telling this for so long? Because I won't go there again. I love security. So that when I sleep in the room, I know for sure that there is someone to look after here.
And the rest - everything is fine.
In 2013, Nostos was chosen because of its proximity to the sea. We are 4 people, adult children. We wanted apartments, but they were not available. The operator offered us a studio - according to the description, a room with a sliding door to divide the room into two parts.
In fact, it turned out that there were no doors and never were. The studio is designed for 3 people. 3 chairs on the balcony, 3 cups, etc. On the balcony in four it is crowded, there is no place at the table. That is, in our case, we would simply not consider this hotel as an option.
Further: wifi in the room and on the balcony does not catch. The TV broke on the 3rd day. The next day, when installing the key with sparks, the stove burned out... And the electricity went out. Refrigerator - understandably dripped. They only fixed it in the evening.
Rooms are cleaned every day, towels are changed every 3 days.
In my opinion, the hotel only deserves that they rest in 202 and 203. Only they have a sea view (you can hear the surf). But again - no more than 3 people.
The beach is very close, literally, in the truest sense. We really wanted to go to Bali Star (who doesn’t want to go there? ), but it didn’t work out, but we didn’t regret it.
The bay with Nostos is the first and largest of all four in Bali. There are many cafes, but, I don’t know, is it always so empty there or only in September? On Sundays, bikers gather in cafes near the beach, I think they didn’t choose this spacious bay for nothing.
The beach is spacious, there are enough sunbeds, the contingent of vacationers is different. On the hill there is some kind of, it seems, 4-star, so the Germans and the French all looked into our hotel.
We took the tour without food at all, for several reasons: a) the breakfast reviews are terrible, the reviews of vacationers with us confirm this, b) we planned dinner not within the hotel, so as not to become attached to the area, we traveled a lot. Travel details below.
We dined and dined in taverns (I recommend Gorgon in the neighborhood - very tasty, cheap and friendly host; Karavanastazi - in the fourth bay, behind the port, the road is not close, but it’s damn comfortable there, the most delicious white wine in Crete, home cooking and, again, a friendly host ). An average dinner with wine cost an average of 16 euros for two.
By the way, the rooms have electric stoves - so we cooked to the fullest, there are many supermarkets in the neighborhood.
It is more profitable to take water in a large package - 6 bottles of 1.5 liters each cost 1.45 euros.
I recommend taking only tea and coffee with you, where they leave much to be desired, as well as packaged juices. We also ran for (breakfast) honey and yogurt to the third bay (behind Bali Star, behind the church), there we also took homemade red wine in plastic bottles and cheese, if you go further - then there is a good supermarket, with olive products and nuts, the most big choice. If you go even further along the same road, almost to the port - there is also a shop there - good honey and homemade white wine, cheese, a friendly owner.
In the city of tyry it is cheaper - but check the language of the tour. We paid 150 euros per person for Santorini. and then they saw 70 euros each, regretted it a little. There, all excursions are two times cheaper than the guide.
On the first day, we took Gramvousa and Santorini from the guide, went to Arkadi on our own (there is a bus stop not far from the hotel, you can get to Rethymno, and then transfer to the bus to Arkadi / Preveli or somewhere else).
Then we found a VIP guide (type "Crete" in classmates), wonderful excursions by car along two routes (but there are more routes): "Golden Step" Monastery - Elafonissi Beach - Chania - Lake Kournas; Knossos - aquarium - Gortyna - Matala beach - Spili - night Rethymno.
They were satisfied.
