The host is Fenix Tours: everything is at the highest level (VIP car for 2 families, we reached the place in about an hour).
We met girls from the reception - there are a couple of people who understand and speak Russian. While filling out the cards, they brought refreshing drinks, cool napkins, helped to open the suitcases from the packaging (+++). As a nice bonus - they gave 15 minutes of free massage, a trifle, but very nice.
While waiting for the check-in time, they provided a room where you could leave your things, took a shower, changed clothes and went to the sea!!!!
We had a 1 bedroom apartment with a sea view. Huge kitchen / living room with a comfortable kitchen. In the kitchen, ALL accessories: microwave, dishwasher, extractor hood, stove, stove. Ironing board with iron, music. cent.
Small household appliances: kettle, toaster, coffee maker, juicer, all kinds of crockery and bells and whistles.
There are a lot of hangers and even sprigs of lavender in the cabinets. Spacious balcony with comfortable furniture.
There was wine on the table when we checked in (a nice touch). Cleaned every day (lightly so? ), but we did not pollute the room. Towels and sheets were changed on time.
The hotel is cozy, there are 3 pools, but we were all the time at the sea. There is an "Animator" for adults and entertainment for children (a whole schedule by day). For adults in the pool Aqua aerobics, on the beach sports equipment - take and play. Constantly enticed to play outdoor games.
The beach is across the road, with its free sunbeds, umbrellas, towels!!! ! Another very thoughtful feature for young children is the area on the sand with toys and under an awning! Well done!
Nutrition. At the entrance to the restaurant meets the Maitre d' who will lead to a free table, bring tea / coffee. Breakfasts are plentiful.
You can choose for every taste, desserts are portioned original and often changed. Lots of different pastries, refreshing drinks. On Sundays there is a table with champagne and snacks for it. (very original and pleasant: in the morning champagne on the seashore!!!!
If you have any questions, the reception will always help. It was necessary to orient on the movement of buses - they immediately gave a printout with a schedule and stops.
More! The child had a birthday. They came from the beach - and in the fridge there is a delicious, beautiful cake, plus a candle, plus fruits !!!!!!! ! Bomb.
Around the hotel there are many restaurants, shops, supermarket. We went to the center of Rethymno. It was possible to take a bus (1.5 euros), a taxi 5 euros, there are rental electric scooters (download the program, connect your credit card and go - like 0.3 or 0.8 euros km, you can go 2 people) drove and left somewhere.
We chose restaurants based on reviews - we never regretted it.
Excursions were taken on the street (Spyridon tour, taken from them not for the first time)
We went to many ourselves - by public transport.
In the center of Rethymnon there is a sightseeing 2-decker bus - (you are lucky around the city, then to the mountains, and again to the city - you can get off at the stops and go on the next. You have headphones - an audio guide in your language)
We went to Georgioupolis, Bali, where there are sightseeing trains - also an interesting means of transportation.
We were still lucky - we got there at the moment when the little turtles hatched from eggs. The hotel participates in the KaretaKareta Turtle Conservation Program. And it is a sponsor in the protection of the laying of eggs of these turtles on its beach. It is very interesting to observe all this and talk with volunteers on this topic.
In general, we went for emotions - we got them. A beautiful sunrise in the morning - a stunning sunset in the evening! Who is looking for shortcomings on vacation - you can always find and spoil your vacation.
We rested at the end of May, at this time there are not so many tourists on the island, the grasses have not yet had time to burn out in the sun, and the water in the sea is a little cool and refreshing. This time we chose the Grecotel Plaza Spa, a hotel a couple of kilometers from the old town of Rethymnon. Before this city, we walked along the embankment, more often we walked in the morning or in the evening, when it was not so hot.
The sea is across the road from the hotel, but in principle the road does not interfere. The main thing is to look around when you cross it. The food at the hotel is delicious, a lot of fruits, vegetables, fish and meat dishes. This time we almost did not go on excursions. Since the island of Crete has already been studied quite well. We only took advantage of a profitable and very interesting offer to fly to the island of Santorini by plane. A couple of years ago we sailed on a ship, it turned out to be very difficult and long to sail, and we spent only 4 hours on the island itself. The air excursion allowed us to spend 10 hours on the island! We saw much more, heard more. And the price difference is ridiculous.
We rented a car from our hotel guide Anastasia for one more day and went for a ride in the bays.
Rested both body and soul. We are currently planning a trip for the end of the summer. Thank you all for helping us organize!
Delight knew no bounds, built in the style of a Cretan village, two-storey houses with balconies, 4 swimming pools, 2 of which (for children and adults) overlooking the sea, 2 more inside, one indoor in the SPA center, the second surrounded by houses in one of which they lived we, cozy apartments with a kitchen, air conditioning, a safe, everything is free, breakfasts and dinners were amazing with variety! Cretan and Mediterranean cuisine, friendly waiters, a restaurant was opened for an early breakfast. The receptionist speaks Russian, they are always smiling, friendly and happy to help. The hotel has children's animation, the girl speaks Russian, the children simply adore her. On weekends, various evenings, dancers come, magicians gather all over the hotel.
Vacation went great! Happy and rested we went home! Next
I'll start from the beginning.
We went with the Test Tour. Many thanks to the guys from the Test Tour, the organization of the trip was excellent.
We are travelers to Heraklion, the place is amazing. The airport is located on the seashore. Within 10 minutes after receiving the luggage, we went to the hotel. It takes about 1 hour and 30 minutes to get to the hotel, but you don't notice that around it is unusually beautiful. On one side there is the sea and on the other side there are mountains. When they started to drive up to the hotels, they were a little wary, the hotels are all 2-3 storey and a little "shabby" even 5 *. Of all the hotels, it was more or less (unfortunately I don’t remember the name), but it was in the middle of the road and there was nothing around.
Arriving at our hotel, we were met near the bus by a boy who took our luggage and took us to the reception. At the reception there were already 4 cups of juice (we were a family of 4) for us. We filled out a very "easy" form, drank some juice and a Russian speaking girl (with a very sad face) took us to our room.
When we entered the room, we wanted to cry. Last year we rested in Bulgaria in the "Admiral" where everything is just chic. We expected something like this, but alas. The room was quite small, but clean, there were fruits on the table. The room had everything that is described, but everything is very in the economy class. The bathroom was very good, but we had an ordinary bath and without a curtain, it was a little annoying, we like to take a shower, but the floor in the bathroom was heated and the water quickly disappeared. We were cleaned every day and it was impossible to persuade them not to clean. Bed linen and towels in the room were changed every day. Beach towels can be taken on the beach and changed every other day. The beach is across the road. But it doesn't bother. There were always enough umbrellas and sunbeds (for 4 people we always lay side by side). On the beach they carry water for free. The beach is cozy (without luxury). We did not go to the pools (children 16 and 10 years old are not interested in the pool either).
Now food. We only had breakfast which was very good. The breakfast was "American". Both in Bulgaria and in Crete, sausages are simply terrible, cucumbers, tomatoes in Ukraine are also tastier. Saved by yogurt. They have it thick like sour cream and there are a lot of all kinds of jams and liquid chocolate. We dined in the room. After 12, the heat was very strong, I didn’t want to go anywhere. We went to a supermarket the evening before (green, something like "Papandopolos" is called) there is a choice and prices are slightly cheaper than in the nearest supermarkets. We took oranges (0.65 euros per kg). Lavazza coffee and bread for toasters and croutons (like small toasters). Olives (very tasty but a bit salty) and they have olive paste very tasty. The room had a juicer, coffee maker and toaster. 2 oranges made 250 ml. juice. We had enough to eat. For dinner we went to La Mare and only there. I have never seen such service anywhere. There are 4 waiters working there. They don't have 1 waiter serving you while others are messing around. Who is free and serves (moreover, one can take the order to bring the second order, calculate 3, etc. ). My daughter is left-handed, so they gave her instruments for left-handers. Service is fast. They bring it to everyone at once, and not so that one is there, and the other is licked. The portions are very large. If it's a salad, it's a bowl of lettuce. If it's a steak, then it's A-5 format + french fries, etc. Basically a meal. On average, the cost of one dish is 6-6.5 euros. From drinking orange fresh (there are no packaged juices in the cafe) 2.5 euros and a mix of fresh 3 euros. Coffee from 1.5 to 5 euros depending on the coffee. Local wine glass 3.5 euros. Along with the bill, they bring watermelon and raki or ouza, and the waiter drinks with you. On Tuesdays and Fridays, there is something like folk art (Cretan). Be sure to visit it is very interesting, everything is easy and not forced + you participate in all this.
Now excursions. Tours are very expensive. We went only to one, but as if to a VIP - this is a bus for 21 people and this tour includes 2 excursions. These are the Palace of Knossos, the cave of Zeus + Lossiti + a pottery workshop + a monastery and a magnificent guide Tatiana. I do not advise you to go to the Palace of Knossos without a tour. Such an excursion costs 165 euros for adults and 119 for children under 12 years old. We did not go to Santorini, the prices are the same.
We took a car and went to the water park and the aquarium really liked it. Worth a trip. The car was taken on the waterfront. I will say right away you can safely take a convertible or without air conditioning. Their air is excellent, the most dead cars do not smoke. Gasoline is almost 1.8 euros.
In general, we arrived almost with tears and left with tears.
I really liked it, even with all the shortcomings. More than in "Admiral". If we go to Crete, then only in THIS HOTEL. That's because it's not strange. But also a big thank you to the guys from the Test Tour, they are really great.
the center, the bedroom is cozy, a bit in the Provence style, and the bathroom is also all right (the bathroom itself with hydromassage, but it’s not clear why it’s needed, it takes a long time to fill, and there are not enough nozzles for a full-fledged hydromassage). They clean the room every day, towels every other day, and beach towels when you want from the maid, ...well, they don't clean very well. Minus in monotonous food, more precisely in breakfast, but I have enough different crunches and head to head, but my husband is a little dissatisfied. For dinner we mostly go to la mare, it was already mentioned here, a wonderful tavern, with a menu in Russian and a little Russian-speaking waitress-laugher. (they have an amazing memory for faces, they remembered us from the first time and even names, what kind of beer we like))).
Another cool restaurant Manolis Pleace (somehow) there is a crazy colorful Greek owner with amazing hair from the 80s and a huge mustache, he drinks 30 grams of ouzu with every guest who has finished the meal and will definitely find something to talk about, we he kept talking about working girls from Ukraine and only then they bring the bill. The beach at the hotel is normal, it seems to be the only one on the entire coast of Rethymnon, sometimes they ask for a room number, there is no shortage of sun loungers, although the hotel is completely full, and when we arrived there were almost no Russians, and now almost all of them. We rented a car for 3 days, we think we can still take it, it’s a painfully beautiful island and there are still a lot of interesting places, yesterday we were on Elafonis, a magical place, the sea is amazingly beautiful, and the road both there and back (driving in different ways) is breathtaking.
Rethymnon is of course a beautiful city, but 2 weeks will be a bit boring here, so without a car, no way
And in the hotel it captivates that it is unobtrusive and open ...and while it causes only positive emotions, there are still 6 days ahead, we'll see)))
I never leave reviews about hotels, but I want to write about this! I will not say that the hotel struck us (we rested in companies of 2 couples) on the spot with some splendor, but made a deeply positive impression !!!
Let's start with the rooms: we had a 2 bedroom apartment with a kitchen. The rooms themselves are small, but fresh, everything is decent and clean, no one runs around (cockroaches and other animals). We especially liked the household appliances that the kitchen is equipped with (dishwasher, different saucepans, electric kettle, iron, tape recorder, in short, everything you need to relax without a dining room with its all-inclusive). Products in any supermarket (we overstocked in green s / m, it takes 10 minutes to walk along the embankment, the choice is large and the prices are nice).
As for other amenities and services in the hotel: there are 2 pools, swam, the sea is better in any way, Wi-Fi, aqua aerobics, theme nights, a playroom for children (paints, toys, as well as local cats and cats, very cute and friendly ). I must say right away - for people waiting for entertainment at the hotel, it will be boring, because. this hotel is more focused on couples who can entertain themselves))).
Now a few words about the sea - it is difficult to enter it, stones, but you quickly get used to them and swim into the sea with joy. You can, in order not to suffer, buy on the spot or take crocs or other special shoes with you.
The location of the hotel is very convenient, near the old town in Rethymnon.
I can't help but say about the excursions: of course, they will offer excursions from the t / o, which brought you to Crete. Their prices are scrap, so I advise you to take a car if you have water rights (there are a lot of Rent a Car companies along the embankment, the prices and conditions for renting cars are also different, everyone can find a suitable option for themselves). We traveled all sightseeing places by car in 3 days. Very satisfied. The roads are good, but scary, mountain serpentine, but the views... awesome.
Local taverns are a separate story. Everywhere is friendly, hospitable and very tasty. For ourselves, we chose 2 places where we were regulars (La Mare tavern, if you walk along the promenade, and Acropolis tavern, behind the Aegen Pearl hotel, turn right. Be sure to try the traditional local dishes: moussaka, saganaki with shrimp, lamb guivetsi, and of course same, crayfish - an analogue of our vodka, only softer and tastier.
Enjoy your holiday in Crete at the Crecotel.
P. S. flew back business class - very cool!! !
